About this property

NEW reno/furnishings, 650' to the beach, Dog friendly, at the The Octopus Oak.

You'll love being so close to the beach, but secluded by the oak and palmettos out front! The Octopus Oak provides your family with everything they need to enjoy Edisto's beauty and peaceful pace. Completely renovated in 2024, with new furniture. 4 BRs 3.5 BAs (1.5 bath is Jack-n-Jill with shared soaking tub/shower). Master BR also has soaking tub. Open and stylish LR/DR/Kitchen area. Large screened porch with dining table, 2 Adirondack chairs, and 6 ft swing. Downstairs, you'll hang out in the outdoor entertainment area, which has a 65" TV, seating for 8, a BBQ grill, and ping pong table. Edisto is "the beach the way it used to be" - no hotels/high rises or chain restaurants/stores - only locally owned shops, casual restaurants, and farm (or ocean!)-to-table dining. Charleston's not far, if you want cultural amenities, but honestly, most people come to Edisto -- to explore, rest, soak up the sun and waves, enjoy nature, and make memories -- and they rarely leave!

Octopus Oak October Beach Trip

Our group of five and a half…plus pets had a fabulous ten days at Octopus Oaks. The house was wonderfully clean, spacious and just perfect! We enjoyed having a puzzle table, plenty of seating and spent a good deal of the time on the screened in porch. It was a quick walk to the beach and the weather was perfect. Having the gorilla cart to take chairs and beach stuff was extra nice. The kitchen had everything we needed and we grilled one night. Edisto also has fabulous restaurants and was great for bike riding and walking. We loved every minute and would surely enjoy returning to Octopus Oaks. Our hosts made sure that we had everything we needed. Hope to return! Thank you.

Octopus Oak Does Not Disappoint!

From the grand live oak upon arrival to spacious living areas, the Octopus Oak was wonderful! It is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the world and only a short walk to the beach. Our family found the house comfortable and uncluttered. The outdoor shower and outdoor living area with conversations laying late into the night were favorites for my crew, and the soaking tub felt incredible after a day on the beach and the little one was asleep! We would definitely stay there again!

Hi. We are from NC and SC, and live currently in Greenville SC. But we love Edisto... we got engaged here, in fact, and love returning whenever we can. We love nature, and the slow pace, and the wholesome environment, and the local businesses. We love the ride out here, through the maritime forests, across the waterways, spotting the birds and Spanish Oak, noticing the tides, and breathing slower and deeper. We love having friends, or any of our 6 kids (and 3 grands), to join whenever they can. We've been known to play bingo at the Lion's Club, but we haven't won yet! And we get out to Botany Bay whenever we can, too. We love hosting guests who appreciate the same things about the house and Edisto that we do.

Why they chose this property

We love the street the house is on, and the ice cream truck that drives by twice a day, and the friendly folks that you meet here. We love our beach access #11, where only bikes and golf carts are allowed, and rounding its curve to see the sea oats, sea turtle nests (in season), and expanse of ocean.

What makes this property unique

The house has been decorated to be casual but contemporary, with just what you need, but not anything that would clutter your experience. We want you to rest and enjoy and make memories. We're close to the beach, so you don't need a golf cart to get there. I think among Edisto properties, there aren't many 4 bedroom places that are pet-friendly, and our outdoor space also is a nice touch. But our absolute favorite feature of the house is the sprawling oak that welcomes you up the front stairs -- it makes the house feel like you're in a treehouse!
