Wonderful rustic camp
We picked this property because of its rustic nature as well as ability to host a large number of people. The views are absolutely amazing. We couldn’t get enough, hated to leave. We look forward to booking again in the future.

Classic Lakeside Camp
Our family had a wonderful time at this classic lakeside camp! We found it very clean, spacious, comfortable, well equipped, and charmingly rustic. Absolutely breathtaking views and very well situated with a short walk to the rail trail. Loved it!

Rustic? Just dirty and dusty
My Wife and I booked a stay for 4 nights, We only stayed there 1 night and got a hotel for the remainder of our stay. Rustic does not mean filthy. The coffee pot had green mold, the kitchen smelled like trash (due to the trash can and recylcles never being cleaned) Cobwebs and spiders everywher, pubic hairs and urine on the toilet.... the furniture is worn out and the roof leaks by the front door! Tent camping would be better. Not worth the money.

Great Vacation
House provided family of 5 (all over 20 years) plenty of room to hang out yet have separate spaces. Screened in porch best feature! Great for large dinners or sitting watching the water with a book. Alot to do nearby between Colchester and Burlington. Great vacation!

Great Place Right on the Lake
This was an incredible place right on Lake Champlain. The location could not be better. It feels very remote, yet you are 15 minutes from Burlington. Inside, it is rustic and very comfortable. Everything was neat and clean. In the main house you can easily fit 10 people with their own rooms. You can add another couple with a futon in the main room. The property management company was responsive and easy to deal with. Overall, when visiting Burlington, I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful property in a beautiful area
Really loved the house and property. It was the perfect distance from the city to have the seclusion and peace we traveled for, while also being close to everything we needed or wanted for entertainment. The sunsets were incredible, and we very much look forward to coming back if able!

Views Galore!
Our group of 8 adults stayed for 3 nights. There was room for everyone. Plenty of seating. The cottage had the best stocked kitchen I’ve seen in any rental with plenty of dishes and cookware. We used the fire pit each night after enjoying the incredible sunsets over Lake Champlain to the Adirondacks. The location was good for hopping on the bike trail and it was only a 10 minute drive into Burlington. We loved the rustic nature of the cottage- it has history. And you can’t beat the views!

Graduation weekend a success!
The property worked out great. Scott the property manager very accessible and flexible. The property has unbelievable views of the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain. So many amenities that contributed to the success of the weekend - front decks, with furniture, BBQ tapped into gas, 2 coolers, kitchen stocked with sharp knives, plates, cookware, spices, coffee/tea, basic stocked items. Living room and dining areas flowed well for entertaining. Enjoyed evening's outside fire pit and 15 Adirondack chairs.

College Graduation
I rented the property for my daughters UVM gradation. The place was perfect! We had 6-7 staying but could have fit more. Plus there is a bunk house that we be additionally rented (no bathroom but sleeping space!) The main house is rustic so you will hear creaky footsteps at night. 2 Bathrooms on first floor, none on the 2nd but certainly enough for fine for our stay. Front decks were great with BBQ grill (piped in gas, so no tanks needed), multiple coolers available. Kitchen fully equipped with sharp knives, PAM, multiple coffee pots (including a Keurig), spices and they had fresh cut flowers for us! We hosted a barbecue with yard games and fire pit at home. The view are just to die for and we will have many memories of the place. Scott the property manager very accessible and accommodating. Thank you for all the fun times and photos. We had an unbelievable views of Adirondacks and sunsets. Thank you!!

Fantastic house for a large family to chill out for a week!
We loved everything about the house on Barney Point! The large screened-in dining room with a 180-degree view of the Green Mountains and Adirondacks made sit-down family dinners for 11+ the perfect spot to enjoy our meals. The well-appointed kitchen had everything we needed to fix those meals whether grilling or roasting in the oven and the dishwasher made cleaning up super easy. Morning coffee on the front porch overlooking the lake was a great way to start the day and the fire pit in the backyard made for a great spot for sunset viewing and making "Some Mores" at the end of the day. We were never bored between biking on the Causeway or playing basketball, pickleball, and tennis at nearby Airport Park. The nearby beach was a definite highlight. As long as we all had water shoes, the rocks were only a mild inconvenience and the water was perfect for stand-up paddling or the giant raft we brought with us. By the end of the day, we welcomed the comfy beds!

