Great vacation; disappointing hospitality
Our family had a wonderful few weeks together enjoying everything that the Tamarindo area has to offer. The house was very comfortable. The pool was the perfect activity for all and Santa found the children. There is so much anger and ugliness in our world these days that I dislike a need to criticize. We had some unsettling confrontation with the owner of the property. Perhaps there are reasons we are unaware of that she is struggling with and we took the brunt of her unhappiness. Sad.Communication was generally unfriendly. We broke glass on the coffee table just as we were departing and we fully intended to pay for replacement. But we were then falsely accused of other damages. I filed a dispute with VRBO but, as expected, they sided with their client. I do not want to ruin my memories of a fun vacation with my family due to this owner’s malfeasance. The remodel mostly consisted of a fresh coat of paint inside and out. Half of the yard is basically unusable due to the addition of a rock surface and painful to walk on. The bedrooms are in dire need of new mattresses and pillows. Linens are tired and there is need of mattress pads. We covered with notepaper the cameras that are in every room. There is need for outdoor building maintenance. Twice we had fascia boards fall from the roof into the pool area which was concerning. None of these problems for us were taken into consideration when the owner filed claims against us. Very sad ending.
