Bugs, trash, not as advertised

WORST HOST AND VRBO EXPERIENCE EVER! I am a loyal VRBO user (10 plus years) for businees and personal travel. This was by far the worst experience. I am still fighting VRBO to get reimbursement for my stay. VRBO needs to change their policies and NOT pay the host until after the stay is complete and any issues are resolved. These were the main issues: - There is NO parking in the front (city posted bomparkong signs and cones in the street). Gated complex with permit parking only. Garage was not made accesible and could not fit a truck. - Fruit flies and roaches in kitchen, master bath and master bedroom. Fruit flies were in the refrigerator and coming out of the drains. - Trash with food was found hanging on the master bedroom door. - After communicating issues with the host, there was no reply for two days. I had to leave the next morning because the fruit flies were in the bedroom, crawling on the walls and in the bed. I requested a refund and the host

Not quite ready

The gentleman I interacted with was pleasant. Overall, the place was modern and very beautiful. I suspect we were the first renters following a significant remodel. Areas not completed Livingroom TV not powered, 1 bedroom toilet without water, 1 restroom no paper. I am pretty sure these items will be addressed quickly enough that subsequent renters will not face them. Other lesser items no kitchen trash bag, coffee pods & sugar but no creamer. Should be called out in the rental post; office & garage on 1st floor & master on the 3rn floor, main living area on 2nd. All floors 10 or 12 feet tall so a lot of steps between floors. One of my guests was 74 so was a bit of a challenge. We were told to just park on street, but all streets says No Parking & vehicles will be towed. The manager just told me to ignore and park there. He assured me they do it all the time, having an out of state vehicle just seemed too risky. I was not comfortable with the risked not having a vehicle the next morning. The rental does have a garage, although a bit hard to get to. Overall, I do believe most items we faced will be quickly resolved. My wife wanted to add something about lighted plugs. The ones on the stairs are great but the master bedroom had too many. We prefer a dark room but with so many lighted plugs that was not an option. The price was posted at a first run pricing so that did make it a bit easier to accept. In closing I would consider renting in the future in the needs were to arise.
