About this property

Sams Point Retreat-pet friendly, gorgeous water views!

We can't wait to host you in our lovely guest cottage. Relax on the tranquil 1000 square foot screened-in porch overlooking the mouth of beautiful Lucy Creek and the St Helena Sound. Enjoy breathtaking sunrise views, delightful birdsong, dolphin, loggerhead turtle and bird watching amongst the solitude of our quiet little country road. The cottage is located among huge live oaks at the front of our 5-acre property at the peaceful northern end of Lady's Island, and yet you are 10 minutes from the best groceries in the area and fifteen minutes from historic downtown Beaufort.
Enjoy stunning Hunting Island State Park with our complementary park pass, and you'll have a beach umbrella, beach chairs, and towels so you don't have to bring your own. We also provide bicycles, so ride around the neighborhood and over to neighboring Coosaw Island to explore dirt roads, marshes, and an archaic Indian triple shell circle-one of only three on the East Coast.
The open floor plan of the cottage is spacious and flooded with light, the kitchen is outfitted with everything you need to whip up marvelous meals. We also offer a gas grill, and are happy to set up a fire in our fire pit. The bedroom features a luxurious California king bed and luxury organic linens for a fantastic night's sleep. The twin trundle bed in the main living space is very comfortable and sleeps one. Our wifi is fast, our ac is cold, and we have a gas fire log in the fireplace for those chilly winter evenings. We have a washer and dryer and provide soaps, detergents, etc. We have internet TV, so bring your streaming information to enjoy your favorite shows.
There is a designated studio office space we are happy to provide an easel if you want to bring your painting and drawing supplies-be warned: creativity is awakened here!
We are pet friendly, but because we live in the back of the property and have a dog and two cats, we do require that dogs be acclimated to and friendly with other pets. Please note that this is not a fenced in property, and while our road is very quiet, we ask that guest dogs be on leashes when outdoors, and we always keep our dog on leash when we are hosting dogs owners. The pet deposit goes to extra cleaning protocol and is non-refundable. We have parking for a boat if you would like to bring one, and a double kayak if you would like to use one.
Come share our beautiful world!

Beautiful place. Outstanding hosts. Fantastic porch.

A beautiful morning following a long evacuation trip from hurricane Milton welcomed us to Beaufort. Susanne and Jim’s retreat was exactly what we needed. The home overlooks a lovely bay and is surrounded by several ancient live oaks complete with the requisite Spanish moss. Inside, the open space living area is replete with a chef’s stove and a massive refrigerator. Susanne is quite an artist and has displayed her creativity in several multimedia works. The one bedroom and bath is more than adequate for a couple. The WiFi is excellent. For me, the highlight of the home is the huge (1000 sq. Ft.) wraparound screened in porch with two huge, very comfortable couches and a dining table that overlooks the bay. I would gladly rent that porch. Susanne and Jim are both very personable and easy to talk with. He is constantly working around the 5 acre property and is quick to ask if we have needs. She is an artist, an avid “birder” and a pleasant conversationalist. We totally enjoyed our stay and hated to depart.

Quiet, Relaxing Vibe

This property was exactly what we needed. Quiet, off the beaten path, surrounded by beautiful Mother Nature with a gorgeous water view. My husband and I spent most of our time relaxing, reading and bird watching from the screened in front porch! We brought our puppy and had plenty of yard to walk her in. The owners live in the house on site and are extremely kind, thoughtful and welcoming humans. Our cell phones didn’t work, we streamed some football and had a nice, quiet weekend away together. Highly recommend! Thanks Susanna for sharing your piece of the world with us.

Why they chose this property

Our Northern end of Lady's Island feels like stepping back in time-recent development in the area has barely touched our little slice of paradise. Light pollution is minimal and on a clear night you feel like you can reach out and grab the stars. Moon rises over the cottage are absolutely incredible, challenged only the the comparable beauty of the sunrise. It is truly quiet out here, a retreat to renew and refresh yourselves, while still being close to the historic town of Beaufort.

What makes this property unique

Our cottage sits on 5 acres of beautifully landscaped trees, tropical plants, marsh, and even a little hammock island.
The house sits on the property in front, and guests have plenty of peace and privacy. The public landing is about a block down our quiet little street, and we have parking for a boat.
