About this property

Peaceful rustic cabin in the country with Views, Hot Tub, and Fireplace.

This is a little peaceful cabin/house on the Pedernales River arm of Lake Travis out in the country. Update summer 2024, while the views and peace are as great as ever, the Pedernales River is more of a creek than a river. Definitely has water in it, but is not accessible. We are across the river from the Blissful Hill wedding venue and down the street from the Cypress Valley Event Center.

Our home sits up on a bluff overlooking the Pedernales river with river and canyon views. The river is low right now, but there is still water to gaze out on, along with lots of sky, birds, canyons, and an expansive feeling of nature.

There is complete privacy on one side of the home where our two year old hot tub (serviced weekly) is located. There are two bedrooms. One bedroom has a king bed and the other has two doubles. There is one full bath and a second half bath. . There is a flat screen TV in the living and each of the bedrooms.

If you start craving action, we are centrally located between Austin and Marble Falls and only 15 minutes to the Lakeway Hill Country Galleria's restaurants, shops and theaters. Or maybe just open a bottle of wine and hang out on the deck on the porch swing. Or take off down to Krause Spring's famous spring-fed swimming hole and butterfly garden a couple minutes a way. Or try some new wines from Stone House Winery, also just a few minutes away. And of course Opies Barbeque and Poodie's Roadhouse, and Angels are famous in Spicewood.

Perfectly Relaxing

This was a lovely home along the Pedernales River near many wineries, but not on one. The back porch was the perfect spot to watch the river and many bird species. The home was perfectly appointed with multiple sitting areas outside, a porch swing, a hot tub, fire pit, grill, comfy couches, and any kitchen implement one might need. We used it as a base for hiking the numerous state parks in the area. It could not have been better.

West Tx. Ladies enjoy Hill Country Retreat!

Two grandmothers, a daughter and granddaughter spent a quiet, peaceful, and restful Thanksgiving at this property. Ages 81, 76, 56, and 24. The deck was wonderful for relaxing with refreshments and watching the Eagles fly by. The property was exactly as describe and came furnished with all we needed. Watched movies on big screen TV and played board games on large dining table. Looking forward to a return trip for another restful few days.

So Peaceful, with Amazing Views

We really loved our stay. Waking up in the morning and enjoying our coffee on the deck overlooking the river was perfect. Our host was thoughtful and communicative. The home has everything you need for a short or long stay. The hot tub and fireplace were like icing on the cake!

Very nice cabin stocked with everything you need. Beautiful back porch overlooking the Pedernales and a large living/dining/kitchen area perfect for gathering. Easy check in and out and responsive owners. Would definitely recommend!

Nice cabin

The cabin has great views even though sadly the river is almost dry. The a/c works well and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked except for spices that are old. I would recommend for an enjoyable vacation retreat.

Beautiful and Relaxing Getaway

We came to town for a family wedding at nearby Cypress Valley, and this property checked all the boxes. Location was perfect, the setting is picturesque, and the home is very cozy and "easy to use". The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are comfortable, with televisions and WiFi to keep you connected. But best of all is the back deck - great view with plenty of seating (porch swing!) and very private. Bird watching with coffee in the morning was pretty cool (yeah, I'm a dork), as was staying up late chatting with family while looking out over the river. I would 100% re-book this property - the owners were super easy to work with and there were absolutely no hassles. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

Good hub for Hill Country day trips

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. We LOVED the skylights in the kitchen and bathroom, and adored the floor to ceiling windows in the main living and dining area. The floor plan is great, and so is the big kitchen island and large dining table. Every seat on the living room couch and loveseat reclines (which is nice!). The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils, multiple sized pots and pans, appliances like a blender, 4-slice toaster, and coffee maker, and there’s a butcher’s block with all sorts of knives. Beds were mid, but comfortable. Wi-Fi was hit and miss, but that’s expected in rural areas. We saw lots of deer and hawks. We ran out of TP, but Vicki responded to my text of where to find backup. Appears in real life as in pictures. Good water pressure, but the shower head is low for us taller folks. Bring your own soap and shampoo.

Wonderful lakeside place!

House was spacious, very nice, very clean, nice furniture. Kitchen utensils and other items well-stocked. Porch deck with furniture was excellent. View of lake was very nice, even though it is currently low. Good bird watching, if you like that. Access to a number of parks for exploring local wildlife and wildflowers: Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge, Pedernales Falls State Park, Milton Reimer Ranch Park. These are all very good if you are new to this part of Texas. Communication with host was good. If we make it back to Texas hill country, this is definitely a place we would stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at the rustic cabin house and locations and accessibility to grocery store and Krause springs were closer- we also liked the angels icehouse restaurant nearby. Would highly recommend for a family

My family and I had a great stay. The view is awesome and enjoyed spending time outside.. It was very convenient to an event that we had in Spicewood. The kitchen had everything we needed. Would stay again.

We didn't stay - we left

This property is not well kept. Driving up we see wood piles and what looks like a porta-potty. We go in and it seems it has not been lived in for a while. The porch overlooking the river was dusty, cob-webs all around. Then we were locked out and couldn't go back in. As we were walking around the house to get back to our car, we heard the neighbors say "yeah, you're locked out" as if they knew and has something to do with it. We felt very uneasy and unsafe so we decided to leave and stay at a hotel instead. I've stayed in many VRBO properties and this place did not meet our expectations. The owner apologized and said she will refund us the money we paid. I am still waiting for this.

Cozy cabin on the river

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.. very comfortable.. had everything we needed and more! The hot tub was amazing and HOT! The view was spectacular .. the water is not reachable anymore bc the lake is so low for years..very enjoyable and private.. nice and quiet.. perfect for our anniversary.. felt like we were in a treehouse on the patio.. listening to the birds.. Enjoy it!

Why they chose this property

We like the peaceful, country laid-back feel out here, the many moods of the weather (usually very breezy) sitting on the deck overlooking the River below and the decidedly Not City life out here. One of the best springfed swimming holes, Krause Springs is just minutes away or enjoy an afternoon picnic at The Stone House Winery just down the country road. Opie's BarBQ is an easy drive towards Spicewood.

What makes this property unique

This is a good home base between Lakeway and Marble Falls or a day trip to Fredericksburg or Johnson City or to Austin to visit 6th Street The Live Music Capital of the World or the University of Texas Campus or the LadyBird Wildflower Center.
