About this property

Spring Specials! Bright & Cheery Lakeside House on Bear Island Lake

Situated in the heart of the scenic northern woodlands of Minnesota, this spacious cabin on Bear Island Lake sleeps up to 7 guests and features 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a year-round bunkhouse, making it the perfect getaway for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Just 15 minutes from the charming town of Ely—gateway to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area—this lakeside retreat gives you easy access to unforgettable outdoor activities, from dog sledding, to canoeing and guided hikes. With ice fishing and snowmobiling right from the property!

Blending rustic charm with modern convenience, the cabin offers high-speed internet, a spa tub, fully equipped kitchen, and a laundry room. Step inside to a bright, open space that combines the kitchen, dining, and living areas—perfect for family meals, game nights, or simply relaxing by the stone gas fireplace. The well-stocked kitchen has everything you need to cook up your favorite dishes, and the private well provides crisp, clean water from 370 feet deep. The dining table seats six, with two extra stools at the island for added flexibility.

The cabin features two inviting bedrooms. The master bedroom includes a king bed that can convert to two singles, in addition this bedroom opens onto a screened sunporch—a dreamy spot to soak in lake breezes and starlit views. The second bedroom has a queen bed and private access through French doors. A spacious full bathroom is located between the two rooms (note: no interior door separates the two bedrooms, only a hallway).

Just steps away, the cozy bunkhouse is perfect for added privacy or extra guests. It sleeps up to three with a full-over-queen bunk bed, features a desk for remote work, and is equipped with heat, AC, and electricity for year-round use.

Outside, take in the breathtaking lake views from two large decks, splash around in the sandy swimming area, or dock your boat (up to three!) on the 24-foot dock. Roast marshmallows at the lakeside firepit, gather around the picnic table, and enjoy peaceful evenings by the water. When winter rolls in, the cabin transforms into a snowy wonderland, with easy access to cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and other seasonal adventures.

With room for up to 7 guests, parking for 3 cars and a trailer, and endless ways to unwind or explore, this is more than a cabin—it’s your home away from home.

We can’t wait to welcome you!

Perfect spot for a family get-away
My husband and I, along with our dog, spent just under a week here in early October. The check-in process was a breeze, the kitchen was fully stocked, and the views of the lake were stunning. And we got to take in an amazing aurora display on our first night, as an added bonus. There were both steps and a meandering trail to the dock, and a spot on the east side of the shore to put in a kayak or canoe. The dock has a bench, making it a perfect spot for fishing or just a relaxing spot to get a way from it all. It is in a lake cabin neighborhood, and we did have a golden retriever roaming around the back yard on our first morning, so that it something to be aware of. This would not be the place for loud, boisterous kids and loose-roaming dogs. But, if you're fairly domesticated folks and you keep tabs on your pet, this would be a great place any time of the year.
