Place is great! Vrbo is not

We loved the house. Amazing views, close to a restaurant bar, and price was great for property of that size. Definitely will return. Vrbo on the other hand, did not let the property management know I rented the place, and I had to bug the owner day of to get access. It was a pain

So many Eagles!

The Good: Excellent location. The abundance of wildlife and the quality of the view over deliver. The house was spacious, comfortable, and the kitchen was stocked. Less desirables: The beds were all missing a top sheet, which was a bit odd. There were more spider webs inside than I would expect for a place that recieves a cleaning service, and the grill was in need of some cleaning.

Wonderful stay, incredible location

My family did a long weekend at this home and it was wonderful. The location cannot be beat. There were seals swimming around out front at all hours of the day and many eagles flew past. It was peaceful and quiet and the house is set down from the highway enough that we felt comfortable having our dog out in the yard. The house is also very well stocked, including toys for water activities, like a nice new kayak, life jackets, and other boats. We had the best time hanging out on the beach and on the deck just enjoying the scenery. We will absolutely be back.

Not actually 5 bedrooms, missing listed amenities

This property doesn't actually have five bedrooms. There are five rooms that contain beds, but one of them is open to the living room/kitchen (no door and big openings in the wall). Another is in the basement, and it has no window. According to the county property records, this property only has two bedrooms. When we booked, this property was listed as having a hot tub and a washer/dryer. When we arrived, the hot tub wasn't there. There was a washer/dryer, but the property manager informed us that they were broken in the check-in email. A few days in, the septic tank overflow alarm in the driveway went off. We silenced it, but it stayed on the for the duration of our stay. When it first went off, we texted the property manager, who suggested that "too many people were taking showers at the same time" and did not follow up beyond that. That side of the driveway wasn't smelling great by the time we left.

View and setting beautiful

A gorgeous place, with a spectacular water view, but a few little disappointments. The hot tub had been taken out and the TV didn't work. Also a low mechanical hum at night was annoying when trying to sleep.

The place was awesome and work well. The views were inpiring.

We were very disappointed that there was no hot tub as this was a feature we sold to our manager as a time to relax after a day of training.

Toxic Hot Tub + Lack of Owner Responsibility

The place is good enough and location is great. The washer and dryer were not working or available to use while we were there. Also, the rooms are not clearly described and make a group outing a little difficult since there is either no light/windows or no privacy. Unfortunately, the hot tub was at such toxic levels of chemicals/lack of cleaning (we ran a ph test and the water is off the charts bad) that it ruined 4 swimsuits, caused a serious skin rash, and tarnished a wedding ring so badly that a jeweler will need to repair it. The property manager was great, but unfortunately the owner was not willing to make this right by offering any type of refund or monetary support in fixing the destroyed property. This lack of responsibility is completely unacceptable and I would not recommend staying at this house.

Fabulous views and wildlife to watch

We enjoyed our short stay immensely; our goal was to relax, enjoy some great company, play some cards, and just tune out the rest of the world. The views are fantastic, including the estuary to the North. Bring binoculars! There is one pair there, and you will want more. Every bird in the PNW was out there in multitudes: Eagles, Osprey, all kinds of seabirds, Great Blue Herons, King Fishers whizzing by, humming birds, all the little birds, Cormorants, ducks, geese, and probably more I am not thinking of. Seals abound, too. The sunrises were beautiful to watch. We did not take the boats out or drop crab pots, though we watched others haul up their bounty. The beach is many stairs down and it is not a walking beach, per se, but a great exploring beach, especially at low tide. This place has plenty of beds and sleeping areas, mostly in the basement, which was clean, and pretty much only for sleeping. The living space would get quite crowded if every bed was full to capacity. The deck furniture was dirty/covered in leaves & pine needles from constant wind that weekend, so we couldn't really sit out, though in calmer weather we would love it. We pulled the grill around to the side where the wind would be blocked and enjoyed delicious grilled steak and veggies; a great plus. The kitchen is well-stocked with all the dish/cook wares, glasses, and cutlery, anyone could need. An abundance of clean towels, too. We always bring our own knives to rentals, since theirs are always dull, so I don't know what their knives are like. There was even some foil to use, which we appreciated since we forgot ours. This is an older home with older amenities. This didn't bother us in the least, though you may need to know: It isn't fancy and it functions very well. The hot tub controls are cracked and non-functioning, though the tub itself was warm enough to enjoy in the 45-degree weather. The jets are permanently half on/half off, which is odd, though I enjoyed a long soak out there with a great view. The washer/dryer were non-functioning; no problem for a 2-day stay, though on the fridge it asks renters to wash and dry the towels and linens they use, and run the dishwasher before leaving. With a $180 cleaning fee, I don't mind putting the towels in the hamper & starting the dishwasher before we leave, though I don't see us doing that much cleaning. We enjoyed the Geoduck, too. We want to go back to explore more and enjoy this home again!

