The location offers easy access to nearby restaurants, zip lines, hiking, fishing, boating, and swimming. It is a short drive to the Lake Lure beach and Chimney Rock State Park; quaint shops in Chimney Rock and Hendersonville; and music and theater in Brevard and Flat Rock. More Comforts than Home

This family-friendly (sorry, no four-legged family members), home-away-from-home has four bedrooms, a bunk room, and a game room set for ping pong and movie-watching. It is well-equipped with all the comforts of home plus some! The main level has a large great room with a wall of windows and gas-log fireplace; a gourmet kitchen (with granite countertops and upgraded appliances), a half bath with a full-size stack washer and dryer; and a master bedroom with queen bed, large walk-in closet, and spacious private bath. The upper level has two bedrooms with queen-size beds, a lovely full bath in the hall, and a large loft separating the two bedrooms. The lower level has a cozy family room with a bunk area, a large full bath, and a private bedroom with a queen-sized bed. There is definitely room for everyone!

A River Runs Through It

Winding River House has endless options! Go tubing in the river, jump in for a swim, or grab a pole and fish—all right from the backyard or common area in the community.
This home is 6.0 miles to the Beach at Lake Lure, 7.3 miles to Chimney Rock State Park, and 17.3 miles to the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC).

Several excellent golf courses are nearby, including Apple Valley Golf Course, Bald Mountain Golf Course, and Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort, which Golf Digest rated as one of the top 50 golf destinations in the US. The Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area is conveniently situated for outdoor adventure, including horseback riding, tubing, water sports, hiking, museums, theater, the Biltmore Estate and Village, shopping and restaurants, and so much more.

This beautiful home is centrally located just 15 minutes from Bat Cave, 35 minutes from Hendersonville, 50 minutes from Asheville, and about 2 hours from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also nearby are Pisgah National Forest (less than 1 hour from Lake Lure), which has over 500,000 acres of protected forest, and DuPont State Recreational Forest (1.25 hours from Lake Lure) with over 10,000 acres. These forests feature hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, horse trails, exquisite waterfalls, and beautiful mountaintop views. If you and/or your children are fans of The Hunger Games book and movie, a scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. A few small but significant scenes were also filmed at the DuPont State Recreational Forest.Riverbend at Lake Lure Amenities

In addition, you can also enjoy all the amenities Riverbend has to offer: swim in Mirror Lake or Kayak (Kayak provided), build sandcastles on Mirror Lake Beach (there’s a play area for children); have a meal at the covered picnic site complete with picnic tables, rocking chairs, stone fireplaces to BBQ lunch, restrooms and spectacular views; hike, bike, or jog one of the many trails; or sit and relax by the waterfall and river.

*** Summer 2025 - Lake Lure Update ***

Per the website www.townoflakelure.com: Lake Use in 2025- Town Council and Town leadership are keenly aware of the importance of reopening the Lake as soon as it is safe to do so. Given the timing of the work that has been completed thus far and the need for ongoing work moving forward, it is extremely unlikely that the Lake will be able to open for the 2025 summer season. (This includes motorized and non-motorized vessels and swimming.) For those of you who have been following our storm recovery process closely, this news may not be a surprise to you. I thought it was important to share this news with you directly. Please note that Town Council and Town leadership will continue to evaluate options for opening the Lake or portions of the Lake and we will continue to keep you informed with any updates as new information becomes available.

AREA WIDE NOTICE: Lake Lure will undergo a drawdown from January 1st, 2025, through the first quarter of 2025 (March 31st). The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day until 12 feet have been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging, and dam projects will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage. For more information, click here. The lake will likely be back up to normal levels by mid to late April. While we understand this is an inconvenience, this does allow you to enjoy the full beauty of Lake Lure in the fall and holiday season. This will not affect the smaller lakes in the area, only Lake Lure itself.

Smoking is prohibited in all of our vacation rental homes.
Pets are not allowed in this home or on the property.
Parking for two (2) vehicles only. Guests may park an additional vehicle in the Riverbend at Lake Lure parking area, to the right of the gatehouse, and carpool to the home (be careful not to interrupt the flow of traffic through the parking area).
Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. local time (or anytime later).
Check-out time is 10:00 a.m. local time (or anytime earlier).

