Perfect location

Dog-friendly two bedroom bungalow is perfectly situated to the beach, attractions, restaurants and such. Five small units are tucked between a large three-story house and a public access to the beach. My unit could’ve used updating and a really thorough cleaning before occupancy.

Relaxing week!

The cottage is adorable and well kept. It is convenient to grocery stores and restaurants. Loved the beach access and used it frequently during this rainy week which allowed us to maximize our beach time.

Great little beach getaway

Lovely old-style beach cottage just steps from the ocean… Gar Brooks was perfect for the two of us and the pup. The dune is high, so there’s no view from the porch, but it’s literally out the door, up the steps onto the dune, and there it is… a very nice stretch of beach leading down to the waves. Nice kitchen is well-equipped, and the location is great; close to shops and restaurants but tucked away from the hustle and bustle. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with a casual feel that’s just what we want at the beach. Owner left a nice little goodie bag that included treats us and for the dog. Hope we can visit again!

Great little place right on the beach

We have been staying here off and on for the past 15 years (since before Vrbo was a thing.) Absolutely love the location you are in walking distance to several restaurants/bars. The house is great and being 50 yards from the front porch to the beach is really awesome.

The units are in the heart of Nags Head and right in the beach. The units could use some updates (bed, couch cushions, bathroom sink counter and ceiling paining).

Gar Brooks is fantastic!

The home is great! It was clean and comfortable. Mr Manson sets the standard for homeowners. We’re hoping to come back in 2024 and rent both Gar Brooks and Tina Tuna for a family vacation.

Great Little Cottage

We were pleasantly surprised when we saw our cottage, Gar Brooks. The pictures online did not do it justice. The cottage was cozy and charming. Private access to the beach was great. If we return to the Outer Banks, we would definitely stay here again. The welcome package, and treats for our dog were a nice surprise.

Quaint and cozy

Cute, cozy and quaint. This two bedroom home is steps away from the ocean on a private path. Very quiet and peaceful. Close to the action and restaurants. My only suggestion is to upgrade living seating not very comfortable. I would stay again for sure.

Excellent location

The cottage was just as described. It offered all the comforts of home and the location was perfect. The private beach access was wonderful, and we loved the chaise lounge chairs at the top of the private dune. The cottage was clean. I would recommend a door mat inside the kitchen door and working latches on the screen doors. We had our dog with us, and he could push the screen doors open with his nose. We would definitely stay again. The host was very friendly and kind. Thank you for sharing your cottages!!

Sublime Beach Experience

Our family rented out all 4 small cottages in the 2 Fish Cay row and we had a wonderful week. The addition of the large lounge chairs at the top of the little dune of the private beach access were fantastic. We loved gathering there in the mornings to enjoy our coffee and again in the late evening for cocktails after a day at the ocean. We had a lovely week. The ease of access to the ocean was amazing. So easy and safe for children and everyone to walk over the small dune of the private beach access and back to the cottages as needed throughout the days. Thank you very much, Jessica Travis

Beach Cottage

I usually don’t write reviews but always read them so hopefully this helps others looking for a place to stay. Positives-the cottage’s location was super close to the beach and was nice. The shower was great. Negatives-the cottage wasn’t that clean. There was a lot of dog hair and it was dusty (especially behind the master bed). The place in general needs a thorough cleaning and some tlc. Because of covid, we bought groceries and cooked there. We were careful about crumbs and keeping things neat (just like we do at home) and had ants all over the kitchen after the first night. Even after putting as much as we could in the fridge and microwave, ants were everywhere. We brought our own bedding, towels, paper towels, trash bags, toilet paper, and dish soap but it would have been nice to have a few of those things there. We knew we needed to bring them but I think the owners should provide some of the basics. Lastly, there needs to be more timely communication from the owners. I emailed before our trip and it took over a week to receive a reply. Then we ended up leaving a day early so I emailed that we checked out and still have not heard from them. Their posting mentions that there is no dishwasher and washer and dryer so be aware of that before choosing the cottage.

Wonderful Getaway!

I was looking for a peaceful week long retreat and Gar Brooks was perfection! Steps from the beach, my dog and I enjoyed daily walks, sunrises and sunsets. The wifi allowed me to get a bit of work done and the kitchen was well appointed for cooking. We can’t wait to visit again!
