Great for Family

The farmhouse was perfect for our family getaway weekend with our adult children. Very spacious living room, dining room, and five bedrooms helped make our stay very comfortable and relaxing. Elaine, the property's owner, was very accommodating and informative. We would definitely stay here again the next time we are visiting the Berkshires.

My review

Comfortable home, good setting, close to Tanglewood, and a friendly, accommodating host ((Elaine Hoffman). There was a lovely sunporch, a grill, and outside space for games!

Lovely place although a little dusty

The place has a lot of character, we loved the wooden materials and utensils. It's pretty spacious with 5 beds. No hot tub/jacuzzi, only shower, and no fire pit either. The host graciously gave us flowers and fresh vegetables from her garden. She was very communicative and emailed us lots of recommendations for activities in the area. The only complaint is the sofas and beddings are a quite dusty and gave us all allergies.

4 friends in the Berkshires

This is a quaint farmhouse with a fabulous porch for breakfast and evening cocktails. The beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water and the hostess, Elaine has thought of everything you could possibly need. She shares her fresh produce from her garden to add to our meals. She is very helpful with directions and information on local sites. The location is perfect for exploring the best the Bershires has to offer! We had a wonderful week! We look forward to returning soon!

Peaceful Berkshires getaway

We had a lovely stay in the Berkshires. The house is in great shape for being almost 200 years old - very well maintained and clean. We had plenty of space for our four adults and two kids. Elaine is a fantastic and attentive host. A perfect long weekend away with family. Highly recommended!

Great New Years Getaway

We were 2 families of adults celebrating the new year. This house had everything we needed. The house was quaint and had some great hiking right behind it. The owner and her pottery studio also lived in the property. A short drive to Stockbridge and great Barrington.

Good for bigger group esp when weather is good.

House was great for a bigger group - we had 6 sleeping there. House is old and does have some old house smells but is well maintained. it is near the street so there is some traffic noise. Hostess was most gracious.

Very nice place in the Berkshires

This cozy farmhouse was exactly as described in the listing. Elaine was very accommodating and went out of her way to insure we had what needed. We work for a traveling construction company, each guy had their own room and the space to walk around outside to get away as needed. Will definitely keep contact info if we have to work in area again.

Quaint Berkshires farmhouse

This was the perfect place to gather for a group of adults (family and friends) coming together for a Tanglewood extended weekend. The charming farmhouse had lovely quaint details, such as exposed beams, wide plank floors, quirky closets. We spent most of our time and had all of our meals out on the ample screened porch, looking out over the lovely garden. The kitchen was well equipped. As it is an old house, we kept the windows open to keep it aired out. And thankfully every window had tight fitting screens and really effective fans, which were all we needed to stay comfortable even on hot nights. Elaine was a gracious and friendly host, and really made us feel welcomed. Our only reservation would be for people with mobility concerns: 4 bedrooms are up a steep and narrow staircase. This was not a concern for any of us, but it could be challenging for some, or for people with heavy luggage.

Spacious and Inviting

My wife and I wanted a place that was quiet with a comfortable reading room and accessible porch, close enough to town and still distant enough for serenity - and this house had it. Not that we needed it but it's important to acknowledge that the house has 5, count 'em, 5 bedrooms. It's a bit rustic, as disclosed, but the master bedroom upstairs was very comfortable. Plenty of sheets and towels and a very well-stocked kitchen. We did not need the dining room but that was a lovely room as well. The house is on Rte 41 so there was the sound of traffic, but at night so few cars passing it was not an issue. Our favorite room was the wide and comfortable screened-in porch, where I spent most of my time. The drive to Great Barrington is under 15 minutes and Stockbridge is even closer. All of this is delightful, but the best feature is Elaine's hospitality - always available if we needed anything but never interfering. She is fascinating: be sure to ask about her personal, worldly life experience.