Note: Cancellation policies may vary on various marketing sites, but it is ALWAYS most affordable to book directly with us at Carolina Properties. Booking direct also enables a guest loyalty discount, available across our many properties upon your second stay.

Great house!

Excellent accommodations, had trouble with wi-fi, but that was the only issue. I would highly recommend it!

Beautiful home

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Winding River House. We did have several issues that can easily be addressed. The shower liner in the upstairs bathroom was very moldy to the extent that we took it down and bought another one. The lighting in the upstairs bedrooms was extremely dim. Larger lamps would help with that. More coffee mugs are really needed for a large group, which we had. And the fire pit area was in terrible shape. Chairs were turned over and trash was all around the area. The size of this house is great and beds were very comfortable. We would stay again, but would hope these concerns would be acted upon.

Perfect House For A Perfect Vaction

Everything was better than the description. The kids loved as well as the adults. The river and waterfalls were a bonus. The house was very clean, beds were so comfortable. The only thing we found unsatisfactory was the lack of a large skillet. The kitchen was well stocked with everything else. We did have an issue with the door code, which was fixed by one quick phone call. Over all great house. Side note if you have physical limitations be aware this house has lots of steps. The drive way is pretty steep and just enough space for 2 cars.

Winding River cabin

The cleanest place we’ve ever seen. Kids had tremendous fun floating down the crystal clear stream on tubes at the cabin. Very safe. Beautiful lake, kayak and waterfall. Only mistake is we didn’t stay long enough!

Great Place

We enjoyed our stay. We had a few smaller issues but our biggest problem was with check in. We had to wait about 30 minutes outside having to use the bathroom because the door lock did not work. The other bigger issue was with the outside lights. We tried every switch but the lights would not come on. Our last night there one of us fell down the steps because we could not see. It was a really nice getaway and for us the lack of WiFi and TV was huge for us and the kids.

Great.

Great house. Well equipped kitchen. Good supply of linens. More info about local community would be helpful along with simple map of immediate area. It would be great if it had wifi so you could get Netflix.

Nice house ... lacks amenities for the price

My family spent a week in July in Winding River House. This is a nice property that is missing a few thing that are needed to be worth the price paid. It has a game room listed and there is only a folded up ping pong table available. For the price there should be a pool table, air hockey... something else to qualify as a game room. Also missing is wifi. While it is great to unplug it's hard to go the week with no wifi for entertainment purposes if no other. There is only 1 TV in the house and it is in the "so called" game room and is basically there for videos only. The biggest problem we had was such low water pressure that you could hardly get wet in the shower. We called and someone was sent out and did work that helped, but we still had to use a pitcher to fill the toilet in the Master so that it would flush. We also never got anything resembling good pressure in the kitchen sink. Very nice property ... just not worth the money without a few adjustments.

Beautiful New Log Cabin, Great Amenties in Clean Home, But nearby home construction traffic

The Winding River House is a beautiful & nicely decorated log cabin with all the indoor amenities you would want aside from TV & Internet! This home was very clean, plenty of linens, nicely furnished, kids play area/ loft was a plus! Kitchen has many appliances & state of the art! The surrounding homes Are in construction which made for less privacy & many times parking issues. The backyard stairs down to the river led to dry river beds but across the entrance drive onto the home's street was a small lake area the kids fish & swim at. The only negative on this home really was a plumbing issue that led us to leave the property early as there was no water or toilet use. It was told to be an initial build "issue" with the home that they were working to rectify once we left. The lack of tv & Internet was in the end a plus to escape our technological world. The home is close proximity to most activities around the lake. We would definitely consider this home in the future pending the nearby construction completion. BEAUTIFUL CABIN WITH GREAT AMENTITIES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. Clean & Up to Date!!

Great house on Broad River!

Great property with plenty of room for kids and family! Well-stocked kitchen and plenty of games and room for the kids. Had a blast fishing and tubing in the river and enjoyed the swimming hole at the bottom of the hill and waterfall walk. Only recommendation would be to add a picnic table or chairs by the river and to clean up path to river, as it was overgrown. (We assumed since it is a brand new house, owners just haven't gotten to that yet.) A grill would also be a welcome addition, as would satellite and wifi for football season! ;) Overall a great property! We look forward to a return trip!
