I’m currently accepting new bookings for 2025, please feel free to reach out! This beautiful and light boutique style apartment is situated in the leafy Plantage area which is in the heart of the city of Amsterdam.

It has been completely renovated and lovingly furnished. The spacious apartment has high original ornamental ceilings, a display fireplace and 3 large windows on the North and South side.

The kitchen is like everything else in the apartment – simple, beautiful and high quality and is fully equipped including dishwasher, fridge-freezer, washer/dryer, SMEG hob/oven and granite worktops.

The bathroom includes a large walk-in shower with double basin vanity unit. The bedroom has an original ornamental ceiling, king-sized bed, built-in wardrobes and two large original doors that close the bedroom and bathroom from the open-plan living/kitchen space. The WC/toilet is located separately to the bathroom.

Each piece of furniture has been chosen to create a beautiful and relaxing home. The apartment also has high-speed wireless internet, and a 55 inch Samsung Smart TV, cable and Netflix

This first-floor apartment is located very close to the Amsterdam Business School on a leafy and charming street in a quiet residential part of the city.

Within 1-3 mins you can walk to various local cafes, restaurants, bakery, supermarket, book store, Kriterion (arty) movie house, Oosterpark (lovely green park), multiple canals, Artis Zoo and the metro/tram.

Take a 10-15 min (beautiful and safe) walk, and you are out of the calm and tranquility and into the buzzing ‘hub’ of the more crowded, busy, exciting and ‘touristy’ part of the city.

If you are looking for a beautiful, quiet, relaxing well loved home to stay in which is right in the heart of the city to enjoy while you explore the canals, museums, shops, parks, restaurants and culture of Amsterdam, then this apartment is the perfect choice.

A great place to stay

The apartment was very clean and well stocked with what we needed. The king bed was very comfortable. The location was perfect. The apartment was facing the street, but the windows were noise-canceling. The host was very responsive. We had a problem and it was fixed promptly. A grocery store was nearby. There are restaurants very close, One nice area we didn't discover until the end of the trip was by the zoo which was 3 blocks away. Lots of nice restaurants in that area. We had a lovely trip to Amsterdam!

Brilliant appartment!

Lovely well equipped first floor appartment. Great attention to detail! Absolutely everything you would need. Ideal space for a couple - and lots of room. All the charm of an old building but with all the mod cons! Good location - quiet but easy to get to all the tourist spots. Supermarket and off license just five minutes away. Take a right from appartment, go to top of street and take a left. They are beside each other on the left a few metres up the street. (Only downside - the very steep stairs up to appartment so would not be suitable for anyone with limited mobility)

Excellent!

The apartment was perfectly situated within walking distance to restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and the city. Kate was an excellent host, easy to communicate with and very accommodating. She kindly arranged a very early check in for us (6.30am) which was amazing after the long trip from Australia. Yuri was very helpful meeting us at the apartment at both check in and check out time. I highly recommend a stay here.

My husband and I loved this place! The apartment is so pretty and the neighborhood was really great.

It was close enough to the attractions and tram stops. Kate, the property manager, was really nice and helpful! I chose this place partially based on all the great reviews and they are so well deserved. We would absolutely stay here again.

Fabulous Stay in Amsterdam

From start to finish this was a 5 star rental experience. Kate Gordon greeted us as we arrived, helped with the luggage, and gave us a careful explanation of the apartment's appliances etc. The apartment itself is magnificent: very much like the photos and wonderfully comfortable...we felt completely relaxed in it. When it was time to leave, Kate called us a cab, and waited until we were off safely. All in all a superb experience.

Great Place

The apartment was a perfect spot close to the Univ of Amsterdam. Less than 5 minutes from tram and easy access to city center. Next door to apartment were two very good breakfast places. The place was comfortable and clean. Would stay here again if and when we return to Amsterdam. Great city, great place to stay while there.

Stylish apartment in walking distance of major attractions.

Beautifully appointed modern apartment in listed building with high ceilings. Equipped with everything you might need and more. Very clean and comfortable. Kate welcomed us and gave us lots of tips on places to go, places to eat, shop etc. Lovely neighbourhood near the University. Only one possible drawback, there are over 20 steep stairs to enter the apartment and no elevator. However, Kate and Yuri we’re both happy to help with luggage. We hope to return some day as 3 days were not enough for this beautiful city.

