About this property

Tranquil Mid Century Guest House in Sierra Madre

** 8 YEAR // 5 STAR LOCATION ON OTHER SITES. NEW TO VRBO NOV 2024!

This is that place that will transform you.

Beautiful garden setting. Quiet tree lined streets. Take hikes in our mountains. Write your novel or polish that work project so it is ready for the big debut. More than 50% of people stay here so they can power babysit those local grand kids.

The walls consist of beautifully restored casement windows on two sides of the unit. Bright and airy if you want it that way. Or pull the blinds and you're in a dark cocoon. Your choice!

The space:

Completely renovated with meticulous care, you're sure to be pleased and most importantly able to focus on whatever your trip plans demand: Rest, Relaxation, or Business. Always updated with new paint, constant carpet cleaning, and new furniture. The walls consist of two-thirds beautifully restored casement windows on two sides of the unit. Bright and airy if you want it that way. Or pull the blinds and you're in a dark cocoon. Your choice!

If you don't know Sierra Madre, you will never forget it. One of the last small bastions of peace in Southern California.

In addition to providing coffee for the Keurig coffee machine, we stock the fridge with water and other drinks, but let us know what you need. We're happy to put something together.

This unit has a small and compact European style bath and kitchen that provides a comfortable place to stay, whether it's a day or a month.

There are two small dogs on property, but they never go into the unit nor do they interact with guests.

Guest access:

The space is entirely private with its own entrance. You will be emailed or texted the door lock code before arrival.

Other things to note:

We know this will be a place you return to time and time again.

One small, but important note: There is absolutely no cigarette or cigar smoking, vaping of any kind, or cannabis smoking or other drug use on the property. You should not book this property if you think that will be a problem or if you intend to smoke or use drugs away from the suite and bring back any lingering odors/effects as these things are very difficult to remove from linens, walls, and carpet.

Thank you for understanding.

About the host

Host profile image
I am a Californian now by way of Texas, New York, and a bit of Boston. More years here than there. We are family types with kids in high school and college. We spend a lot of time at our place at the beach in Newport. We enjoy wine and charcutterie and time out with friends.

Why they chose this property

Sierra Madre is the hidden gems of all gems. No one in LA knows us and that's a good thing.

What makes this property unique

We have a unique mid-century modern home built in 1948. Lots of history and beautiful, thoughtful construction that will be here for centuries to come.
