About this property

Whaling Captain Pierson's Apartment

Whaling Captain Pierson's Apartment is at a waterfront property and is an apartment in one of the contributing homes which define Sag Harbor as a historic village. The house is a 7 minutes’ walk from the center of historic Sag Harbor Village. It is the only house and apartment offering a vast, picturesque, panoramic view of beautiful Sag Harbor Cove from Main Street as well as spectacular sunsets. (See my other listings entitled, "Whaling Captain Pierson's Apartment TOO" and "Whaling Captain Pierson's Cottage".)

If you do not see the booking availability desired, look at my other postings of Whaling Captain's Pierson's Apartment TOO and Whaling Captain Pierson's Cottage. Or, if your party is larger than one apartment can accommodate consider booking both apartments and the cottage.

Whaling Captain Pierson's Apartment is on Captain’s Row within the main house on the second floor. The property is surrounded by nature and the apartment overlooks the cove and has views of Otter pond. The apartment’s antique furnishings reflect both a classical and whimsical ever evolving sensibility without feeling stuffy or old. This is a 1-bedroom apartment with one queen size bed. Window AC units will provide cooling during the summer and cast iron radiators provide heating in the winter. The apartment has one full bathroom. The kitchen consists of stainless steel appliances of a dishwasher, refrigerator and range with a washer and dryer right off the kitchen. The apartment has a private deck and the property a private beach, expansive grounds and parking.

The apartment allows privacy for an individual or a loving couple. It is ideal for the single visitor or other various types of creative and/or performing artists who are looking for a haven to relax and/or create. Experience the apartment’s environment or just be part of its inspiring, healing, spirit and soul uplifting surroundings.

During the day you may see ducks waddling, bunny rabbits with small white tails scurrying, orange breasted birds frolicking and turtles meander across the lawn. Also, deer can be seen nibbling the grass and white swans, ospreys, ducks or seagulls flying around or swimming in Sag Harbor Cove.

There is also a variety of antique, clothing and novelty shops as well as many restaurants, bars and beaches.

Serene and Pristine in Sag Harbor

Charming, curated, and peaceful is how I would describe this property. It’s quaint, quiet, lovely and had everything I needed. The host is very knowledgeable about the area and wish I could’ve learned more. I hope I get the chance to stay again!

Wonderful, historic home in Sag Harbor

This is a beautiful old house, with oodles of charm. The home is beautifully decorated. There is a beautiful view over the Cove and a path to the beach if you want to take a dip. The home was very clean with all the amenities. The home is a few minutes walking distance to the shops and restaurants in downtown Sag Harbor Our host was welcoming, thanks for a great time in Sag Harbor

Apt with a view

We really enjoyed our stay. The small back deck had the most amazing view of Sag Harbor Cove and I could easily sit there all day watching the ospreys. Paris was an amazing host that greeted us on arrival and shared the house's history. The apartment had everything you needed if you wanted to cook there but we enjoyed the short walk into town.

Beautiful serene views

Lovely apartment- perfect for a stay in Sag Harbor. The view from the kitchen is outstanding, the beds comfortable and the sitting room is cozy. Walking distance to town. As others have noted, the stairs are steep to the upstairs bedrooms but manageable with the handrails. Would stay there again in the future.

A lovely experience.

A perfect stay in a beautiful house in a beautiful location. We adored the house, the location, Sag Harbor itself, the shops, the beaches, the restaurants, in fact everything about our experience! Paris and Clifton were charming hosts, gave us a delightful welcome and ensured we were absolutely comfortable and had everything we needed during our stay. I’d recommend Captain Pearson’s apartment as THE place to stay in Sag Harbor.

Sag Harbor Captains House

Wonderful stay. No better location! Great communication with host. If you are a cook you will need to bring some of your needed spices. The kitchen is well supplied with pots and pans. It is an electric stove as an fyi. You will enjoy your stay and have fun watching the ospreys!

Beautiful, authentic sea captains home in storied Sag Harbor

We had a beautiful, restful time at this charming, tastefully decorated apartment within walking distance to down town Sag Harbor. The unit was both clean and comfortable. I made dinner in the lovely eat in kitchen with a view of the cove from the window. The owners were kind and responsive. Really can't ask for much more.

Short Stay 4nts

We found house to be in great location. Plenty of room to Park ( in street ).At one point we had 4 vehicles. It was no problem but it’s first time I was responsible to take Garbage away with us at checkout. All in All a good stay, clean and comfortable home

Delightful place, odd trash procedure.

Although the stay was nice, and the place was exactly as indicated. I was initially surprised by the additional "damage insurance" charges and deposit. Also, although it didn't apply to me because I was traveling by motorcycle, the owner expected the guests to pack up their trash and take it to the city dump, which isn't on the property.

A Little R and R

We stayed in a cozy apartment in the rear of the second floor. The apartment had a living room, bedroom with a small closet-sized sitting room next to it, functional kitchen (which we really didn't use) and a deck off the kitchen overlooking the grounds and water behind the house. Loved the layout! Paris is a welcoming host and lives on premises. The house and furnishings are nice, but all are quite old (there's antique, and then there's old), and in need of upkeep (for example, there were holes in a couch pillow and the kitchen towel, there was one teaspoon, and the kitchen sponge smelled...stupid and nit-picky, I know, but just saying, expect no-frills). Still good accommodations for the price in this area. The house is situated in a very nice neighborhood within a 15 minute walk of the lovely stores and restaurants of the Village of Sag Harbor and a short drive to East Hampton and Amagansett. We thoroughly enjoyed a play at the Bay Street Theater (just short of a Broadway production). All in all, this accommodation served us well and we would come back.

Caution, STAIRS.

It was a lovely property, beautiful location that was easily found and accessible to local fare. However, we were told there was a private beach, which was not what we considered "beach." It is a marshy wade to the water's edge, at best. I was unaware that we would be staying on 2 levels which was accessed via a third flight of steps. All steps were very small and hand rails were not well anchored in places. Much more "rustic" than what the photos were able to capture, especially the top floor of our apartment. It was definitely not safe for the 3 of us, women ages 62 -70, it was difficult and scary with steep narrow steps and wobbly hand rails. This is NOT a handicap accessible property. This was my first time booking a VRBO so maybe I just missed the fine print.

Apartment and Village so quaint

The cottage was perfect! The view was amazing. The apartment was roomy and comfortable. Paris and Clifton could not have been nicer or easier to work with. The village was in walking distance. There was also a deli just a few doors down that was a nice little surprise. I’d go for coffee and pastries in the morning. I walked everywhere. Will definitely return.
