Wonderful Place

Great unit. Stayed with our family of 4 (2.5 year old and 6 month old). Room was fantastic with a great deck. The pools and resort were fantastic. Owner was super easy to contact and ask questions. Would stay here again.

Xmas trip 2024

Beautiful resort and condo - would recommend. Small issues when we arrived (room not cleaned yet - miscommunication with staff) and dealt with immediately. Condo showing bit of wear and tear as we expect from rentals- new couch would be great. More beach toys than expected (we only used boogie boards, mat, and chairs). Great location for getting around. 35 min walk down the beautiful boardwalk to get to Whaler's village. BBQs worked great. Between Xmas and new years tough to get loungers by pools as busiest week of year but first week had no issues.

Beautiful Ohana Time

Out family had the best time staying at this property and unit. On top of being nice and quiet on the top floor, the owner has water toys for guests to enjoy. Our kids especially had fun with the boogie boards. We will be back!

Perfect Unit for Family of 4

This unit was perfect for our family! Evan was extremely communicative in making sure we had everything we needed leading up to our stay. We happened to be there during my daughter's 9th birthday and Evan was very helpful in showing me how to book a cabana at the pool for the day. She absolutely loved it! The unit was the perfect size for our family of 4, with two younger children. My girls especially loved the accordion doors that opened up to the balcony with beautiful views of the mountains from the top floor. Highly recommend this unit. We will absolutely be back again!

Great Stay in Maui

The suite is well equipped with a cooler on wheels, air mattress, beach chairs, mats and snorkel gear. Some kitchen essentials would be nice, such as salt, pepper, olive oil and sugar. We did not have any issues during our stay. Thank you for having us!

Family Getaway

This is our second time staying at Honua Kai, first time in this tower and particular condo. The check-in time is not flexible so just be aware of that when booking flights. We were able to access the pool which was nice but definitely had some tired kiddos looking forward to lounging a bit. The unit has a beautiful view of the mountains and we saw a rainbow just as pictured in the listing! The unit was well equipped with beach toys for our adventures. A few things to note: We had to reach out to the owner because the thermostat is not easy to figure out and got very cold, it was 65 degrees - it was hot or cold. They sent someone to fix it and then it would only set to 70 which was still colder than we would have liked but better than 80 so we dealt with it. The dryer never dries clothes no matter how many cycles you do, I had to let the clothes dry on the bed after doing a dry cycle even at the highest heat. The nonstick pans could be replaced, they’re terribly scratched and we chose not to use them. Everything was great about this location, the communication was appreciated. Definitely recommend staying at Honua Kai, wherever it is you will enjoy it!

Just okay

Good location. Clean unit. However, compared to others that had other similar units this was not as well stocked. No basic condiments (salt, pepper, sugar), all the three teflon pans were scratched beyond safe usage, the beach chairs broken. The sofa bed is not comfortable as it was all springy.

Best Maui vacation spot, pool & beach!

We had the best time at Honua Kai Resort & Spa and so happy we booked through VRBO! Our host Evan was super communicative and made our stay one to remember. We loved having the pool options with the beach just behind it. Food at Dukes, although a little pricey, was delicious and lots of nearby options to walk to. Grocery store across the street was perfect for some room essentials and the pizza spot there hit the spot one night! Would absolutely stay again!

Great Stay!

We had a wonderful stay in this unit at Honua Kai! The unit is very spacious, well stocked and in great shape, and the views of the west Maui mountains are spectacular. As promised (and to the children’s delight), we saw a number of very vibrant rainbows from the lanai. Also, there were plenty of beach toys (including high quality boogie boards) available in the unit, though the beach (at least the part directly in front of the resort) gets rocky as you enter the water, which while great for snorkelling, can be a bit rough on the feet when boogie boarding. The pools at Honua Kai are awesome, and the slide there is perfect for children on the younger side. Our kids also loved the various cats on the property. Would definitely stay again.

Just Perfect!

Wow! What an amazing place! We stayed here as a family of 5. Our 3 kids are 6-10 and we couldn't have asked for a better place. The condo was amazing and the views from the balcony of the West Maui Mountains were incredible. Having our own kitchen and washer and dryer was great since we stayed for 10 days. We came home with no laundry to do! The resort is also great for kids. Honou Kai has an infinity pool overlooking the beach, another pool with a waterfall and waterslide and a lazy river. My kids were in heaven and said it was the best trip they have every been on. The beach is beautiful as you can look out and see two other islands. There is some rock and coral around so just watch where you are stepping in the water. Evan, the property manager, was also very helpful. Nothing came up during our trip, but leading up to the trip he had great communication. We will definitely look to go back and stay here again!