Fantastic location and beautiful sunsets
There are so many great things about this house and property but some people may not like the "rustic" nature of it so be advised. I always think it's best to have the correct expectations! The location is perfect(close to the bike path, causeway, airport park, and beach) and the yard and deck were so pleasant. We loved the swing! The sunsets were incredible and it was very nice to look out almost all the windows and see the water. The screened porch was great for the gang eating together. The kitchen is well equipped, I loved the coffee/tea "station". The house is definitely rustic in that there is little paneling or sheetrock over the studs leaving wires and nails exposed. Maybe not the best place for young children? The three upstairs bedrooms were spacious and comfortable but the walls between them were not to the ceiling so that light and sound went between them all. This was a little problematic for our group as we had little kids and night owls together. This place is really quite unique and has so many great things about it, I hate to say anything "negative" but I feel it may not please some folks especially given the rather high rent for the week.

Graduation Celebration!
This was the perfect spot for our family to gather to celebrate our daughters graduation from UVM. The views and relaxed vibe of the house were just what we were looking for. Easy access to Burlington, close to the causeway for sunset walks, plenty of room for all of us. I wouldn’t recommend this place to people with young children, only because of the rustic nature of the house. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

Nice location but the property is too rustic and barebones for the price we paid. Most walls are unfinished and no insulation whatsoever. Suitable for summer trips without any kids.

Barney Point
Barney Point is a unique experience-a charmingly rustic home with ALL the amenities needed for a relaxing and fun vacation! The expansive views from the front deck, side screened-in porch, and back yard are stunning! You feel like you are in a very remote location, yet there are so many fun activities nearby. The world-famous Rail Trail bike path is just down the street-great for all fitness levels in the family!. We enjoyed sailing in Mallett's Bay, kayaking/swimming at North Beach, and eclectic Burlington/Winooski restaurants. Still, the highlight was relaxing at the house with the breeze and the gorgeous views-very therapeutic!

Summer 2019, Great family spot
Barney Point was everything my family loves about a summertime gathering spot! Rustic, yet comfortable! Wonderful views of the lake and mountains! Lots of room in the yard for kids to be kids, while adults relax and enjoy each other’s company on one of several decks or around the fire pit! Burlington VT is now one of our favorite spots and Barney Point is very close to all kinds of things to do! We hiked, biked, boated, dined and drank, all just a few minutes from the house! I would definitely recommend Barney Point to those looking to stay with extended family or friends.

Fabulous Vacation on Lake Champlain
Our stay at Barney Point was magical. Located close to Burlington and the Islands we had access to all the amenities of the area. The beach was a short walk down a path so we kayaked and swam every day. The bike path was minutes from the camp making biking into Burlington easy. Heading north on the bike path brought us to the Causeway that separates Mallette's Bay from the open lake. The camp is very comfortable, clean and large enough for a crowd. The kitchen is fully equipped and the side eating porch has a 2 large tables to gather around for meals. When we needed a quiet place to read we only had to go to the front or back of the camp to find a quiet spot. Tim was very helpful answering all our questions and giving us helpful tips. We plan to go back next year for another special vacation on the lake. *This review was originally Published Aug 20, 2013 on HomeAway about a stay in Aug 2013. Wonderful End to Our Summer at Barney Point
Our large family just finished a week's stay at Barney Point, and is still talking about it. This rustic cottage is set on a cliff directly on Lake Champlain. With 14 of us, including 2 babies, there was ample room for eating, sleeping, and even getting away from each other if needed. We made use of the bunkie as well. This is like a cottage should be, simple yet well stocked. The magnificent wood stove heated up the cabin on those cooler mornings. Easy access to the beach, bicycle paths, Burlington, superb views of the mountains in NY, beautiful sunsets were all much enjoyed bonuses. We enjoyed all that Vermont has to offer.....scenery, swimming, fishing and kayaking in Lake Champlain, hiking up and down Mt. Mansfield, cliff jumping, biking, picking blueberries, Burlington Farmer's market (probably the best out there) and so much more. Tim, thanks for all your help in planning our vacation. I knew, when I first spoke with you, that your cottage was meant for us....seeing you come from a family of 11, and we have 11 children. If we are ever back in Vermont, we will definitely stay at Barney Point. *This review was originally published Sep 1, 2013 on HomeAway about a stay in Aug 2013. We are a family of eleven siblings, now grown with kids, grandkids and great-grandkids of our own. Our parents bought Barney Point in 1948. We still call it "camp", as many seasonal properties are commonly referred to here in Vermont ...and we still use the property every year. We especially enjoy being able to share this glorious spot on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain (a.k.a., "the West Coast of New England") with others ...like you! We hope you and your family & friends enjoy it as much as we have all these years.