Another 5 star rating

We were very pleased with Kate's apartment and agree with all the positive comments others have written. The apartment has everything one could want in an Amsterdam apartment: location, well-stocked kitchen, quiet neighborhood, access to public transportation, restaurants, and a supermarket. When we encountered a problem (of our own making), Kate and Yuri were quick to solve it. Other reviewers have neglected to mention that the apartment has numerous guide books and maps that came in handy. We enthusiastically recommend this apartment.

Very nice, quiet location

If you want to be away from the noisy and crowded tourist area and near public metro and trams to get anywhere within minutes this is a very nice location. Nestled in an area with schools and university you can experience Amsterdam like a local. The 1 bedroom, king bed apartment had everything you might need for a comfortable stay. The stairs up 1 flight are steep but have good rails on both sides. Windows on front and back all open for a nice breeze. They even left water, beer and soda in fridge on arrival and owner or helper are there on arrival and departure and work with your time schedule. One of my best BnB experiences.

Comfortable, Clean and Beautiful

We were met by Kate, who explained the apartment to us. We asked her for restaurant recommendations, which she promptly e-mailed to us. We tried three of her choices and enjoyed all of them, especially La Plantage, which was about a four minute walk from our apartment. And what an apartment! The architectural details were beautiful, the shower huge and modern, the kitchen clean and modern with everything we could need provided. After a day haunting the amazing art museums of Amsterdam, we were glad to return to “our” comfy apartment! There was a grocery store three minutes away, where we found a great choice of delicious entrees to reheat, so we stayed in several nights. There is also a wine store next to the grocery store. We soon mastered the transit system: there was a Metro stop not far away, and a tram that dropped us off right by the Ryjksmuseum. We took the Metro to the Central Train Station to make a day trip to Delft and The Hague to see more Vermeer paintings. Amsterdam is a visual feast, and our trip was immeasurably improved by staying in Kate’s apartment! Did I say that the bed was very comfortable and the apartment tastefully furnished? It was! When we checked out, Yury helped us with carrying our luggage downstairs. What a charming gentleman! In short, we found the apartment to be perfect for our needs, and we would highly recommend it to anyone who wanted to spend time in Amsterdam!

Amazing Apartment in Amsterdam

We had 5 lovely nights at this apartment in Amsterdam. It is perhaps the most well equipped and comfortable apartment we have rented anywhere. The pictures really are accurate for the amenities. It is spacious, stocked with everything we needed, and very comfortable. There is an amazing grocery very close and some nearby cafes. It's easy to get to all the sites using the subway system and the tram, and walking in the neighborhoods is fun and easy. The owner, Kate, is wonderful to work with, and can answer questions you might have very quickly. A wonderful experience awaits you!

Central & Comfortable

Property was as per description. It was very central and easy to get around with the possible exception of the bikes in the city, you really have to keep your wits about you. This does not in the least distract from the apartment. We would consider staying there again on a return to the city

5 Day Visit

All was as advertised and Kate Gordon was very accommodating. As long as one is comfortable with trams and the metro, travel is reasonable. Otherwise, cabs into downtown will run about 17 euros. For seniors, be aware the 1st floor is not the ground floor and involves a flight of steep steps.

Great apartment; odd arrangements

The good: The apartment is very well located in a quiet university neighbourhood just down the block from an elementary school. The apartment has everything you need and is very clean. It passed the white sock test. The bed is comfortable, king sized. Overall a very nice apartment. The odd: Requiring 100% payment upfront, then after booking requesting a contract be signed AND 200 Euros cash be handed over at the beginning of the rental as a deposit. After 28 hours with no sleep we finally reached the apartment. We were met by a gentleman who was impatient. He was eager to show how everything in the apartment worked as quickly as possible. He asked what date and time we would be leaving. We hesitated about the time and he insisted we pick a time right then. (Of course, this is because of the $200 Euro deposit, which he wanted to return to us. If the owner used the VRBO deposit method the deposit requirement would be more transparent and perhaps this extra meeting wouldn’t be necessary.) He also made sure we understood the cleaning we were expected to do at the end of the rental. Cleaning? Really? It was not the best first impression. Only other communication during our stay was a reminder to make sure we did that cleaning! The owner did arrive on the last day to return our deposit and she kindly helped us get a cab to the airport. Now the cleaning wasn’t horrible but it’s a first to be asked to empty all the waste baskets... So overall, the owner could learn to trust her guests more and really ensure they enjoy their once in a lifetime vacations.

