Perfect location

Cute cabin in a great location for hiking and fishing. Close to Pinecrest Lake. Comfortable beds and everything you need for cooking and preparing meals. Beautiful deck for enjoying your morning coffee. Even though there was no A/C there were lots of fans.

First timers

This was our first with private rentals and we had the best experience ever. The Jamison’s were great with communication throughout booking and stay. The property was lovely and very homey. Our little ones felt right at home. The home had everything we needed for our stay.. the neighborhood was excellent and we were able to find a trail close by.. Thank you to the Jamison’s for an amazing stay. You and your family and friends will definitely love this beautiful home. Irene G

Felt like Home

I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for our first trip to Pinecrest Lake. It was my youngest son’s third birthday and our two families were celebrating by having a day at the lake. Pinecrest Lake is a short 10 minutes away, Twain Harte (next town over) about 15-20, and Safeway and Walmart are 30 minutes. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable, with extra sheets and fluffy toppers! The cabin was well-maintained and as another reviewer stated before ** very well cared for and loved**. I stayed in contact with Sue and Bill and every question that I came up with was always answered in a quick, timely, and most patient manner (I had a plethora of questions!!). I never had an issue with Wi-Fi and everything you could or would need in the kitchen was provided. There was also an abundance of kitchen space including the fridge and a medium size shelf/rack for our food and belongings. I was really impressed with all of the cleaning supplies as I had brought my own-but didn’t really need to use it. There was plenty of parking space-not to mention a very short walk to gather everything up the steps. The deck and barbecue area was awesome as well as the remarkable view! The temperature was never too hot or too cold and most of all my kids and family were very comfortable. The entire trip was more than accommodating and I would love to go back and rent the cabin again. Thank you guys!

Cozy and Comfortable

The cabin is very cozy, clean, and well equipped. It's very family friendly and unpretentious which allowed me to feel comfortable and relaxed throughout my stay. The neighborhood is peaceful and nicely located for a short and simple drive to Pinecrest lake. The foosball table is a fun added bonus!

Cute cabin with great location

This cabin comfortably fit two families. It had all the amenities that we needed, and was a short drive to the lake. The beds were super comfortable! Nice outdoor deck area. I don’t think there is AC, but even on a 90+ degree day, the house stayed cool.

A great cabin with all you need for a nice getaway along the Sonoran Pass

The Jamison Cabin is located among tall spruce and pine trees in Long Barn California. Our summer stay with another couple and 2 kids was perfect. The main feature for summer travelers is the deck. Its spacious, shady, and a pleasure to spend time on. The cabin is loved, well maintained, and clean. The kitchen is fully stocked, there are laundry facilities and plenty of comfortable beds. Its about ten minutes to Pinecrest Lake, making it easy to go back and forth. I would suggest looking for availability here first if you are ever planning to be in the area.

What a place!

Destined for a family rendezvous during COVID-19, the only wrench thrown in was when some in our party tested positive and couldn't meet. : ( Outside of that, I don't have enough good things to say about this place. First, the setting is absolutely beautiful. You are less than a five minute walk to a hiking trail taking you into the gorgeous Stanislaus National Forest. It's an easy 6 mile drive to Pinecrest Lake where we went kayaking, swam, and hiked around it one day. Second, the house has plenty of space with a spectacular deck that has two trees coming right through it towards the sky! Really cool. You feel like you're nestled in the forest and it must be even more amazing in winter with snow on the trees. At night, we would hang out on the deck looking up at the splendor of the night sky. Lastly, the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the internet wasn't great (although the host was very communicative and up front about this which we appreciated) and the cable wasn't HD. But these are minor quibbles for a place where the primary goal should be to relax in nature. In that regard, this place does not disappoint! We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back.

Great weekend getaway

This is a nice house in a great location. The deck was our favorite place to hang out. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything you need. I appreciated having enough paper towels, napkins, and plastic wrap. Some homes are stingy with those.

Great cabin

Nice clean cabin with plenty of room for a large group (up to 8 guests). Close to Dodge Ridge and Pine Crest Lake (15 minutes) and plenty of amenities. Use the WiFi sparingly though...it's satellite with 600-800 ms of latency. Gaming and real-time video doesn't work on a connection like that (because you can't change the laws of physics) but it's plenty useful for email and looking up directions etc. There are plenty of blankets and bedding along with a full kitchen. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

Great cabin for family

My family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed at this cabin over New Years. The kids loved the bunk beds and having a little bit of snow on the property to play in upon arrival. Check-in process was super easy and clear, as was the check-out process. The cabin is located in a nice quiet neighborhood of other cabins and is about 15 min away from the town of Twain Harte and 20 minutes from Leland Sierra Snow Park. The cabin had everything we needed to relax and be able to unwind- including all the kitchen items needed to cook our meals. Being that our stay was right after Christmas the cabin was decorated with some wonderful holiday decor and lights around the deck which made the cabin feel so cozy! The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of soft blankets. Freshly laundered sheets and towels were provided and the cabin was very clean. We loved our stay!

A memorable vacation!

We had a wonderful week at this lovely home. It worked perfectly for our family of grandchildren, children, and grandmother. The kids had a blast biking around the quiet neighborhood, playing games on the deck, and hockey when they finally had to come in at night. The kitchen made cooking easy and the bedrooms accommodated us comfortably. The owners were responsive and thoughtful. We would love to come back!

Fun, comfortable spot in a great location

The cabin is adorable, comfy and clean. We had a great time playing scrabble on the deck at night and drinking coffee in the morning. It was a perfect fit for the 6 of us, and well-equipped with everything we needed to cook. Quick drive to the lake, where we spent most of our time.

