Christmas in Connecticut

Lovely, antique home with an early Wolf stove that is extraordinary. It is well equipped, with a good bed and linens. We so enjoyed our return to Connecticut for Christmas and were welcomed with a gentle snow. While freezing outside, it was warm and cozy inside. If you visit, take in the Bluebird Inn up the road for breakfast. This is very much the iconic Connecticut home. Enjoy!

Not as described

This home is extremely old with nothing updated. There was a musty smell, the furniture was old and ratty, only one small tv in the den and the staircase banister was hanging off the hinges. The only nice part of this house is the grounds.

Lovely Easton Farmhouse

Erle is a wonderful host and the property manager was very responsive. We enjoyed being back in our "old neighborhood" and we liked the access to town and the main roadways. We enjoyed the historical nature of the home and the beautiful grounds.

Holiday escape

This old historical farmhouse was a perfect winter holiday experience for our family! The town of Westport was festive with great shops and restaurants in town center., being only a few miles out was the best country small town feel with horses and great hiking trails .

Peaceful Farmhouse

Peaceful home set on a beautiful tree lined property that boarders along a rushing stream. This is the best time of the year to enjoy this home with the fall foliage. We enjoyed the extensive book collection, art work, cozy kitchen, and great views of the property seen from every room. Property Manager was quick to respond to our needs. Enjoyed Silverman's farm and Norwalk Maritime Museum which is nearby. Would highly recommend the Perry House for a unique experience and relaxing stay.

wonderful stay

Very comfortable house in a simply gorgeous area of Connecticut. Huge trees and rushing streams at every turn. I loved cooking in this kitchen with its vintage Wolf stove. It's the best of both worlds here, with the pastoral scenery all around and close proximity to NYC. There are great groceries and take-out in nearby Fairfield, especially at Nordic Fish if you want high quality, fresh seafood to cook. Really appreciated, too, the caretaker who walked us through the house and patiently explained how everything worked -- very pleasant fellow. We were here for 9 nights and wished it had been for more. Drove into Manhattan twice, surprisingly easy and quick (1 hr 15-30 min) if you go at the right time. We also enjoyed hiking on nearby trails and just hanging out in the charming house, relaxing on the porch.

Bucolic relaxation

We New Yorkers wanted to spend the summer in a relaxing, walkable environment, far from the city after enduring the spring of COVID lockdown. This farmhouse was a most welcome respite. Erle and her manager Sandy were wonderful. The farmhouse is special; it has an interesting history and comes with every amenity needed for long or short stays. We took long country walks, took beautiful photos of dragonflies and flowers, and made extravagant meals in the well appointed kitchen. I imagine all seasons are beautiful there and the babbling Aspetuck River adds to the relaxing, restorative environment. Thank you Erle and Sandy for a wonderful summer.

Summer Rental

I had a great summer in the Perry House. Beautiful location and great area!! In addition, the property manager was readily available (although I only had one question) and the landlord couldn't have been nicer. They both remained in touch just to be sure my stay was going well. Thanks again!!

Lovely historic home, cozy rooms, beautiful River running through property. Would definitely return!

The owner is super nice & will respond immediately to any concerns or needs. The home is well appointed making you feel right at home. There’s a sweet little breakfast/lunch place a mile down the wooded road along a Country Club golf course which we enjoy walking to. A quaint country setting, but within a few miles you’ll find gas, garage, post office, coffee shop, country store. Parks with nature trails are all around you! We frequented the charming town of Westport less than 15 min. away with a world class theatre, lots of nice shops, restaurants & specialty grocery stores. There we would access the highway as well as the train station to New York City. It’s a 25 min. drive to the Norwalk Maritime Museum & the hip Sono area just for starters! We had a wonderful time at the Perry House for the second time & recommend it highly.

Outstanding...

