Perfect Landing Spot

This house was in perfect walking distance from all things Clayton. The property was clean and welcoming, and was the perfect landing spot after long days of exploring the area.

The perfect stay in the Islands!

We have traversed the country from coast to coast, border to border and this is truly one of the best properties we have stayed at. Communication with the hosts was excellent and always warm and friendly. The property was impeccably clean, well stocked, and has comfortable beds. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and sundries. Centrally located in the 1000 Islands makes it a short drive to anything you want to see or do in the area.

Excellent experience!

We enjoyed our stay in this home very much! Catherine was very generous and helpful to us throughout our stay. This home was exceptionally clean and very nicely decorated. It had all the comforts of home, including a Pac-Man game that was fun to play. Our hosts went above and beyond in trying to make our week pleasant. There is plenty to do in the Thousand Island area. We particularly liked Boldt Castle and enjoyed the tour very much. My husband, Scott, loved watching the freighters. Playing golf was very inexpensive, unlike here in Connecticut. There was a very nice variety of shops and restaurants to enjoy. We highly recommended this as a vacation destination!

About the host

My husband and I are from small town Geneseo, NY. John runs a behavioral health agency and I am a principal of an Early College High School. Outside of our day jobs, we love remodeling homes, doing home projects, and putting on additions. When we found this house back in 2022, it was in pretty rough shape, but we saw it for what it could be! Every inch of this house has been either cleaned, painted, rebuilt or reconstructed. We took down a wall in the kitchen, opened it all up. We've installed new windows throughout the main house, installed new flooring, painted the entire home (inside and out), added a simple garden out front and hung our Silver Pelican flag!
Catherine has always dreamt of having a traditional Bed and Breakfast. This is the next best thing. Hosting folks in our home so that they can enjoy the River, Clayton and the 1000 Islands like we have for so many years, brings us such joy!

Why they chose this property

My family has been vacationing at the 1000 Islands since I was a young girl. My father's family is from the area, so we have many local relatives. The area is rich in memories of our childhood and family heritage. Our home sits just feet from the main intersection of Clayton, so it is convenient to many amenities. We're right across from the convenient store (gas, ice, food, basic essentials). Less than a block from the grocery store, liquor store. Less than a half mile walk to the River, churches, parks, restaurants, pubs, shops, including the Antique Boat Museum, River Rat Cheese and Coyote Moon Wine Shop. There is so much to see and explore.

What makes this property unique

Our house is also also our second home at times. Our kitchen is a full kitchen, so you can cook or bake if you wish! Our front porch has become our favorite place to relax, play games, drink our morning coffee, and people watch! Located at the center of it all, whether you're interested in staying in Clayton and enjoying everything it has to offer, or bouncing to Cape Vincent, or Alex Bay or beyond, it's close to most of everything!
