About the host
Hosted by Katie

Hi! We’re Kate and Rich, a couple who share a deep love for the Isle of Wight. Rich grew up on the island, where his family still lives, and our cosy cottage in Cowes holds a special place in our hearts. We decided to start hosting so others could enjoy this lovely home and experience all that the island has to offer.
We’ve spent countless days staying at the cottage, enjoying the charm of Cowes and exploring the island. Our mornings often start with a refreshing sea swim, followed by breakfast and coffee at one of our favourite cafes, The Garden. We love strolling along the seafront, enjoying picnics at Queens Road Park, playing tennis at Northwood House (which is free!), and discovering new restaurants and shops. One of our most memorable adventures was walking the entire 70 miles around the island, starting and ending in Cowes. Whether by bus or car, we’ve explored every corner of this magical place and want to share it with you.
Why don’t we live full-time at the cottage? Well, we’d love to, but with Kate running a small seasonal wedding business in Southampton and Rich working away at sea, we can’t spend as much time here as we’d like. Luckily, this means we want others to enjoy it! We are thrilled to offer Captain's Cottage to guests, and we hope you’ll create wonderful memories here, just as we have.

Why they chose this property
Cowes, on the Isle of Wight, is a charming coastal town known for its vibrant maritime atmosphere and rich history. It's famous for being a hub of sailing, especially during the renowned Cowes Week regatta. The town is filled with quaint shops, cosy cafes, and stunning sea views, making it perfect for leisurely strolls along the seafront. With its friendly community, beautiful parks, and easy access to the rest of the island, Cowes offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure—an area we truly love and believe you will too.
What makes this property unique
Captain's Cottage is a true haven of relaxation, offering the perfect space to unwind after a day of exploring Cowes and the island. It’s more spacious than most one-bed holiday lets in the area, making it ideal for both short and long stays. You’ll love the beautiful garden with comfy outdoor furniture, and inside, the very comfortable king-sized bed, a bath for soaking, a shower, and a cosy fireplace for winter evenings. With board games, books, smart TV, and a fully equipped kitchen, everything is set up for a peaceful retreat. Don't fancy cooking? You're just a two-minute walk from some of Cowes’ best restaurants.
