Short Birthday Trip for a Concert at the Saenger Theatre
Under the Oaks wasn’t my first pick for this trip, but ended up being an ideal choice. Our stay was in condo 1D, ground floor to the left when facing the building. Solid brick construction, strong window locks, and double entry gave me a reassuring sense of security. Other tenants were friendly. Safe seeming neighborhoodThe property’s exterior & interior matched the photos perfectly. Both have appealing character. The balcony has ample space. It opens into the bedroom. The live oaks lining Gov Street in front of the balcony are fascinating and are a highlight of the area. Situated in the historic district, the neighborhood boasts intriguing old homes among convenient amenities such as an Aldi, a classic grocery store, garden center, and fast food options. It’s a pleasant area to explore on foot, but note, it scored 61 out of 100 for walkability due to sidewalk anomalies. Parking is available off-street behind the building. Enclosed by fencing, but as expected, no gate. The well-lit lot felt secure to me as a woman.Inside, we thought the condo to be prettier than the pictures of it. Furnishings and carpets are well coordinated. The walls and woodwork appeared to be freshly painted. Two TVs and wi-fi. Charming “diamond” doorknobs. Good water pressure in the shower. The kitchen is small, w limited counter space, an apt-sized dishwasher, and stove, but very workable. Huge fridge. Everything in the condo is up-to-date, operational, and sparkling.Would stay again.