AWFUL FALSE ADVERTISING

Welcome to our idyllic farmhouse in the beautiful Berkshires, where you’ll enjoy the tranquility and comfort of country living any season of the year.**** Upon arrival we were shocked to find this house 25 feet from the main extremely busy road.( We came with three dogs and two children under 4). This first picture on that Eliane has on this website is taken from her house that is directly behind the "Farmhouse". This owner was watching our family the entire time. We had left to run to the local store to come back to her coming into the house with a written letter stating that we were going to be charged more money because our family that we met halfway from New York had came to our place and they had a Teacup Poodle, and we didn't inform her of that. Relax, slow down, watch the birds in the garden, listen to the babbling brook. Or take advantage of all the Berkshires has to offer – cultural attractions, fine dining, outdoor adventures, shopping and more. Spend some time here and create memories for years to come. ***"The babbling brook" You cannot see it from the house. This is a 2 story 1840's farmhouse in the Berkshires with original ceiling beams and 16' floor boards in much of the house. Fully furnished with 5 bedrooms, 2 full baths and a gorgeous screened-in porch overlooking 4 acres of gardens, stream and wooded mountains. A large living room with 2 full couches (one is a comfortable queen pull out and the other is a great napping or over night sleeping couch), a love seat, and rocking chairs. WiFi/Cable TV/VCR/DVD/Stereo/and CD player. *** Wifi does not work. All the furniture listed in this add is extremely old and worn out. There is a weird moldy odor. The owner states their is "memory foam" which is really a sheet of egg cartons foam. "Wooded and river walks/bicycling, cross country skiing/snowshoeing right out the door".** False If you want to go for a walk you need to walk a half a mile down the street into someone else's yard to get to any walking trails. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL Experience here would not recommend to anyone.

Great country house and setting

This house is a great country farm house with a great host. Elaine’s pottery shop is on the property and she was available whenever we had questions. She went over the house rules etc., gave us the keys and answered our questions when we got there. She has a big garden and shared fresh produce with us. Flowers too! The house has plenty of room and was the best stocked house of the many we stayed in. Our bed was so comfortable. There is a screened in back porch that we enjoyed during morning coffee. I saw several yard games that were for use. The tv was a little tricky to use but Elaine came and showed us how. This was a good house for our hiking group and would be a great place for families.

Delightful location--absolutely wonderful host

A step back in time to a simpler way of living in the Berkshires. Ten mnutes to Tanglewood and Lenox. Located on a beautiful property with access ro vegetables and herbs grown by the owner. Fully equipped kitchen and wonderful porch. All the linens we could ever need and a wonderful Host, Elaine Hoffman who made sure we had everything we needed--even someone to go on walks with in the early morning so that she couldd show us some beauriful paths we would never discover on our own. Easy to find. Fifteen minutes to shopping in Great Barrington. Five minutes to West Stockbridge. We had a delightful time.

Great getaway for a family or group

Our 3 night stay at Elaine’s 180 year old farmhouse exceeded expectations. We had plenty of bedrooms, a fully outfitted kitchen where we could prepare meals, a large dining room and a screen porch. The setting is lovely and the yard big enough to kick around a soccer ball. Elaine also gave us a great tip for a local pizza shop where we picked up the pizzas and cooked them back at the house. The furnishings and appliances are comfortably old-fashioned but everything works. We’ll be back!

Rustic stay in the Berkshires

We just spent 5 nights for a family gettogether (67+) of my siblings and our dog Gracie. Elaine has done a wonderful job of creating a place where families can bond. The living room was large with plenty of seating. The large dining table was much nicer than going out to a restaurant. The weather was still nice enough for us to enjoy the screened porch with its plentiful seating. Morning tea and coffee was relaxing out there. The kitchen is well stocked (so well there isn't much room for your stuff) and had everything you would need. The gadget drawer had it all from pizza cutter to bottle opener. Elaine even provided fresh greens and tomatoes from her garden. Everyone commented that the bed they slept in was comfortable. Gracie is a free-range dog so she did get a little antsy being on a lease around the house but there is a rail trail nearby and she could burn some energy there. Being a group of elderly people we did find one negative to an otherwise perfect place. Being an old farmhouse, the stairs to the second floor became an issue for us. They are well-lit and have railings on both sides, but they are steep and narrow. We have members that are less agile than they used to be. So if that is not a problem for you, this is a great place. It is clean and it is comfortable and we had a memorable time.

Great spot for friend vacation

A group of friends enjoyed our 5 days at the West Stockbridge farmhouse. The weather was rainy, but it didn't keep us from enjoying the fabulous screened porch. The setting is relaxing, gardens are beautiful. Our host even shared some flowers and vegetables from her garden. The kitchen is wonderful for group cooking - well stocked with plates, glasses and cookware. Plenty of space for the group to spread out, bedrooms have nice storage, plenty of blankets. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse and hope to visit again soon.

Comfort in a lovely setting

The Farmhouse is exactly what we were looking for; beautiful grounds, an authentic home with many comforts and a great location. Elaine is a warm and informative host! She gave us great tips and we enjoyed meeting her. The home is very well stocked with kitchenware and linens. We felt at home. The location is central to the places we visited in Stockbridge. We hope to return soon, sit in the wonderful screened back porch and enjoy all the beauty of this farmhouse.
