About this property

Historic Eve House

Welcome to the Historic Eve House, a charming retreat built in 1798 by William Eve, nestled in the heart of Madison, Virginia. This fully renovated historic home offers a unique blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. Designed for relaxation, the Eve offers well-appointed areas to unwind, including private bedrooms and a cozy library. The spacious living room, dining room, kitchen, and private back patio were thoughtfully designed with socializing and entertainment in mind.

This welcoming property offers a cozy retreat for guests. Enjoy the convenience of smart TVs, WiFi, laundry, and a full kitchen with everything you need to make grand meals. Enjoy the outdoor space on the porch rockers or take in the surrounding gardens while you barbecue and lounge on the expansive back patio. Play games, solve puzzles, and read books from the well-stocked entertainment closet. We're happy to assist with any questions while you stay at the house.

The Eve's Main Street location grants easy access to nearby Shenandoah National Park, including Old Rag Mountain (23 minutes) and White Oak Canyon (22 minutes) trailheads. Cast your line into any number of nearby trout streams.

This area is an antiquer's dream! Virginia antiquing maps are provided for our guests. And if you enjoy history, the Eve is about 30 minutes from several US presidential homes and retreats, including James Madison's Montpelier, Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, and Herbert Hoover's Rapidan Camp.

Enjoy local wineries and breweries, including Bald Top Brewing Co. (1.5 miles away), Early Mountain Winery (4 miles), Blue Quartz Winery & Shotwell Run Brewery (8 miles), and more!

Walk two doors down the street to Cake Krums Bakery for coffee and breakfast. Walk in the opposite direction and grab lunch or dinner at Jenny Lynd's Pizza or Mad Pepper on Main St. You'll find sandwiches and wine at Piedmont Deli (1 mile) and local barbecue at Pig-N-Steak. Further afield, find authentic German fair at the Bavarian Chef (5 miles), comfort food and ice cream at The Freeze (3 miles), and Italian food at Giovanna's (3 miles). If you prefer to cook your own meals in the Eve's full equipped kitchen, nearby Food Lion (1.5 miles) and Yoder's Country Market (2 miles) have everything you need.

Early Mountain Vineyards also boasts a full menu and Bald Top Brewing's wood-fired pizza is delicious.

Beautiful Historical Home

First, let me start by saying, that the owners of this home, Lorrie & Jonathan are the most delightful people you would ever want to meet! They answered all of my questions beforehand and had great communication throughout our stay. The house surpassed our expectations. Even though it is a historic home, it has been renovated tastefully with nice furniture and modern conveniences while keeping the historic charm. It is spacious, comfortable, and much bigger than it appears in the photos. The bedrooms are quite nice and roomy with comfy beds and nice linens. The bathrooms were modernized with walk-in tiled showers and there is one on each level. Plenty of fluffy towels and well-stocked with toiletries. The house has excellent water pressure, and the extra half bath on the main level came in handy. The kitchen was bright and well-stocked with everything you need. The outside has great walkways, with lots of flowers, and a big porch. The parking area is huge and accommodated our 5 cars with no problem at all. We stayed for 2 nights in September to attend a wedding at Renback Barn, which is 7 mins away. The neighborhood is quaint, and there is a great bakery a few houses down which is worth the visit. We had 8 people in the party the first night, and 10 the second night and we had plenty of room to move around. We truly had a very pleasant, relaxing stay and if I ever get to Madison again, I will rebook this house. It was a true pleasure!
