Maine Adventure

Was impressed with the amount of room we had. Had a group of 8 so the large tv room and kitchen worked well. Hanging out on screened porch was nice. Couch on porch looks like it's seen better days! Plenty of outside chairs to use.

Mold in window ACs

The overall home itself was fine. As described. My grandmother had to reclean the whole kitchen before cooking, we all had to clean every dish we used before cooking. The window ACs in the bedrooms had mold and clearly have not been cleaned for several seasons. Woke up the first morning very stuffy with headaches to find the ACs FULL of mold. It has been 2 days and I have not heard back from the owner OR evolve (the management company) after reaching out. There are also no gas detectors in the home, Maine requires all rentals have gas detectors properly installed near all gas appliances. This home could use a thorough inspection to address these concerns.

Awesome house!

There was a group of 10 of us that stayed. We had plenty of room. The view of the foliage was amazing and the house was close to town. We couldn't have asked for a better place to all hang out for the long weekend.

Beautiful house/ great location.

The house is in a great location. About 15 minutes from the golf course, and 3 minutes from downtown bethel, it was great. The house itself was nice and spacious with plenty of beds and room. There was everything we needed besides a grill and the house was well supplied with towels, bed sheets and such. The owner ken kept in touch and reached out to us apologizing due to work being done at the house when we arrived and was easy to work with. The house is definitely big enough to fit 12 people comfortably but pay special attention to the bottom part of the description because it states you can be charged 250 for any noise complaints from neighbors. There is a family that lives on the other side of the house and all that separates there unit is a door down the end of the hallway. Me and the 2 other people I rented with felt like we were walking on eggshells to ensure we didn’t get a noise complaint and get charged an extra 250.00. I can only imagine if you had 12 people talking in the room that it could get loud enough to possibly incur one of these fines. The hot tub cannot be used after 10:00 pm because that is quiet hours so if you plan on staying up late and using it look elsewhere. On the property were numerous signs stating you would be fined for certain things such as the hot tub tripping the breaker or if the property care taker has to come out there. The property was great but it is something to be aware about because my group and I were always worried about incurring fines due to the close proximity to neighbors instead of just relaxing and enjoying ourselves.

Bethel stay

Definitely a ski town and property meant for winter use. Thought we would have a view of the river and access. Not so. Next door neighbor was very nice. Year round tenant was smoking pot on their side of the house making our side reek of marijuana. It is legal in Maine, however, not something we were wanting our 4 yr old to be exposed to. Nice house but won't be returning.

Great place to bring all the family together!

The place was just as beautiful as it looks in the pictures. Both the owner and primary contact of the property was easy to work with. Plenty of yard space for outdoor activities and the backyard view is amazing. My family would definitely go again.

Large, clean, and well worth the money.

Incredibly large house with plenty of room. Great views and quiet neighborhood. House was very clean and well stocked with linens, etc., and the owner was very easy to work with. Have already recommended it to some friends for their family trip.

About the host

Hosted by Ken

Host profile image
My name is Ken and I have owned this house since 2018. I love to help families and friends get together in this huge home because it is absolutely perfect for those groups! I love that I can continue to add amenities (that I get to use too!) while keeping this property affordable and charming.

I manage this property myself with a small team of locals that are the best around. Dana manages the mowing, trash removal, and most importantly, the hot tub that gets checked after each visitor. Shelley and her team have cleaned the home for several years and do an excellent job.

Why they chose this property

Bethel is a hidden gem (it is also known for its gems!). I love the area the most for the skiing, hiking, and river floats on a hot summer day. Bethel is ideally located between two ski mountains that offer year-round adventures and endless hikes. Bethel also has a large gentle river that wraps around the town that makes it perfect for floating, canoeing, kayaking or swimming. The town is less touristy in the summer, allowing for quick trips to town where there are still plenty of stores and restaurants to enjoy.

What makes this property unique

The size and river access are the most unique things about this property but I also truly believe it offers a ton of extra amenities without the normally associated cost. The garage can fit 3 cars or become a rainy day game room. The backyard is huge and includes a wooded trail along a stream, as well as a grass path down to the Androscoggin River, where at lower river levels, a sandy beach appears. A portable firepit and 10 lawn chairs provide for those magic evenings.
