Tranquility at its best

The cabin is very welcoming and the views are out of this world. We felt right at home. We were able to fish every day and even learned how to kayak!

Beyond our expectations - wow!

From the smallest of personal details to the grandeur of the setting we were blessed to call the cabin on the Long Pond home for a week. The Phoenix is rich in legacy and filled with warm touches of days gone by. We came for a much needed getaway and to celebrate our granddaughter’s graduation. We look forward to our next visit in the mountains of Maine. Thank you.

NICE !!

From entering the cottage to enjoying the lake, the kayaks and the firepit for a night time fire everything was perfect. Neal (the host) was available for any and all questions. Every household entity you could ask for was in the cottage and with a grocery store just a few miles away IT was a week of no stress.

Perfection on Long Pond

We had a wonderful stay at The Phoenix! Everything you need is provided. The location is ideal as you are literally just feet from the pond and less than 15 minutes to Lincoln and under an hour to Bangor! We enjoyed many of the amenities that the property offered--the kayaks, the fire pit, the grill, the wifi, the deck with it's afternoon shade...Our dog swam multiple times a day; he often would not eat until he got a morning swim in! We saw (and heard) loons and had a bald eagle fly by on our last day. We hope to return year after year!

Relaxing

We could not have asked for a better place to get away from it all. It is a 30th anniversary that we will not forget. The cabin was a home away from home. I felt like I was in my own place. We woke up to sun rises and relaxing by the fire as the sun goes down. We swam in the lake and took the kayaks out. It was amazing. Seeing baby ducks and listening to loons just added to the enjoyment. The area is very quiet and neighbors are friendly. We did not want our vacation to end. We can not wait till we can go back again. The host is very friendly and easy to work with.

Phoenix The last weekend of June

My fiancé and I had an amazing stay with our 2 dogs. We swam, floated off the dock, boated, fished had fires and made SO many memories. The boat launch was east to access and the dock well equipped for our 18’ boat. The water was sandy and perfect for swimming with our dogs. The house has beyond everything necessary for a week stay. Sleeping was comfy and outdoor furniture is beautiful. The decor and trinkets around the house truly tell a story and make you feel at home. Neal was responsive and helpful from the moment we booked and made our stay at the Phoenix even better, if that’s possible! The neighbors are lovely and the lake is beautiful to explore and boat. This was one of the best vacations we’ve had near or far and are already looking forward to our next stay. The Phoenix exceeded our expectations!

Fantastic Getaway

Property manager, Neil, went above and beyond expectations. The cabin was beautiful inside and out. Central air and heat were a plus with the tempuratures fluctuating. The cabin was stocked with all amenities needed, as if you never left your own home! The inside was imaculate, along with the outside! The cabin is very well maintained. Outside is very well landscaped and beautiful. The deck, which is about 75 ft from the water had a beautiful iron bar table with chairs and an iron beautiful table set with an unbrella. The gas grill is top of the line and big perfect for family cookouts! There was a beautiful firepit by the water with adirondick chairs. The cabin came with two kayaks and a paddleboat. A motorboat was available at an exta cost. Everything was so beautiful, we hated to leave. We definitely will be back next year!!! All in all, just a beautiful cabin on a beautiful pond with an excellant manager. I highly recommend this cabin to all!!!

Private and peaceful

Wonderful stay! Plenty of space for 4 adults. Privacy between this camp and the neighbors made for a really pleasant time sitting outside. Furniture not very comfortable for relaxing in the evening. Bed was terrible.

Beautiful spot and cottage

We enjoyed the view and all the surroundings of Mother Nature. Great escape for that reason alone. The cottage had everything that we needed, although the beds and sitting are furniture were quite uncomfortable. We really needed this time away to get some relaxation and found it uncomfortable to the point where our sleep was compromised. I would recommend investing in more comfortable beds and sitting furnishings.

Awesome cabin!

We had a relaxing time...wish we would have done two weeks instead of one! Cabin had everything we needed, and was quiet and spotless...woke up listening to the lions every morning while sipping coffee on the deck. Night was for bloody Mary’s by the fire pit. Neal has tons of wood ready to boot...can’t say enough about the place!!!

Wonderful week!

We came here with our two-month-old daughter and small puppy. It was the perfect cabin rental! The cabin is beautiful and has everything we needed, the yard, and access to the water perfectly fit our needs as well. We highly recommend it and we will certainly consider coming back next year. Our only regret is that we booked one week instead of two!

