Nice ski-in and ski-out property that worked well for our family of 6 people (2 adults and 4 teenagers).
Located just steps from the Upper or Blackcomb Village, which is the much smaller and quieter village of the 3 in Whistler. Its next door, or 200 steps up the ski hill from the Fairmont Chateau Whistler and Four Seasons. Close to the shops in the Upper Village, and about a 12 minute walk, or free bus ride, to the hustle and bustle of the main Lower Village area.
PROS
- 75 steps from the ski valet pick-up near the front desk, to the slopes where you step into your skis or board. From there, its about 100 meters downhill to the bottom of the Wizard lift, and Blackcomb Village shops. Super easy access, and probably the least amount of walking with skis and poles of any condo/hotel in Whistler. From the ski valet, it was approx another 75 steps to our room. Very short.
- Hot Tubs were large, hot and worked well. They were a bit crowded at peak post-ski time (5 pm), but not bad. The large tub with the center island (great for setting one's beverage on) was a bit noisy, as the air intake for the bubble system was loud and noisy (some people took to jamming a snowball into the intake pipe to quiet it - mgmt needs to address this).
- Condo Unit is "nice". Its a standard 2 bedroom layout with main room in the center flanked by bedrooms on the the sides. It did feel like each room was a touch bigger than most 2 bedroom units we have stayed in at other ski resorts. The "european" or "IKEA-style" couch in the living room looked odd and uncomfortable, but it unfolded to two twinsize beds that our boys loved. They usually kept one side unfolded and in the bed position during our stay. So it looked odd, but worked great. Same for the Master Bed. Its on a pedastal that is wider than the mattress, and you run into it with your feet a half-dozen times walking around the bed the first day. But the ledge makes for a great spot to put on your socks, shoes or ski boots.
- Good kitchen/cooking equipment and supplies (pots, pans, knives, etc.)
- New fridge w cool blue interior lights
CONS
-dishwasher leaked onto the floor
-master bath tile is old and 2-3 tiles have large cracks
-kitchen has formica countertops
-no spices or seasonings. In many condos the spice department is overflowing with leftovers from prior guests, providing a wide selection when cooking
-Ski valet overwhelmed at morning pick-up, 5-15 minute wait
Upgrade tile and add granite
