Wonderful place, easy and quick communication. It's a bit off the beaten path but Hilltop Haven is well worth the littler bit of extra effort. Appointed well, comfortable, great layout! Great stay at Hilltop Haven

We really enjoyed our stay at Hilltop Haven! It had all the comforts of home in a beautiful remote setting. The cabin was cozy while still having plenty of room for our family. Big South Fork was an amazing place to explore! Some of the hot tub jets were not working but we still enjoyed a soak here and there. The fire pit was great for a campfire and smores. Having two bathrooms was great as well. We never ran out of hot water with 5 adults and a child often wanting to shower at the same time. The place was mostly clean. My husband sprayed down the deck and there was a random pile of sawdust in one of the bedrooms when we arrived. We just swept it up. No big deal. Kathy was a great communicator anytime we needed anything. Beds were comfortable. All in all it was a great stay! Thank you!!

Out in the woods

Great property out in the woods! My wife, brother, and I enjoyed our short stay over a weekend. The cabin is stocked with the basics and very clean. Steep final drive up on the hill that is thankfully asphalt. Any car can make it but the road gets pretty bumpy in places due to some road washout. Google took us to the address just fine on our phones, but no reception once you are out of the city. Kathy was great with communication and answering our questions. Overall, a great weekend.

Great little cabin in the woods

Just a like all places there are pros and cons to this cabin. It is nice and secluded which made us comfortable letting the kids roam around the property on their own, but it also made it difficult to get to. We have a 12 passenger van which was a bit tricky on wet gravel, but we made it! Walking in, it’s really small but then you find the bedrooms and basement and that cramped feeling goes away. The ping pong and foosball tables kept the kids from under foot while we unpacked, which was super helpful. Luckily there was a crockpot because I prepped my dinners, but forgot mine! The hot tub was old and dingy but was still nice to relax in. All in all, a great little weekend getaway!

Too much delayed maintenance

The roof leaks and leaves dirty brown spots on the floor in the second floor bathroom. The toilet in that bathroom wobbles on an out of level floor. There are serious water stains on the ceiling over the shower on first floor. And the hot tub lid is dilapidated and saturated with absorbed water making it too heavy to move safely. No handrail on stairs to the second floor - not a maintenance issue, but a safety consideration. The manager was nice. House was clean except for the leak and the chair next to fire place was dusty. The house was originally nice. It needs maintenance. We appreciated the four beds and the location is fabulous!

Social Distanced Getaway

The cabin was very secluded. Short drive to Big South Fork area for hiking. Hot tub was a nice bonus. The cabin is a little tired and needs some maintenance and a deep cleaning. Refrigerator doors did not want to shut. Ceiling fans on the porch were wobbly and noisy. Wood ceiling in the downstairs bathroom was seeping and dripping into the bathtub due to no ventilation. There were lots of mouse droppings in the cabinets, and we dealt with gnats in the kitchen all week and never could figure out where they were coming from (all food was sealed and trash kept outside but still didn’t help). Size and location of the cabin was great, however because of the issues noted I feel it is a bit overpriced.

Beautiful Cabin that needs some TLC….

First of all, the cabin is beautiful. BUT..needs som e TLC. We really appreciated all of the cut wood for the fireplace. We arrived to a very dusty and hairy cabin. I do not believe it had been cleaned prior to our arrival as it should have been. Just me walking across the floors collected the entire bottom of my socks with what looked to be golden retriever dog hairs. The GRILL CAUGHT ON FIRE due to an overwhelming amount of grease in the base of it while I was simply cooking three small hamburgers. Thank GOD we were able to put it out with several pots of water. Because the FIRE extinguisher on the main level have been used prior to our stay and was empty. The fireplace was filled with a load of ash. My husband had to clean it out before we could even start a fire. The last folks that had stayed left it completely full of ash to where it was actually out of the fire place on spilling over the rock ledge to the floor. We only stayed in the bedroom on the main level. But I did have to wash the bedding prior to using it. There were yellow stains all over the blankets and they smelled soiled. We also had to figure out how to use the outside water Spicket, broken, so that we could turn on the water to fill the hot tub as it was very low when we arrived. As to the concern of the cabins maintenance. You do have some gutters that are laying on the ground, ripped screens, Broken water Spicket outside. Pots and pans need addressed inside the cabin for cooking. There was not enough to prepare all ingredients for a meal. And finally, we had forgotten some things at the property and was only about 30 minutes away when we realized so. We called and they let the cleaning ladies know that we would be back. (As they were there when we had departed. Which was 11:15am). When I arrived back, I asked for the two unopened Starbucks coffee cans in the refrigerator and was told they had thrown them away. I did retrieve the other item that I had went back for but I do feel that I was lied to by the cleaning crew as those were brand new and I find it very unlikely for someone to just throw them out. To say the least, we were very disappointed with this. We tried to make the best of it considering it was our seven year wedding anniversary. I needed to inform you of this as it is not some thing that should go unnoticed. I did leave the cabinet in much better shape than when we arrived. I had to clean most of

First Impression

First impression was not so great. The screens are torn on the porch, the outdoor furniture was rusty and dirty. Some small changes would make a big difference. Shower curtain was mildewed and towels smelled of mildew. Just a few dollars for a liner and some bleach would solve those problems. It is a well stocked kitchen and the game room in the basement was great. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Just a few small changes would make it amazing.

Relaxing time on a secluded location!

We were looking for a secluded location to spend some family time and this cabin was perfect for that! Peace of mind in the midlle of the forest... there is no people around, so it is very secluded indeed. We were at 30 min to an hour from any outdoor activities (we did some horseback riding at the Big Souht Fork National Park) and went for a Riverboat lunch in Knoxville (about hour and a half from cabin). Ammenities were just fine with games, grill, fire pit, hot tube and a relaxing deck. Cabin cleaning could have been a little better but nothing that would not make us come back. I really recommend for people looking for some relaxing private location.
