!!! Now doing "Day Stays"! We call it a "Whistle Stop". Would you like to book the day at the caboose to rest, relax, refresh, eat, work, shower, nap? You can book the caboose from 10-4 on available Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesdays. Just like an overnight stay, you have use of the caboose and it's grounds. *We still have a max occupancy of 4 people, no smoking parties or animals. Rate $ 110 Please message here if interested. This was once a real, working Southern Railways caboose and now sets on a track section between active Norfolk Southern railroad tracks and hwy 117.
The caboose was lovingly renovated by Claudia and her husband Robert over the past 2 years. It's decorated in a " midcentury, industrial" style that reflects the era that it was in service while maintaining some of the original features of a working caboose. It has 2 areas for sleeping, a bedroom with privacy and a sleep sofa in the common area.

The kitchenette has such amenities as a coffee bar, microwave, toaster oven/air fryer, dishwasher, compact fridge and small freezer. Table for 4 with adequate room to eat or play board games.
The couch is also a full size sleeper. There is a 32 inch smart TV in the livingroom for your entertainment. The " master bedroom" consists of a queen size mattress and bed with luxury linens.
Open the " original" caboose bathroom door for a " first class" experience. Unique tiled shower, toilet and sink.

The outdoor space consists of a deck, park- style grill, firepit and bluetooth speaker. Watch the train and wave to the conductor from the back of the property!

The property itself backs up to a norfolk Southern railroad with a variety of traincars sure to satisfy any railfan.

The caboose is located less than 5 miles down the mountain from Mentone, Alabama and all the natural attractions in the area- Desoto Falls, Desoto State Park, LIttle River Canyon, Cloudland State Park, Brow park and many trails for walking or biking.
*You are about 175 ft from the railroad tracks and you will hear the train whistle blow of the train as it passes by. Times the train passes by are unpredictable. (This is not a main line so traffic is light on the rails)
You will be experiencing what the train conductor experienced on a working caboose only in a more luxury interior.
