As the largest and only developed island of Florida’s famed Ten Thousand Islands, Marco Island offers a unique immersion into this unspoiled natural area with access to the Gulf of Mexico and island estuaries. Part coastal resort, part fishing village, Marco Island is a family-friendly destination where visitors can relax and unwind in nature. Comb the beach for shells or join an oceanside yoga session, kayak the coastal waters, take an eco-tour by boat, fish, and watch spectacular sunsets. Dine on fresh seafood, visit local art galleries and museums, and shop the unique stores of the island. Marco Island, the largest of Florida’s Ten Thousand Islands, is tucked away in the Gulf of Mexico. It is a small, comfortable Island, 6 miles by 4 miles, linked to the mainland by two bridges. In 2014, TripAdvisor voted Marco Island the number one island in the U.S. and ranked it the fourth best island in the world. The largest on-line travel site went on to describe Marco Island as “the perfect destination for those who crave a peaceful retreat.”
