We offer a genuine outdoor experience for those looking to escape the everyday. Nestled amidst nature, our off-grid, unplugged A-frame cabins provide the perfect base for adventure & relaxation. Located between the GSM and the Cherokee NF, adventure is all around. We are only 5 miles from white-water rafting, ziplining, and so much more!

Cabin Q is just big enough for a quaint mountain retreat. Whether you want one cabin for a couple's getaway or you need multiple cabins for a family vacation, Halls Top Hangout is here to accommodate. Our 5 Moonshine Cabins are connected via boardwalks that lead to a community fire pit and 3 separate grilling stations. Firewood and lighters are provided for guests.

From the outside, each cabin has a covered front porch with 2 outdoor chairs to enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee. Outdoor hooks are provided for wet clothes after a white-water rafting trip on the Pigeon River just 5 miles away.

Once inside you will find a comfy queen-sized bed complete with linens, bedding, pillows, and bedside tables tucked underneath a skylight for late night and early morning views. Each cabin features different bed orientations to offer variety for guests to choose their favorite. Underneath the bed is a grilling box filled with grilling utensils, charcoal, and a lighter. There is plenty of under-the-bed storage for an ice chest and suitcases. Since we are nestled under a canopy at a higher elevation, night times stay cool enough to not need A/C. Wall mounted fans are provided, as well as portable buddy heaters for winter months. Heaters have approximately 4 hours of run time.

The front of the cabin features 2 towels with hooks, an indoor chair, trash can, a battery pack for charging needs, and a flashlight.

Both the window in the back of the cabin and the front door open to a screen to allow for constant air flow. Room fans are mounted on the wall. Small buddy heaters are available in cabins during winter (run time- 4 hours).

Across the fire pit area, cabins have access to 2 private bathhouses equipped with a tankless water heater powered via solar panels. Thermostat-controlled wall heaters are also provided. The side of the bathhouse features an outdoor sink for washing grilling utensils and coffee supplies. Guests are provided with a water jug, camping stove, and kettle/french press.

The 3 grilling stations are spread out among the cabins and feature homemade tables and chairs, a grilling table with hooks, lighter fluid, and a grill.

Be sure to bring your personal essentials, ice chest with food and water, coffee grinds, and a sense of adventure!

*This listing includes only 1 cabin. Cabin Q features a queen-sized bed set across the back of the cabin. It has a large front porch and is completely shaded.

Nice cozy getaway for a weekend

Me and spouse along with our pet stayed here for two nights. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back for our cabin needs. Shout out to Brittany for being flexible with our requests. Who ever planning to visit , search for “halls top hangouts” instead of the actual address. This will eliminate all the patchy roadway and if you are looking for near by food places, do visit janice’s Diner they do have some amazing food.

What a Wonderful Place

The hosts were incredible, so kind, welcoming, and helpful! The whole place was well set up, clean and safe. There were clear instructions on how to use everything and where everything is. Very remote, but definitely worth the truck up the mountains! I have and will be recommending this place to anyone and everyone!

Salim’s Daughter - NamIsha’s first solo trip with a loving memory of her father who is in heaven.

I loved my experience above and beyond. Tennessee is a heaven and your cabin was a paradise to me. I am planning a next trip very soon with my friends and family looking forward to every weekend and stay here. Having no internet and coverage was an absolute pleasure to enjoy the soul journey with self.

Peaceful cabin in the woods

We mostly used it as a place to sleep while hiking all day, but it was great to come back to a clean, cozy, cabin. Loved having fires at night.

About the host

Hosted by Brittany Holifield

Host profile image
Our family of 4 spent the past 2 years building these cabins from the ground up. We spent the 4 years prior to this traveling the country in our RV. The desire to share our love of camping, the great outdoors, community, and adventure led us to create this adventure base camp.

Why they chose this property

We love that this area is dubbed "The Adventure Side of the Smokies".

What makes this property unique

We strive to create a unique experience for our guests with off-grid, solar-powered cabins and bathhouses. Our cabins are connected via boardwalks with community grill and a fire pit to promote conversation as the area has no phone service and no wi-fi.
