Sayles was ok, not a great value.
The house is old and semi-updated. I weigh 165 lbs and nearly fell through the sofa as it seems broken. Doors don’t close well, and one bathroom is super small, but again, it’s an old house that you may enjoy the charm. I just didn’t think it was a great value and would stay at a hotel or another VRBO next time.
This lovely property was everything it was advertised to be - spacious, quiet, and comfortable. There were 10 in our group and we had plenty of space for our 2 night stay.
Absolutely precious house… What a great little town… Thank you so much for the wonderful stay

Family Christmas
My 8 cousins and I stayed at the Sayles Cottage in Abilene the 1st weekend of December. We had our annual Christmas get together and it was perfect! We even had snow and it was beautiful! Thanks Niki we had a great time!

Great base for our needs
It became a running joke amongst our group that everything we needed to go to was 6 minutes away! The house was perfectly placed for our needs. The four bedrooms were a perfect combination for two families. In general the area was extremely quiet, except for the night trains, which some of us were woken by regularly. I’m not sure how easy they are to escape if you want to stay in Abilene though. The master bedroom was also a little too bright through the night thanks to a street lamp outside which none of us could see the reason for. The house was cozy, clean and reasonably well equipped.

We had a fun weekend.
We are native to Abilene and this has been a great place to stay for our family. Our son's wedding at South 2nd and Butternut made this an ideal location for the 8 of us.
A few things need to be improved maybe before the next guests stay.
*The door in the kitchen could not be unlocked to the backyard.
*The light in the refrigerator doesn't work.
*There was also open containers of food in the refrigerator when we arrived.
*Some of the chairs at the dining room table are loose and coming apart as well as the placemats. My grandson almost put one of the beads in his mouth from the placemats.
*Chandelier in the dining room needs cleaning although our grandchildren enjoyed watching the trapped bugs in it.
*The drain in the bathtub does not seal well. For grandchildren's baths their mother had to use a towel to keep water in the tub.
*The master bedroom ceiling fan lights don't turn on properly.
*Damp sheets were found in the master closet.
*There was only one hand towel in the whole house.
*The television never worked in the master bedroom.
*The bedroom next to the master had a very hard and squeaky bed. My daughter-in-love said, "If you don't mind sleeping on the hard squeaky ground it's okay."
With all this said we would recommend this home to friends if the hard and squeaky bed was changed. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home.

Everything was clean and convenient.
We had quite a group (5 adults, 3 kids, 1 tiny dog) and everything went smoothly! Worked far better for us than a hotel would have.

Graduation Weekend
What a fantastic house to gather for our daughter’s graduation from ACU. Everything was perfect. So much better than staying in a hotel.

Had a great stay, house was clean, well kept and maintained.
Overall the property was great! Kitchen was well stocked. We comfortably entertained 15 guests during our stay. The only negative was there were no wash clothes and there were blow up matresses (which was fantastic in itself) but there were no linens. Plenty of blankets so it worked. Given that I still rate this place 5 stars!

Great Place to Stay
The house is in an excellent location, clean and well kept. Our large group had plenty of room to spread out and relax. We did have a small problem when arrived but the owner was quick to respond. We will be back for another stay next year.

Amazing Stay
Family came in for our daughter's wedding from California, Illinois and Wisconsin. We thought it would be better to stay altogether than in separate hotels and it worked out wonderfully. Niki was great with all the questions asked and being able to see the property before hand. It was like we were at home.

Cute little place was perfect for our stay.
A great place for the reunion of 4 sisters, 1 spouse and 1 adult child. Plenty of comfortable beds and only 2 sisters had to share a room...a large room. We all had enough space for down time. The house is adorable...a little quirky. Location was fantastic. 15 minutes to the airport, less to town, restaurants, and grocery stores. It was clean and comfortable. If I were ever to return to Abilene, I would stay here again.

Lovely Cottage in a Quiet Neighborhood
This cottage home was clean, comfortable and attractively decorated. It is located in the heart of Abilene, and convenient to local attractions and activities. The location is in the lovely Historic Sayles Boulevard area. We actually live just a couple of blocks away. We rented the Sayles Cottage as overflow lodging for the Sayles Landmark, where our extended family was staying when they were in Abilene to attend our daughter's wedding. It is located just a few doors up the street from the Sayles Landmark. It would be an excellent choice for families visiting Abilene to attend any of the many sport, rodeo, cultural, university, air force or other events throughout the year. It would also be great for family reunions or other occasions that bring families together. This is a nice, well-cared-for property in a good location.

Very nice.
There were 6 adults and 4 children and we were very comfortable. Cooked 2 meals and had all the necessities for preparation. Very clean and pet friendly. The only suggestions would be to supply ample supply of washcloths and repair tissue holder in bathroom.

Quaint
We had a wonderful time. The house was the perfect venue for a gathering place for our little family reunion.
It is quaint and clean. The cow painting in the dining room was quite a conversation piece.
I would recommend this location and will stay here again if we find ourselves back in Abilene.

Beautiful home!
We had a wonderful stay at the Cottage on Sayles. It was beautifully decorated, very clean, and in a fun area of town. We rented it out for a wedding and spent the morning getting ready with the bride at the house. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us and for your hospitality Nikki!

About the host
Hosted by Owner/Manager
Jon and I love to travel and spend time at the lake, a beach, or at our families summer cabin! Jon is originally from Round Rock, Texas and I am from Sacramento, California, we now live in Abilene with our 2 sweet kids and 2 kitties. We work together buying, renovating, selling and renting properties, mostly around Abilene and would consider it our dream job! We hope to add more locations to our vacation rental portfolio at some point!
Why they chose this property
All the charm of the Sayles area shows in the house. I love to share it with people traveling through Abilene so they can see the best of what we have to offer.
