A great home to get together and get away. Plenty of space for everyone. Lovely property to walk around. Hosts were great communicators and went out of their way when we had a car issue. We've been there three times and will be back.

Perfect weekend
We enjoyed our time at the camp for our 5th time. We brought snowshoes for our first try and had fresh snow to try them out. Our labs love the long walks around the area. I finally won a little at the casino for the first time in a few years! A perfect place for a getaway. Thanks and we will see you next year.

Family Trip
1st time using VRBO and we were not disappointed. Cabin was clean and very inviting. Location was ideal as it was a little secluded but only a short distance to a bigger city. Definitely enjoyed the amenities the place offered - good sized back yard, 2 ponds/lakes, rowboats, fire pit - just to name a few. Would highly recommend staying here.

Just perfect
This was a large and comfortable cabin with all the amenities we could have wanted. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and it was just perfect. We relaxed and enjoyed the fireplace and grilling out on the back deck. We walked around the woods and enjoyed the lake. Very pleased with the whole experience.

Sibling getaway
8 of us gather every fall - this was a wonderful place to hang out. We had extraordinary good weather so used the deck and grill and spent time watching sandhill cranes on the pond. WiFi was great. It would be good to inform guests that a wall switch is linked to turning on the tv. Kitchen was well equipped for our many meals. Guests need to know this is a remote location, which we loved, yet it’s quite a drive to go out to eat.

Game-cation at Camp Okee-dokee
Our two families - 4 adults and 2 kids- spent the weekend here playing games and relaxing. We loved the house! It had everything we needed, well-stocked kitchen, clean bedrooms, great view of the woods and a little bit of the lake from the house. Great layout, especially for families, with the bedrooms on one side of the house. And the living room was so cozy! Very quiet location, we had bonfires every night and heard owls and coyotes. The owners were easy to book with and the house had instructions on how to use things which helped a lot. We'll definitely be coming back to camp okee-dokee! Thanks for a great weekend!

About the host

Host profile image
Kim and Steve take pride in making your vacation a memorable experience. We love the peace, quiet and scenery of the north woods and enjoy sharing this wonderful property with others who feel likewise.

Why they chose this property

Our home is on other side of the meadow from this vacation rental. We bought the property because we wanted to preserve the log home which had fallen into disrepair. After considerable renovation, we opened the property, which we named Camp Okee-Dokee, for renting in the summer 2011.

What makes this property unique

If you have a crazy job and schedule and just need peace, quiet, and are content with star-filled evenings and watching wildlife -- this is the perfect place. We've hosted many friends and family gatherings. A few families have made this their annual spot for a decade now. There is plenty of space for everyone. Being together, playing games, reading, sight seeing, swimming, skiing, hiking... or just hanging out to relax is all on the itinerary at Camp Okee-Dokee. And, if you like gaming action or live entertainment, we are centrally located within 16 miles of three native-owned casinos. As of 2022, we still do not have wifi in the cabin, but fiberoptic has been buried up to the house. We hope the final installation will be completed to provide internet service to the house sometime yet this year. For the more than a decade that we've had this business without internet service, we are particularly grateful to all our loyal patrons who came to enjoy the few days or weeks of quiet, peaceful "unplugged, off-line time" at Camp Okee-Dokee.
