Location great but needs a serious update

The lakeside location is gorgeous. The house is literally on the water. But the owners have obviously not renovated in decades. One bed smelled so badly of mold we couldn’t use it and all of the linens and blankets were ratty and worn out. They didn’t seem clean. Also the price was not cheap and they didn’t supply enough toilet paper, gave us one garbage bag for a 3 night stay and no towels. This place could be great if someone put some money into it.

Great family home

We enjoyed 5 days on the lake with our kids and dogs. The house is on the lake and the dogs swam endlessly. We brought paddle boards and enjoyed the calm cove and quiet lake to paddle on. There was a nice trail close by to walk the dogs on. The house had everything we needed.

Perfect getaway

My family had an amazing time! The boys caught alot of fish including a northern pike! We kayaked the beautiful lake (there is one kayak there) and we brought ours as well. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. The lake was very quiet not many big boats maybe one or two a day. We met the next door neighbor who are very sweet and friendly. We will for sure want to come back not only because of how peaceful and great it was but we had a proposal here as well!

Great lakeside stay!

Great spot on the lake and fantastic views from the bedrooms! Clean, well equipped cabin. Surprised to learn (thankfully in advance) that towels were not provided, although it seems this is common practice in this area. Easy communication with owner. Conveniently located just off the main road while still private.

Waters Edge

We stayed for two weeks and had up and down weather. A lot of rain fell over our two weeks. Never a day that was a complete wash out but close to it. The lake was beautiful and we had fun kayaking. The furniture in the living area is not very comfortable and with the rain we had to stay indoors more than we would have liked. Also doing laundry was a bit of a challenge with the stipulations. Just took longer. All in all we would stay here again.

Family Reunion

Overall, the boat house was lovely and on the water was a plus. The outside property was well maintained. I would have liked to have a different coffee maker as the one provided was confusing and took some learning. I would also have liked elimination of fleas on the bottom of the sliding door. Finally, I would have preferred to have kayaks provided rather than having to spend hundreds of dollars more to have them provided and delivered.

Perfect location!

Great spot to enjoy the ADK's from! Despite hitting a rainy week, we were out hiking and kayaking every day, sometimes for most of the day. It is particularly nice to be able to kayak right from your house to "the outback" - that is places without motorboats, houses, etc. Spacious place with big kitchen with table and lots of spots to settle down in a comfortable spot with views of the lake. Very comfortable bed, too :).

Even better than expected

What a gem! The pictures really don't do it justice, Right on the water, easy access for launching kayaks, canoes or just going for a swim. The beds are so comfortable and loved the ensuite bathroom in the master bedroom. We had 8 adults and stayed for a wonderful week. Weather was good every day except 1 but Lake Placid is only 30 minutes so it's easy to escape a rainy day. Loved hearing and seeing the loons every day, so many loons!! Overall great place. Highly recomended, just wish it was a shorter drive for us!

Great Location

Great location for our New Year's trip. The house was spacious and perfect for our group of 6. The location was close to winter activities so we will going back again. Perfect location for a warm weather trip also especially if you have a kayak, canoe or boat.

Thanksgiving

This home could not be closer to the lake. We had a lovely thanksgiving. The unexpected snowstorm was magical and made the beautiful fireplace shine even brighter. Our small children adored the three twin bed room. I would love to see this property in the summer!

Family Vacation

The house is the perfect size for our family. Everyone had plenty of room to gather and get private space for quiet and nap times. When we got stuck in the driveway (snow happens) someone was there very quickly to plow and sand to make sure we could get out.

Beautiful house on the lake

We enjoyed our vacation in this spacious house. Views of the lake are beautiful- location is perfect if you want to be away from crowded places but still close enough to Lake Placid. Kitchen has everything you will need.

Beautiful Location

Beautiful location with a lot of property for lake front. Fishing was very good caught many nice perch, bass and small northern pike. We did catch fish off the deck but we had better luck in the canoe. The lake is beautiful, if you have a power boat you could tie up right to the house. The place was clean but could use some updating. The stove wouldn't boil water. The furniture was tired and saggy. The beds were comfortable. The house is roomy. We enjoyed the fire pit nightly. The chairs at the point was a nice place for morning coffee or to just relax and take in the view. We had a nice time it a great location with a great view. 30 minutes to Lake Placid. I would recommend Donnelley's Ice cream on state route 86 about 5-10 minutes away. Great soft ice cream. Just one flavor a day, strange but delicious. There's always people there, which tipped me off that it had to be good.

Awesome house on Rainbow Lake

We rented the house for 3 days between Xmas and NYears 2016. It was a winter wonderland. The house is fantastic with a master bedroom with bath downstairs and 3 bedrooms with a bathroom and shower upstairs and a 3rd bathroom downstairs. This is great for a family reunion. We had 7 in our party including my son, two young grandsons, my daughter and her boyfriend, and me and my wife. We loved cooking in the kitchen, enjoyed the fireplace, views of the lake, and everything worked and the place was well supplied with necessary kitchen and other equipment. Even had a couple of snow shovels for the walk. We spent time doing a 500 piece puzzle, playing games, reading, and enjoying each others company. A few of us went for a walk and we couldn't find the trail, probably because it was snow covered. If we had more time we might have done some snow shoeing or other winter activities. I took my 11 year old grandson to Lake Placid, about a 20 minute drive, and we went dog sledding, to the Olympic museum, and he had pumpkin ice cream! The tubing was shut down at the nearby Pisgah Ski slope due to ice. There are plenty of places to buy supplies in Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. We ordered pizza one night and went to the Mexican Restaraunt, Casa del Sol, which was fantastic! The only regret was that we didn't have the full week to enjoy the house and the area. And being right on the lake we would love to come back in the summer.

Very nice property on the water

We enjoyed our stay at the property, especially the proximity to the water and the quiet! Everything in the house worked and the condition was as advertised. The main drawback to our booking was the fees added . Cleaning fees, homeaway fees, mandatory insurance etc. I dont mind paying for a nice house on the water, but I felt gouged after all the fees add up.

Co-owners for 11 years. We lived in our sweet home for 4 years prior to a major renovation to the house itself. We took our home to a year-round rental in July, 2009 and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learning about our yearly new and returning renters. Currently we reside year round in New Hampshire with the exception of the few weeks we enjoy at our house during the various seasons. It is our respite, our quiet, tranquil, relaxing get away from the hustle & bustle of suburban life. We love it here & we know you will too!

Why they chose this property

Quiet, peaceful private lake.

What makes this property unique

What we truly love about our home is the sunsets from our waterfront deck or walking out to our point on our 3.75 acres for conversation, a beverage, the breeze, and the sun set!
On a crisp morning, the steam arising off the lake is breath-taking.
No sunset or early morning sunrise is ever the same. The northern lights are incredible. A starry night lying on the deck to watch the shooting stars is a show in itself.
And lest we forget to mention the waterfowl, the baby ducklings in the spring, the beavers, the otters, and the incredible loons with their eerie calls. We've been fortunate enough to see a baby loon with his very protective parents; it was beautiful!!