Very nice cabin and we had a fine time!

Bill And Sue's place was just what we needed, very comfortable, great location, easy to access all the spots we wanted to visit, and they were very easy to communicate with. Sue was gracious enough to add Showtime for us so we could watch some movies (and talked us through getting channels that we missed)....

Wonderful stay in a beautiful mountain retreat

Our family of four came up to the Pinecrest area for one last family vacation before summer ends. We enjoyed our time at this wonderful cabin so much...we were sad to leave! This cabin was perfect for our young family. Lots of room for our 4 and 6 year olds, and close proximity to the beautiful Pinecrest Lake. The kids loved playing with the foosball table, and the large deck had plenty of room for us all. There was everything we could need for cooking and comfort, and the cabin was immaculate. Wonderful stay!

Fantastic Experience!!

We rented this clean, comfortable cabin for a week in July. We had our two adult sons with us and some of their friends. There was plenty of room for eight of us. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to work with. The barbecue was clean and ready to go and we used it frequently. The cabin is in a quiet neighborhood and we had no trouble with noisy neighbors. It is only a ten minute drive to Pinecrest Lake and we spent our days swimming and hiking. Sue was tremendous, very responsive to any questions we had and ALWAYS got back to us very quickly. Overall, I'd totally recommend this cabin.

Cozy, VERY comfortable, peaceful retreat in the beautifu Sierra Nevadas

Really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin. When you stay somewhere new, you never really know for sure what you're going to get. This cozy cabin was so comfortable and inviting...I must put a word in about the VERY comfortable beds (better than my own at home!). Everything we could need was provided...so nice to have the beds all made up for us upon arrival. Wifi and washer/dryer were appreciated. The cabin was spotless and decorated so nicely...this was truly a RESTFUL stay. Besides enjoying a BBQ on the beautiful deck, we also enjoyed a fantastic meal just up the road at Mia's. Owners were so helpful and friendly and made the process of booking a breeze. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommend!

Served our purpose well

We were attending a wedding held at camp Sylvester and this was perfect distance. The beds were for the most part comfy except for the bottom bunk bed and the downstairs pullout. The upstairs bed (the room without the bunk bed) was where I slept and it was very comfortable. (and I am picky!) The huge outside deck was my favorite part and like others, we had some fun playing games on the table inside as well. The other thing to be aware of is the limited wi fi data usage. There is not unlimited access to wifi and we had some young adults who needed that as well as my husband to connect to his work. A last concern are the scratched teflon pans which are not recommended to use in this condition. Since they have a great gas stove, cast iron would be wonderful. But over all it was a great place to stay. Very comfy and good energy! I would definitely stay there again!

CHARMING, CLEAN, GREAT LOCATION

We wanted to experience staying in a CABIN, not a generic hotel/motel and this cabin more than fit the bill! Our family had plenty of room and the kids spent hours on the foosball table and like having their own private TV with appropriate DVDs in the upstairs den. Beds were really comfortable, linens very nice, and the cabin was clean! We liked that the owners have a binder with area things to do/places to go/restaurants, etc. The owners made the whole process really easy. TOTALLY 5 STARS!!

About the host

Host profile image
We grew up in the Central Valley of California, but we LOVE the mountains! It was a long-held dream of ours to be able to own a cabin in the pines, and after we retired we were able to make that dream a reality.

Why they chose this property

We have cherished photos of 5 generations of our family taken in the Pinecrest Lake area. We love it here and have been coming up every year as a family ever since our children were very small.

We had been looking for some time for a cabin to love and we were so fortunate to be able to find this one in 2011. As soon as we drive past the first fragrant stand of pine trees near Twain Harte, we find ourselves in vacation mode.

We especially enjoy all the outdoor activities available - from driving over the stunning SONORA PASS to Bridgeport, HIKING around Pinecrest Lake (something everyone should do at least once), taking an easy day trip to YOSEMITE, FISHING in the nearby lakes, HORSE BACK RIDING at Kennedy Meadows, and of course SWIMMING in Pinecrest Lake or Beardsley Reservoir.

What makes this property unique

OUR HUGE FRONT DECK IS ONE THAT EVERYONE WILL ENJOY! It receives just the right amount of sun and shade to sunbathe or read. At night, the stars seen above the trees are a wonder! Although our kitchen has everything a cook may need, there are outstanding restaurants a short drive away. We enjoy the wonderful Italian food at Mia's, the oversized hamburgers and steaks at The Steam Donkey, and driving up to Kennedy Meadows for a mountain air breakfast.
If you enjoy horse-back riding, you'll find it nearby in the Dodge Ridge area and at Kennedy Meadows.
Twain Harte is 20 minutes away and has great restaurants, golfing and boutique shopping.
Sonora is an easy 30 minute drive and has an abundance of grocery stores and eateries. The Sierra Repertory Theater in Sonora offers truly outstanding live productions year round.
In the winter months, skiing and snow boarding at Dodge Ridge is minutes away. There are wonderful sledding hills nearby for the younger ones. In the summer you'll be glad to have a place like our cabin to 'come home' to.
When the sun goes down, you can savor your favorite beverage in front of the fire or on the deck.
Our home is across the street from the Stanislaus National Forest with hiking trails and nature walks. In the evening, don't be surprised to see deer munching near the driveway.
Although our cabin sits tall in the trees, it's possible to drive right next to the deck, leaving you with only a very minimal number of stairs to climb - especially convenient when carrying your gear in.