What a beautiful spot

Leading up to the visit I did have to do a tiny bit of emailing to ensure I’d have the access info I’d need to get it (it would be late and dark and with the kids in the mix I needed to ensure a smooth process). Upon arrival everything was great. The downstairs floor is a little odd and we didn’t really use it. The main floor and the top floors served our family of three adults and two kids just fine. Kids loved the hot tub. The adults loved the access to the beach, the views (the sunrise was incredible each morning), and our ability to explore nearby (the salmon were running and it was a sight to behold!). I received several pings from friends on social media after sharing some of the beauty of the water, sky, and nature asking if they could get the listing for where we were staying. It was a lovely trip! We made some great memories here and had a very comfortable stay.

Perfect extended family vacation home and location

Hard to know what this property doesn't have.... From the arrival welcome snack pack to a kitchen packed with useful cooking tools, to an amazing view of Puget Sound, etc. We are a bit of an adventurous family and we brought our own kayaks which could be easily launched once down the stairs to the beach and provided excellent nature experiences around Dosewallips tidelands -- eagles, turkey vultures, herons, seals, etc. Although it is 0.5 mile along 101 to get to Dosewallips State Park for hiking, once there, there are nice trails, etc., and never took long to get an empty stretch of traffic making it easy and non-pressure to get across 101 on foot to the park. Four sleeping areas for families plus the ability to make up a sleeper sofa if needed. 3 bathrooms. Nice large table for an extended family -- both inside and outside. Plenty of silverware and plates and cups! :-) We brought camping chairs which we found very helpful down at the lower deck and beach area to sit and or use the binnoculars to keep tabs on wildlife, etc. At high tide, the water goes under the lower deck making it rather fun to sit on top of the water and the seals might come closer in due to the deeper water at high tide. At low tide, quite the expanse of beach area, although squishy and taking advantage of the house-provided rubber boots was considered a good choice. :-) We did have one dog who got a cut on his paw at low tide sinking in to his knees and must have stood on a sharp shell. Note: Very handy hose and sprayer to wash all such mud off of folks and pets before going up into the house. Internet speed was fine -- we did have issues streaming a movie on Friday night, but no issues streaming on Mon/Tue and Thu so not sure where the bandwidth issue was on Friday. But easy to not worry about if downloading movies in advance. Was truly a great place to spend a week with our adult children and partners!

Beautiful location, beautiful house

Great house. Beautiful kitchen and windows looking out on the canal. I was a little concerned about the openings on the second floor looking out over the living space because my toddlers are rambunctious climbers and I didn't want them to get up on furniture and fall out. But we made it without incident and thoroughly enjoyed using the firepit and rowboat. We saw bald eagles and elk from the hot tub. It was a wonderful stay.

The view!

What a lovely property! The place is huge with tons of space, many bedrooms, and a huge deck. The view is spectacular and we were able to sit in the hot tub (warm, not super hot, so good for our kiddo), and watch a racoon crawl up a tree, a coyote bothering a herd of elk, an eagle flying overhead and a seal popping his head-up all at the same time!

Stunning Views

Our stay was very relaxing with great views! We saw all sorts of wildlife including seals, otters, eagles, a raccoon and whales. Some in the distance and some right out back. Bring binoculars! The place is clean, spacious and well stocked. We were a little disappointed that we didn’t know ahead of time that the washer and dryer was not working and the outside grill wasn’t really useable or we would have planned better. The Geoduck is great and we visited the Olympic Game Farm in Sequim. Both highly recommended. All in all it was a pleasant getaway. Check in and check out was easy.

Big, Beautiful House with Amazing Views!

This beautiful Hood Canal hideaway was exactly what we needed for a weekend outside the city! The view is just as expansive and gorgeous as the photos here display. The house itself was super clean, spacious, and as others have mentioned - a very well-stocked kitchen perfect for cooking big family meals. Julia was a fabulous host and super responsive when we messaged with questions both before and during the trip. We highly recommend for anyone saying in Hood Canal - don't miss Hama Hama down the road!
