Three 60s and four 30s

Enjoyed family time with our adult kids, hiking into starved rock, access just across the highway!!! Lots of eating out and fun to visit in your home!

Great place

The unit was comfy & cozy. We felt at home. It was also clean & the kitchen is fully stocked with just about anything you need for cooking. Beds were comfortable. At night there wasn't a sound to be heard. Very peaceful. We will definitely come back in the future.

Great Stay

Very disappointed

Unfortunately this stay was not what we expected. To start off, our first issue was the cleanliness of the unit. Our weekend getaway was planned to celebrate our little ones 7th birthday. Because of some health issues recently , we decided to do something small and just get out of the city for a bit. I chose this unit because it had a jacuzzi in the main room. The plan was to make it his room and let him have the tub and just have some silly fun. When we turned on the water, it kept coming out dark grey. Soon after we realized that the Jets themselves had mold. We attempted to clean them ourselves , but they were just too dirty. I contacted the property manager about the issue , who first told me that the tub and Jets are cleaned after every visit. I then sent him photos and told him the mold would state otherwise. He THEN replied that he just saw his wife clean the Jets last months. So which is it? Are they cleaned after every stay, or by his wife once a month? Either way , mold takes a little bit of time to grew , and the tub/Jets haven’t been cleaned for a long time. Our kids also found a random dirty sock in one of the toy baskets. Lastly , the sofa bed has a sign that says do not open. Which means two of our guest had to sleep on the bedroom floor. Which is absolutely not okay , because the listing says the sofa bed counts as a sleeping area. It’s not okay that the tub and one of the beds were not of use, and the property manager wasn’t concerned with my issues.

A Home Away From Home

Grand Bear Resort was a perfect place for my family and I! We had privacy and plenty of room for everyone in my family to eat home-cooked meals, play games, and sleep comfortably. The children had a great time riding their scooters outside and playing put-put at the miniature golf course. It was quiet and beautiful, and Bernie was very helpful and kind. I would love to come and stay again! Thank you!

Great Vacay!

We had an awesome weekend , hiking and relaxing at the cabin. The cabin was exactly what we had wanted! An absolute treat to be so close to the hiking trails and being able to go back to the cabin to relax.

Perfect Winter Getaway

We had an absolutely wonderful time staying at this property! We were looking for a quick winter getaway close to home and this was the perfect spot. It is so close to both Starved Rock State Park and Matthiessen State Park. We went on several gorgeous winter hikes to see some beautiful frozen waterfalls in the canyons of these parks and this house was a nice and cozy oasis to return to at the end of the day. There was plenty of room for our small family and the kitchen was well stocked to prepare a nice warm meal after a day in the snow and ice. Check in and check out were both smooth and easy and our host was very helpful and always available to answer any of our questions. We would definitely stay here again and we plan to return in the spring and summer months for more outdoor adventures!

Great space near excellent hiking

We’ve been to the area many times. This is a great place to stay a few nights and enjoy the charm. The pull out couch was not working which should be mentioned as people planned to use that as a bed.

Great location, nice comfy place

Well-kept unit super close to Starved Rock and other parks. Short drive to great dining and bars in Utica. Being an end unit provided extra natural light and was a bonus. Would recommend to friends who wanted to spend a few days in the area and have that extra space and convenience of a full kitchen.

Woodside Retreat

We had a relaxing stay. The property was just as described. We could have used some additional kitchen utensils and garbage bags, but overall, our stay was very nice. The property manager was available and responded quickly with any questions we had. We will stay in this area again.

Pleasant stay

We’ve stayed on the property before, but this was our first time at this unit. It was a pleasant experience from start to finish and everything was clean and in order. The property managers were also friendly and helpful.
