The perfect hidden gem.

We pulled up to the property and could not believe the breathtaking views and cutest little cabin we have ever seen. The landscaping, the lights, the seating outside was quaint, romantic, and beautiful. The inside of the cottage is pristine. The owners left birthday card for my husband, a welcome sign on a chalkboard and an array of perfection. The little extras were off the chart. I highly recommend this location to anybody looking for a getaway.

Hidden gem!

This cabin was perfect! I can not think of any negatives about our stay here. The owners have put a lot of time and love into this place-- both inside and outside! They have thought through every detail to make their guests feel at home and to make sure they have what they need (full length light up mirror, comfy beds and pillows, extra blankets, stocked bathroom, charging cord, plethora of outlets, coffee and tea station, drinks and snacks, breakfast items, even a guitar!) The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to make several meals. If we would have been able to stay one more day, we would have enjoyed steak on the grill and sat around the fire pit and made s'mores (they include a store kit!). If we find ourselves back in the area, we will stay 2-3 days! it was that relaxing! Oh and to top it off, they gave us a tour of the property! We saw some incredible views and were lucky enough to see 16 deer. :)

What a Perfect Couple's Getaway!

My wife and I wanted to getaway and disconnect for a few days to celebrate our anniversary. This cozy cabin was absolutely PERFECT!! This place has everything you need inside from a stocked kitchen and refrigerator to beautifully landscaped lounging area outside complete with a variety of chairs to gather around the fire pit or just look up at the stars. Then to top it off, our hosts Marlene and Trent are unbelievable! They decorated with various surprises (notes, choc. strawberries, wine, flowers and even special gluten free food ... say what!) that really made us feel welcomed! Marlene checked on us a couple times and promptly answered any questions we had. This was a truly special little getaway! 5 Stars is not enough!

Anniversary Trip 2024

We had an absolutely unforgettable stay at this beautiful cabin in Richland, MO, to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the host went above and beyond to make our stay special—there were rose petals on the bed, a personalized message wishing us a happy anniversary, and thoughtful touches throughout the cabin that made us feel so welcome. The cabin is tucked away in the woods on a peaceful farm, offering the perfect escape. It’s newly renovated and in immaculate condition, fully furnished with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The outdoor fire pit and entertainment area, along with the spacious deck, were ideal for relaxing and enjoying the serene surroundings. The host was extremely responsive and helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed for a perfect getaway. We highly recommend this cabin and can't wait to return for future celebrations or just to unwind!

About the host

Hosted by Trent and Marlene Amen

Host profile image
We are Trent and Marlene, your hosts of the Arbor Cabin. We have spent two summers building, landscaping, and upgrading this Cabin, built in 2009. A few years ago, in California, we hosted a cottage in our backyard for almost 4 years and loved meeting people from all over the world! Then, in 2022, our family's farm in Missouri needed management. We decided to move here and transform this little cabin on the property into what you see today! We love hosting and are excited to offer our guests this beautiful cabin as well as access to the river for fishing, swimming, rafting, and kayaking.

Why they chose this property

For 45 years, my family has had this farm property of over 500 acres. This property is on a quiet country road and only 3 miles from Route 66 and I-44, between St. Louis and Springfield. We enjoy the easy access to the Interstate and living in the country with its quiet beauty.

What makes this property unique

The property has an array of features that include rocky cliffs, historical cemetery, 1928 Grain Silo, forests, waterfall, fields, an abandoned trucks and antique farm equipment.