I've had an extended stay at the Orlando Perry House and have had nothing but the best experience. Erle the owner and her on site agent Sandy were each very responsive to all queries and requests I had upon moving in. Once settled in, the home has been a wonderful place in which to live. The home is clean and comfortable with all necessary items including bedding easily identifable. The setting is among the most beautiful I've seen and very convenient to both Fairfield and Westport with all their restaurants and train to NYC. Also I've enjoyed the local hiking in both Easton and Weston. Nothing but positives to say - I've stayed in several extended stay rentals on home away and Air BNB and this is among the nicest. Wholehearted recommend.

Our family of four had the pleasure of calling the Orando Perry House home for four months. From the moment we walked through the door, it was quickly evident that Erle prepared the home to make our stay as comfortable as possible. From having the bare necessities in the kitchen (coffee, oil, vinegar, et.) to the necessities in the bathrooms ( shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, etc.). Any questions or suggestions we had regarding our needs or comforts, Erle responded within 48 hours via email and was open to new ideas and always working things out to making our comfort her priority. The bedrooms were fresh and welcoming. There was plenty of firewood for us to use in the fireplace,,,, and believe me we did! We had the pleasure of watching the garden bloom to the degree that we assisted and invested ourselves in the maintenance of the beautiful garden. There is no way you could not invest yourself in this property once you experienced the history, joy, and beauty of it. You can fish in the back yard for your dinner, relax on a romantic stone bench by the river, or just sit by one of the many flower beds. We were very sorry to leave and often still drive by to check on the property. I recommend it HIGHLY!!

House in need of cleainng and maintenance.

First, I've contacted the owner about all the issues but received no response, the people she left in charge were not able to assist either. On arrival, the house was dirty and dusty all over, with cobwebs and dust over all lamps and surfaces, dust bunnies on the floors. Dead flowers on the table and dishes that all had to be rewashed. Granted that the house is old, but most of the plush furniture is soiled and in need of repairs. Then we discovered small pieces of broken glass all over the coffee table. Turns out there also was broken glass on the rug in the dining room, I stepped on it and injured my foot. The owner left the number for the cleaning lady, I called her describing the condition of the house and she said that she cleaned the house 6 months ago and not since. All the bedding was old and stained, I do hope it was washed before we got there. The owner said that before we were getting there she was fixing a leak from upstairs bathroom into the kitchen and assured me it's all going to be fixed and mold remediated, Guess what, when we used upstairs bathroom, the water leaked into the kitchen - MOLD! and I specifically expressed concern about that. That was not all, a couple of days after we arrived, we started having prolonged periods of time with no water at all, so you could not take shower in the morning and could not predict when it would appear again and if it would. We called the man she left in charge, he said he'll call plumber to fix it - but no luck. We came to CT to spend time with family and to relax not to clean and maintain someone elses house after paying good money. We travel extensively utilizing VRBO, this is by far the worst experience we've ever had. At least if we were in a place where there were issues, owners were always very responsive about fixing it and making it right.

Perfect place for a Family Rreunion

It would be hard to find a more lovely and historic setting to reunite 4 generations than this Connecticut home. From the moment you step out of your car you feel at home. The feeling continues as you move into Erle's magical house. The lovely entry, the delightful kitchen, looking towards the "Old Toy Factory" across the road, the large living room and the cozy den provide places for families to either be together or separate for reading and other activities. This property has a large yard with a river running through it and plenty of room to roam or just sit and enjoy the sounds and sights of the Connecticut country side. If you look into the history of the neighborhood you will discover even more things to make your stay memorable. Thank you Erle for providing such a wonderful place for our family reunion.

Such a lovely home!

Our family enjoyed a wonderful stay in Erle's sweet farmhouse for 3 weeks while we were relocating. Erle has created a really cosy, comfortable home, fully equipped with everything you can possibly need for a relaxing stay. We felt very welcome, like visiting family! The weather was great so the children enjoyed swimming in the stream and playing in the garden. We loved the convenience of farm fresh eggs from around the corner and enjoyed exploring the Aspetuck Land Trust hiking trails in the area. Thank you Erle for making our stay so memorable!
