About this property

Secluded estate tucked within the tropical flora and fauna.

Discover Casa Mima, a tropical retreat on the edge of a lush natural reserve. This serene getaway features 3 bedrooms, an open-concept living/dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a laundry area. Relax on covered and open terraces, and enjoy the soothing sounds of chirping birds and crickets while watching sloths climb trees and agouti (ñeque) roam the grounds. The property includes an undercover two-car garage and is within walking distance to a local market, spa, shops, restaurants, and other amenities. Experience nature and comfort in perfect harmony.
The space
Discover Quinta el Bosque and Casa Mima, two separate homes nestled on 3 hectares (7.4 acres) of lush land. Built with natural materials like wood and rock, these retreats blend seamlessly with nature. Casa Mima features a main bedroom upstairs and two additional bedrooms downstairs, all with large picture windows. Enjoy leisurely strolls along the stone pathways and visit the organic vegetable garden near the chicken coop. Though private, you’re just a 5-minute drive or 45-minute walk from the main road and local market.
Guest access
The 3 hectares (7.4 acres) are part of the property. You have access to grounds but Quinta el Bosque (the main home on the grounds) is off limits. There is ample space for all to enjoy!
Other things to note
This is a natural reserve. Although it is void of man made noise, nature is an orchestra of pleasing sounds.
Days may be warm to cool but most evenings are chilly especially when compared to city temperatures. You should plan on possible rain in winter months (rainy season: April thru November) and cool dry breeze in the summer months (December thru March).

About the host

Host profile image
My name is Elizabeth (Betsy) Ward. I am Panamanian American who lives in Panama. As an avid traveler I have come to appreciate what makes a vacation a truly unique memory. Our family homes in El Valle de Antón are a paradise of natural beauty which I would like to offer so others can enjoy as much as my family has over the years. Having 4 married children and 10 grandchildren, Casa Mima is equipped to house guests of all ages.

Why they chose this property

My family had vacationed in El Valle for many years spending most weekends there as a girl. In looking for a secluded, private, natural surrounding area to provide a similar experience to my own young children, I bought the 7.4 hectares almost 30 years ago. Ever since I designed and built the main house, we have enjoyed spending special moments there. Years later, as the family grew, I designed and built a smaller but equally independent and private retreat on the 7.4 acres, Casa Mima.

What makes this property unique

All of El Valle de Antón is known for its unique beauty. However, my property is a true sanctuary of peace that is only 3 minutes away from the Main Street where most stores, restaurants, and other amenities are located. It accommodates families or friends who decide to spend the time together enjoying the surrounding nature as memories are created.