Beautiful, well-appointed apartment in a great location

We loved staying at Kate's place. The apartment is spacious, airy, well-lit and impeccably clean. The bathroom, shower and the kitchen are modern and attractive, while the apartment itself has lovely old touches, such a decorative molding. You can walk almost anywhere from here and you are close to mass transit, too. Highly recommended.

Our stay at this property was very pleasant - actually one of the best in Europe. Yuri was waiting to meet us upon our arrival. He oriented us to the property and went on his way. The apartment was very clean, neat and organized...spacious too! The location was close enough to the city center to get to everything we wanted to see yet just far enough to not hear the city noise at night. The bed was comfortable, there were plenty of clean towels and linens and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you will need. Yuri met us promptly at the agreed upon time for us to check out and receive back our security deposit. Couldn't have been more pleased.

Better than expected

Kate’s place is gorgeous. Better than the pictures. The neighborhood is fairly quiet. (If you’ve ever been to Amsterdam, you know that there can be a lot of noise from the street below. Even though this is a quieter neighborhood, if you’re used to a silent subdivision...bring earplugs). Very close to tram and metro. This was my 7th time to Amsterdam but the first time I purchased the iAmsterdam card with access to museums and public transport. It was great to be able to hop on and off the tram and metro and in many cases the only way to get into the sold out Van Gogh museum. The apartment is close to an Albert Hein for groceries. Please note as of 4/2019 this location of Albert Hein takes cash, v-pay, or Maestro epay, NO credit/debit cards. There is a nice bagel place for breakfast on the corner and a restaurant called La Plange with a dynamite atmosphere just a short walk away. Have fun!

Wonderful Flat - Great Owner - Convenient Location - Well-equipped

From the beginning of the reservation process through our checking out of this flat, the process was flawless. The owner Kate is amazing. I don't know if she ever sleeps, because emails were always answered within an hour or two. The flat is vey clean, well-furnished, equipped with everything imaginable (appliances, drinks, toiletries, soap and paper goods), great WiFi and cable television, plenty of hot water, and the bed is probably the most comfortable of the many vacation rentals in which we have stayed. The location is great, and public transportation to anywhere in the city is 2 or 3 blocks away. I cannot recommend this apartment and its owner strongly enough. I wish I could give it 10 stars!

Above and beyond expectations!

We arrived about 2 hours late from our pre-arranged time, yet Yuri was still there to meet us and showed us all the various amenities of the apartment. Probably the very best VRBO accommodation that we have ever experienced, and we have experienced many! There was nothing that wasn’t thought of.. everything we needed was right there and ready to use. The location is extremely quiet, yet a short minute walk to the Metro as well as main bus connections. I highly recommend this site and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Last but not least, Kate was simply amazing in staying in contact with us... from asking if we were ok when we were running late to arrive.. to helping us work thru the washer/ dryer routine! Thank you Kate for letting us share your wonderful apartment! We could not have been happier!

Pleasant Apartment in a residential area.

This apartment is within walking distance of 3 Metro stops that provide easy access to all of Amsterdam. The apartment is across some of University of Amsterdam and the street is very quiet at night. There is a supermarket within walking distance as well as many restaurants. The De Plantage Restaurant by the Artis Zoo is excellent and requires a reservation: plan ahead.

Hi! I live locally and so I am always on hand if you have any questions or need any suggestions on what to do or where to go, eat or what to see when you are staying in this wonderful and calm oasis in central Amsterdam.

Why they chose this property

I love the Plantage area of Central Amsterdam. It's green and leafy, charming, full of restaurants and local cafes. It's very safe and quiet and provides a truly local and authentic experience of Amsterdam.

It's in the old Jewish quarter and is steeped in history. The location is BEAUTIFUL. In the heart of the city and yet away from the tourists and crowds.

What makes this property unique

This area of Amsterdam is incredibly beautiful. Quiet, relaxed, residential, friendly, safe and full of culture, museums, canals and the Amsterdam University.

Locals sitting outside in the sunshine in cafe terraces, children playing, students at the University and locals going about their daily lives.