Kaanapali gem

This is a beautiful property. The Mountain View was lovely, and saw a beautiful rainbow from the room!! There is a little road noise on this side of the property, but was very quiet when the doors were closed. The listing is exactly as photographed, and overall was a wonderful place to stay. A full service grocery store is walkable. Would definitely stay here again!!

Worth it!

The room is spacious and as listed. I would have like to see it a little cleaner like the dust around the floor, the sheer curtains are stained and torn, and inside the kitchen cabinets could be wiped down a little more.

Spacious Condo with Mountain View

As always the Honua Kai is a very nice place to stay with a small gourmet market, a convenience store, and restaurant with live music all on property. It is a very family-friendly resort with lots of pool area, and a beach right in front. This unit is a little larger in square footage which makes it nice to hang out in when just relaxing; the balcony is extra wide too for a one bedroom.If you like spacious, this is the unit for you. It was nice to watch the morning sun come over the mountain.

Honua Kai

We’ve stayed at a few different rooms in Honua Kai and this one was as advertised. Great view of the crater off the lanai, nice appliances and kitchen, very clean, lots of beach stuff (chairs, snorkel, flippers, coolers), and beautiful resort. My only suggestion would be better blankets for the king and pull out. We only had a few thin sheets so there was no duvet or comforter. Still an amazing space and resort and would highly recommend to any family with any age of kids.

Perfect for our family!

Condo was beautiful and perfect for our family. Curtis was helpful throughout process. We used Maui on the fly for a crib and high chair, as suggested from Curtis, and it was there when we checked in! The sofa bed was perfect for our three year old. King bed was comfy too! View was so nice and we saw multiple rainbows. Some areas of the condo needed some tlc but nothing that interfered with our trip. One suggestion is to add a broom or a working vacuum to the condo. We ended up buying a swiffer on day two to help sweep. We would definitely stay again! The beach was perfect for swimming and snorkeling and the condo had beach gear! The pools were great and fun! They even let me hold our 11 month old to do the water slide with her. Dukes was great and we booked a few nights there ahead of our trip to make sure we could get reservations. Parking and valet was easy! Such a great trip with beautiful memories! Thank you :)

Wonderful Unit - Superb Service

Overall the stay at this unit was wonderful. The condo was clean, well stocked, and maintained. The beds and chairs were comfortable and the internet was fast. We have stayed in several Honua Kai units (both private and property owned) and this condo is one of the best. The mountain view was also stunning. It rained often while we were there and the cloudy, rainbow covered West Maui Mountains were beautiful. However, what was outstanding about our stay is the service that was provided by the host. Unfortunately our stay here was interrupted by the remnants of Tropical Storm Calvin that went over the big island. We were hit with some strong winds and some heavy rain overnight. As a result, a resort roof storm drain cracked and began leaking water into the unit since it is the top floor. We were asked to vacate while Honua Kai maintenance fixed the pipes above the ceiling of the unit. The host was gracious in that he was helpful and responsive throughout the ordeal. Once we were given the order to vacate the unit to conduct repairs, the host promptly found us another unit in Honua Kai. We were able to check in the same day without hassle beyond having to pack up and move. I can't say enough how grateful I am for the host. Our family of four including two young children were taken care of. The unit we were offered for the remainder of our stay was also wonderful and mad the remaining days at Honua Kai a great experience.

Great Condo in Lahaina

My husband and friends and I enjoyed our stay in Evan's condo at the Honua Kai resort. Small snag with the AC but easily fixed and Evan was very responsive so were back with the cool comfort very quickly. The resort itself is gorgeous. Duke's onsite is a PLUS, and the parking was easy peasy. A lot of our events were on the Wailea/Kihei side of town so a bit of a commute, but do not miss Leoda's and the cute Front St. area nearby.

Great stay in Honua Kai

My family and I have been coming to Maui for over 15 years and have stayed in many places. This was a great location and the unit was very nice. There was extra blowup bed for our other teenager along with plenty of beach toys and essentials. The owners were easy to communicate with and sent many useful emails. I would highly recommend thos unit and stay here again!

Nice resort but less than desirable room

We’ve stayed at Honua Kai a few times in the past couple years and we’ve enjoyed the garden and ocean front rooms. Very peaceful and enjoyable. However this room had a lot of road noise and the view was less than desirable. Not the peaceful Hawaii feel we enjoy. Nice room but view was nothing special. Also the trash and towel pick up at the resort was lacking this time. Lots of left over trash in bushes and piles of towels for a couple days at a time. Pools are amazing and great for families with kids. Beach is ok (lots of coral and rock in the shallow water areas). We probably won’t stay here again. Clean room. Appreciated all the beach stuff in the closet. Easy check in. Resort beautiful with the exception of the trash. Pools great.