Enjoy a beautiful Lake area in Maine

Well kept, comfortable, beautiful lake front cabin with use of kayak; good wireless-feels like home. Day trips can take you to Moosehead Lake and Katahdin Waters. The sky on a moonless clear night is unbelievable with stars . Local town of Lincoln has all you need.

This place is a dream

The owner Neal is a great host. The cabin was very clean. There were clean towels and linens. It was such a treat to walk right out of the kitchen and swim in the pond (which looked like a huge lake in my eyes). My kind of swimming place- crystal clear warm water, with a sandy bottom-perfect. The area is quiet and peaceful. Was so sad to have to leave and go home.

Wonderful vacation at the Phoenix

My husband and I were absolutely delighted with this cabin. Very relaxing and peaceful. Sometimes it was so quiet, which was exactly what we were looking for, we felt like we were the only people on the lake, we loved it. Everything written about this place was true to form, we wanted nothing more. We stayed for 2 weeks and had beautiful weather every single day. Sitting on the deck mornings and evenings were amazing to watch the fish jump, the loons pass by, hummingbirds everyday. The boat was wonderful to do fishing every day. Our grown children came to stay for a few days and they loved it. Hated to go home. I grew up in that area (East Millinocket) and never knew that lake was there. What a find, if we do a staycation as we call it in Maine, and if Neal will have us, we would love to stay again. We way over packed, we didn't need to bring anything but our clothes, shopping for groceries is 15 minutes away. Thank you so very much Neal for your quick responses when we had question, you are amazing. I give this more than 5 stars. Andy and Melodie Ahles July 2019

Nothing shy of amazing!

I can not even begin to say enough good about our stay at the cabin! Neil made everything so easy. We had so much fun relaxing by the lake, swimming, kayaking, fishing and the kids had a blast on the paddle boat! This place actually got the kids to put the cell phones down and enjoy all the nature of the cabin! That in itself says something huge about the magic of the Phoenix!! It's tucked nicely in the woods but a quick 10 minute drive to anything you need. Which all we needed was food. Everything else is stocked in the cabin. Everyday we couldn't help but look around in pure aww of how beautiful the cabin, the lake, the sunrises and sunsets were! I absolutely recommend this cabin to anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the real world without roughing it!

Beautiful and peaceful location

We loved the peacefulness of this property! We spent every morning and evening on the dock watching and listening to the loon family (mom and dad were teaching baby how to fish). It has a very homey "grandma's house" kind of feel, had everything we needed and the inclusion of kayaks was much appreciated (paddleboat was not in working order but we preferred the kayaks anyway). The grill was really nice and large. The downstairs bed is super comfortable (new, nice quality mattress), the upstairs beds not so much but typical of camps here in Maine. It was easy to get to and was centrally located to the areas we wanted to visit on day trips. We were traveling with our 95yo mother and our senior dog, and were happy to find a property to accommodate both. Neal was very easy to communicate with.

About the host

Hosted by Neal Feeley

Host profile image
I've been vacationing in Maine with my family since I was old enough to walk. My mother is a true 'Maine-iac', born and raised not far from the cabin and although she moved away when she and my father were married in 1954 we would always end up in Maine on vacation. So in 1985 the opportunity arose and my parents purchased the original cabin that sat on this very spot. In 1994 there was a devastating fire and the cabin was lost. After not knowing really what to do my mom decided to rebuild and in 1995 my sisters named our new cabin 'The Phoenix'.

Why they chose this property

If you've never been to Maine then you don't know how breathtaking it really is. Pictures or words cannot explain the calm and the relaxation felt here. You just can't find it anyplace else. To my family, it's the most beautiful place on the planet.
My mother lived in the cabin year round until late 2011 and has since decided to relocate a little closer to her great grandchildren. My sisters and I have been coming here all our lives and our children have been coming here their whole lives and now my grandchildren are coming here. Although friends and family have stayed over the years 2012 will be the first year that we will be renting the cabin. After generations it's part of us and we just don't want to let it go.

What makes this property unique

One of the most unique benefits of our cabin is that it sits at the end of a dead end road, so you never deal with any dusty traffic driving by, it is so calm and quiet. I've never had anyone, friends or family, stay at the cabin and not say ' it's the most beautiful place we've ever stayed' you get mesmerized just sitting on the deck and staring out over the lake at the scenery. or at night sitting at the fire pit looking up at the stars, you get dizzy there are so many!
