Very beautiful scenery location was very private and quiet. Don’t expect any conveniences but great place to unplug from everything. Nature and company….very nice!! Best part was no TV
This cabin was just what we were looking for. We wanted a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The views were amazing and all neighbors were very helpful and friendly. The cabin was very cozy and we enjoyed the fire place every night.
Easy to find and wonderful little stay! Loved how we didn’t have service or Wi-Fi. We own a few businesses and it was truly a great “offline” getaway! Will definitely stay again!
This cabin was perfect for our anniversary weekend getaway. It was close to the things that we wanted to do over the weekend. It is a bit of a drive to get back to the cabin but still very close to all the fun. I wouldn't let that discourage you from staying there. It is in a quiet housing community called Silver City. We did not have cell service at the cabin which helped us unplug. We would definitely stay there again. Bonus were the turkeys, deer and hummingbirds that greeted us on arrival!
Cozy cabin to get away from it all! We went with our 12 year old son and it was the perfect size for us.
Within driving distance to all the big stops in SD (Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer SP, Deadwood, etc.)
The cabin was clean and well stocked with all cookware needed.
If you’re looking for peace and to unplug - this is the place :)
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was very neat and clean with all of the amenities we wanted. Because of a minor medical emergency we spent more time at the cabin than planned but we couldn’t have been happier. So quiet even though it was a very windy weekend. Wild turkeys and deer were walking around at all hours. My husband would have preferred to have a shower but I found the tub suited just fine. We really liked the cabin.
Great property. We loved the well equipped kitchen area, the proximity to the lake, and the quietness of the area. Owners made the check-in and check-out hassle-free. Would absolutely do again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin. It was on the edge of the small village of Silver City with a forested mountain slope directly behind, giving it a remote sense, while providing all of the comforts of a modern life. The fireplace was most enjoyable, and provided enough heat in early April that the electric heat was barely needed. We were sorry to need to leave a few days early due to a major storm, but the hosts were most gracious and offered to work with us. We hope to return in the future. Thank you for a great weekend in the scenic Black Hills of South Dakota!
THIS WAS MY GREAT ESCAPE. PERFECT PLACE AND LOCATION IF YOUR ALONE AND LOOKING TO GET AWAY FOR SOME ALONE TIME. VERY PEACFUL!! EVERYTHING IS YOU COULD NEED IS FURNISHED AND PROVIDED FOR. BEAUTIFUL VIEWS. LOVED THE FIREPLACE!!!
We initially thought this cabin was a little more isolated but it was still the quiet getaway we were looking for. Nestled in a small community the residents we encountered were friendly. The wildlife was amazing to see out each window and the views were spectacular! The soaking tub was great after long days of hiking and exploring, the grill worked perfectly along with the kitchen, and the beds were comfortable.
We will definitely book this place again in the future.

About the host
Hosted by Rita Chapman
Both of us have lived in South Dakota since we were 12. We raced bicycles (on and off road) for 10 years before settling in Silver City. Tally has participated in the Race Across America - finishing twice and Rita was an Expert Cross Country National Champion in Mountain Biking. Our history of traveling, racing and hosting other poor cyclists at our home influenced us in our purchase of Tallys' fathers cabin business. It has suited us tremendously, we love to meet people and help them have a memorable vacation.
Why they chose this property
We would love to share our little slice of heaven in Silver City with anyone in need of a place to “get away from it all”.
What makes this property unique
There are unlimited activities available in the Black Hills from kayaking, inner tubing down the creek, rock climbing, cross country or downhill skiing, hunting, running, geocaching, fishing, off road trail riding with ATV's or UTV. We love being outdoors. Mountain biking, running and hiking are our favorite activities in Silver City. You are a stranger only once and we welcome you to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life.
