Beautiful Home, Fishing from Deck, Off-Roading & Horse Back Riding
We purchased the property back in 1999 with my father and brother. In 2001 we had finished our homes. Mine and my brothers homes are approximate approximately 4000 Sq Ft. with my fathers at around 2000 Sq Ft. located right on one of the Trout Ponds. (He fishes from his deck).
The Trout Creek Ranch is an incredible property with a stream (Trout Creek) running through the middle of the Valley thru two Trout Ponds. We have so enjoyed the property with nearby access to over 150 miles of trails through the National Forest. We are only 5 minutes from the town of Woodland Park and 25 minutes from Colorado Springs.
Keywords: The Ranch is located on 50 acres with Trout Creek running through the property and feeding two trout ponds. The ranch has beautiful views of Pikes Peak. There are many different species of wildlife living on and near the ranch, such as deer, elk, bear, fox, geese and ducks.
This Ranch has often been referred to as a little piece of heaven, a paradise and a romantic retreat. It is located 20 miles from Colorado Springs,18 miles from Cripple Creek , 83 miles from the the beautiful ski resort of Breckenridge and Denver is only an hour and a half away. There are wonderful hiking trails, fishing and over 150 miles of national forest trails through the nearby Pike National Forest (great atv and hiking trails).

Great property, very clean and new! Property was located in a perfect location minutes to Pikes Peak, 11 Mike Canyon, Cave of the winds, 7 Falls and much more. Would definitely stay here again.
Wendell and Lily are wonderful hosts. Comfortable, clean and lovely house. Enjoyed the occasional sighting of the marmot on property as well as the deers that walked around the pond and proceeded around the house. Thank you and would book again if in the area in the future.
There are no words to describe how incredible our stay was
I am unable to express in words how incredibly wonderful our stay was at Trout Creek Pound House was! The Howie’s are truly some of the most thoughtful and kind people I have ever met!! As a matter of fact, they feel more like family, if I’m being honest! They have created one of the most beautiful environments. We came because my husband ran the PPIHC race and let’s say it was quite an experience filled with no sleep and 3am trips to the mountain to run the mountain as soon as the sun was high enough for it to be safe to run. Being at the Howie’s was a calm oasis. When you are in an extreme situation, having your home space filled with so much beauty and calm, it made it possible to relax and recharge. It is impossible not to feel anything up complete serenity when looking out the window. There were up to 5 geese families, 4 bears, deer, beautiful birds, cute chipmunks, squirrels, and the cutes marmot. We were able to lean on the Howie’s for support and for that we are forever grateful!! It was hard to leave and I am more than excited for next year to see our friends the Howie’s who are such a gift, to stay at Trout Creek Pond House, and to run the PPIHC race. Thank you again for all that you did to make our experience magical ❤️
We wanted a comfortable place to stay while visiting family so we could all be together and this exceeded our expectations. The home is immaculate and the property is perfect. My son enjoyed fishing and caught quite a few, and we also enjoyed watching the geese and ducks and beaver that inhabit the property. The hosts were lovely and I hope we can plan another trip to visit! Thank you for a perfect family vacation!
Stayed for 3 nights while we did some fly fishing at 11 mile canyon and hiking. Location is great. They were very flexible with check in. Gave us a great recommendation and ate at Fusion our first night. Was excellent. Easy to go to town to grab what you need or go out to eat. Home was cozy and clean. Would stay there again.
Location and views were great! House was very well maintained and had all items we needed for our stay. Did not have much luck fishing which was disappointing (although there was a lot of rainfall). We enjoyed our stay - the Howie’s were very helpful and welcoming!
Beautiful, quiet property within driving distance of several area activities. Our kids aged 4-18 all had fun fishing, walking around and watching for wildlife. Lots to do within 30-45 minute drive.
Peaceful, beautiful views and beautiful home! Absolutely Amazing!
Our mother/daughter trip to this property was truly everything we hoped for & much more. The home was soo gorgeous! Very modern. We sat on the wrap around deck overlooking Pikes Peak as well as the ducks & geese swimming in the pond! The smell of Pine trees drifted through the air! Wendell & Mike are always a heartbeat away! They are quick to return your phone calls & answer any questions! What a treasured trip!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us!
We had the best experience at this location. This home was so comfortable and absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful Mountain scenery surrounded our lovely stay. I highly recommend!
Second time staying at this property and does not disappoint. Beautiful views from a wonderful home. Pikes Peak view from living room and master bedroom are fabulous. Check in with Mike was simple and quick. Home has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Would highly recommend for both quality of accomodations and beautyful scenery.
Not only are the Howies the most welcoming, helpful and friendly people on the planet, the property is so beautiful there are no words to describe it! Not only did we see deer every single day, its close to everything! Shopping, restaurants and all of the attractions! We needed a place for our family to meet and reconnect after years of separation. This property was very well kept and the house spotless; offering all of the comforts of home. Having the opportunity to cook together and hang out in a fabulous setting was priceless! We loved it so much we decided we will make this an annual trip!! You will not be disappointed with this beauty!
This rental is probably the best we have stayed at. Wendal was available for questions from the moment we booked the house. We got upgraded to the 5 bedroom house and it was perfect. The kids (ages 6 & 9) fished everyday and they both caught rainbow trout. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. We loved sitting on the deck and watching the Doe and 2 fawns every morning and the last day we had 2 good sized bucks in the driveway. The location was away from everything but close to town if need be. I would love to return on another trip to this area. Thank You for sharing your home with us!
Our family really enjoyed eating on the deck overlooking the pond and mountains. The grandkids loved fishing
(catch and release), chasing the geese and watching the "chimpmonkeys" as they called them. One morning we woke up to deer in the yard. The Howies were very accommodating, since our other rental had to deny renters because of circumstances beyond their control.
The house is more for older children and adults. Lots of breakables and light colored carpet. We just put up the breakables and kept shoes off by the door. We are so grateful that The Howies saved are vacation. It was wonderful. PS, I just remembered I forgot to turn on the dishwasher when I left. So sorry.
We had a quiet, peaceful, refreshing stay in a beautiful setting, in a fabulous home. We left re-charged and invigorated by our stay in this one of a kind retreat!
Gorgeous and relaxing! Beautiful home, peaceful property, coffee and fishing from the deck was awesome! Overall wonderful experience! Thank you Wendell!
Beautiful views and such a wonderful location. Kids loved the stocked trout pond and watching all the nature surrounding the home. Owners were great to work with. Lots of hiking trails nearby. We can’t wait to visit again!

We bought the Ranch after my retirement. It's our privilege to make the Ranch available for others to enjoy.
Why they chose this property
We love the Rocky Mountains and the Colorado Springs Region.
What makes this property unique
The Ranch has two beautiful Trout ponds with 'Trout Creek' running thru each. The Pikes Peak National Forest with over 150 miles of trails is less the 1/2 mile from the Ranch. We are only 5 minutes from the town of Woodland Park and 25 minutes from Colorado Springs.
