Overall a great place to stay and the owner was totally professional and very well versed, she made our stay a great one that I will always remember as a fun time and a place of total serenity and peace...
I went for my daughter's graduation but i will definitely will be returning to enjoy the trails and go hiking love nature and the way they take care of nature and the planet
This was a very lovely property. There were a few little cabins and tents spread out on the grassy area in the woods. It was very quiet, and we still felt like we had our own privacy. The composting toilet and shower house was very well maintained, we didn’t feel uncomfortable using any of it. Ershay was a great host, gave us the lay of the land when we arrived so we knew where everything was and how to use it. Our cabin was cozy, had more ammenties than we expected (a fan, French press, towels, plus the listed microwave fridge and three beds). Would go back again!
Pros: Overall, this is a cute place. The owner is pleasant and quick to reply. It was as pictured, grounds very well maintained; good location. Owner communication with directions was good. Clean. Very quiet. Excellent access to trails. You are within sight of other campers but they are set far enough apart that it feels very private.
Cons: You have to arrive at a scheduled time to check in between 5-8. Cost was high with nightly fee, extra person fee (site advertised for 4 but we were charged 20$ extra for each person over 2), cleaning fee, VRBO fee and taxes. One night in a camp for 3 people $173. Also, owner requires high damage deposit or insurance and it's not returned until 2+ weeks even without damages.
I spoke with VRBO and the owner about the high price, owner feels it is in keeping with the local market and VRBO said prices are set by owners.
Overall: I would recommend- just pay close attention to the listing (no kitchen, compost toilet, shared shower, fees).
We booked this place on very short notice and we were not disappointed. The Story Time cabin was perfect for me, my husband and my two boys who are 9 and 10 years old. The camp is small, beautiful and very well maintained. Showers and bathrooms were very clean. Eshay was lovely and ready to accommodate us if we had forgotten anything. I liked that we could access the sink to wash our dishes and that we could find our own wood for a fire (although we ended up not doing the fire in the evening as we were very tired from our hikes in the gorges of Ithaca and the fingerlakes! We are likely to return to this campground in the future if we are visiting again.
I gave a slightly lower rating on the "accuracy" of the listing only because we weren't sure if we were getting a cabin with the bed or with the futon. We ended up with the futon which was as comfortable as can be expected - so we weren't necessarily disappointed. Our boys slept well on the bunk beds. The little fridge was perfect for the few things we had each day to keep cool. The kettle was a nice touch to easily boil some water in the morning for tea. A very easy stay for us.
Host was great to work with and pleasant to be around
Primitive had all the necessities we needed and then some with all the accommodations at the main camp
I had a wonderful experience at this property, Camp Earth Connection. It is exactly what it promises to be- a socially and ecologically conscious stay that is comfortable and pleasant. There are plenty of great walking and hiking trails right from the parking lot. The cabin I stayed in had everything I needed, including a comfortable bed and thoughtful additions like a mini fridge and charging ports for my devices. And, I was sung to sleep by several different types of owls, a highlight for me.🥰
This is a wonderful mini cabin that had everything we needed: a peaceful place to rest, many trails to walk, clean and comfortable bathrooms and showers and even Wi-Fi! Owner is super friendly and accommodating!
We had a wonderful time! This place was set off back in the forest and I think it was the first time ever waking up to JUST the sound of the birds and nature itself! Bathrooms and cabins were spic and span clean! Susan and staff were very friendly and helpful but respected our privacy as well! I would highly recommend this place if your looking for relaxation and quiet with options of hiking or heading to many beautiful parks not too far away!! Even my golden was sad to leave.
I enjoyed waking up to lots of birdsong and fresh air. There are nice walks to take and a very relaxed, chill atmosphere. I wanted no frills and that’s what I got - good down-to-earth simplicity.
Susan was a great host. The property was exactly as described on the listing. The cabin and bathroom/shower facilities were impeccably clean. The cabin has small bunk beds and a double bed. Cross ventilation in the cabin helped keep it a comfortable temperature. Exactly what we were looking for.
Suzanne is a great host. I literally enjoyed every single minute at her property. It is a great place to stay if you like hiking. Several trails are worth visiting in the area. I would personally suggest driving if you would like to visit other places in Ithaca. Note: the cabin also had a microwave, a fridge, and a coffee maker. At night you can light up a fire and enjoy the stars. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves being surrounded by nature. I will go back! Thank you Suzanne for being such a great host.
A truly spiritual experience. A beautiful space with tons of hike & bike trails at a nearby state park.

Great Camp Ground
I enjoyed my 8 week stay at this camp ground. The cabin was perfect and I loved sitting on the front porch most mornings to read and meditate. The bathroom facilities are clean and well maintained. The owner(Susan) and her staff (Gabriel) were wonderful.
If it hadn't been for the 3+ weeks of almost constant rain in upstate NY this summer it would have been a perfect 8 weeks!
If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful place to stay for a few days or weeks, I highly recommend this camp ground.

My life's work has included designing and implementing outdoor spaces and activities that are inclusive and anti-biased for families, children and adults to connect with nature and each other. Camp Earth Connection started as a children's camp and in 2015 evolved into a Woodland Campground & Retreat and Environmental Educational Center. Camp Earth Connection provides a welcoming space to all, with a warm welcome to individuals who identify as LGBTQ, as well as people from the BIPOC Community who may not have always felt safe in wilderness settings; And to all people who want to share a peaceful and amazing experience in nature.
Why they chose this property
Camp Earth Connection is a beautiful and serene camp, nestled in the middle of the Hammond Hill Forest. Your hosts Eshay and Druid(camp pup) will greet you when you arrive and give you an orientation to the camp to help you get acclimated. Camp Earth Connection(CEC) is a small campground with just 18 camp/cabin sites, plus adjacent to the camp, in Eshay's Forest, there are 3 additional cabins/cottages with full amenities. When you stay at CEC, you have the opportunity to camp at your comfort level (or challenge yourself with less amenities) and experience nature in the raw.
