Quiet Country Visit

I was looking for quiet location to spend the holidays with my aging pets while visiting family. The lodge did not dissapoint. While equipt for larger family get togethers, it was a welcome woodsy getaway just minutes from wonderful restaurants and things to do and see in Nacogdoches.

Peaceful Getaway

This was an amazing getaway for us, the cabin was like a museum and would love to hear some of the stories linked to these items displayed. We had everything we need and more! Enjoyed some of the local lakes and fishing and dining options. Very nice and looking forward to renting this one again.

Kim and Angie, thank you so much for providing a warm and wonderful place to stay while in Texas. Your animals were so amazing!! What more could you ask for? It felt like a home away from home. Where is the lake?

Disappointed that the lake is under construction and has been drained! View and fishing bill, not what we had hoped for! A real hunting lodge! Too many animal heads to count!

Spectacular hidden gem

This property is the cream of the crop! Fascinating lodge decor, spectacular game room, very comfortable beds, and it was clean!! This is very important to me as I’m a bare foot no shoes wearing person. I never had dirt on my feet from walking around the place!! I love that! I just wish we knew about this place years ago!

A peaceful place - good for the soul

Our family of four stayed in the Hunter's Cabin for the week of Christmas 2017. It far exceeded our expectations! From the moment we entered the property we knew we were in for a treat. The cabin is nestled in the woods and sits on a hill that overlooks a beautiful lake. The decor of the cabin reflects the fun and passion of the owners, including many hunting trophies, tributes to God, Country, Family and, of course, Elvis. The highlight was waking up every morning to find deer, elk & horses right out front - enjoying the deer corn that we sprinkled for them. The owners live on-property and were very friendly and responsive to a couple of questions we had. We would definitely stay again!

Nice and peacefull

Stayed for 1 week Aug. 2018. really enjoyed the stay. Nice clean cottage, fully stocked. Owner was nice. Peace and Quiet. Country atmosphere with lots of wildlife horses deer and cattle. Good fishing on the lake lots of Bass and Brim. 2 johnboats available to paddle around on the lake. Only downside was the cell phone signal was spotty at best, depending on you're provider. Actually not bad if you're wanting to unplug and enjoy the country. Look forward to staying again, may try during the winter really nice fire pit I would enjoy sitting around the fire on a cold night.

Hunting cabin

I really liked the concept; however, the host lacks attention to detail. We were given one roll of toilet paper that looked like it had a pee stain all the way through on one side. There were no paper towels other than a giant roll of brown paper. All of the hand soap dispensers were broken or empty, and we were left with a used hotel bar of soap. No dish soap, no lighter to start a campfire (the one they had was empty). One sponge and one rag. One of the pillows was missing a pillow case. There is a water leak from the kitchen that pools in front of the toilet. Very cluttered and so dusty my eyes were swollen. Lots of bees/wasps making nests on porch ceiling. Porch and chairs were covered in pollen. Yard guy was raking leaves our first morning around the porch and didn’t leave when I sat out there to drink coffee and listen to nature. The pool table is missing a ball. Absolutely no internet or cable and only two dvds (Elvis and Hunt for Red October). Kitchen is not well equipped. No ice available. Freezer is so full there was no room for our ice packs and bag of ice. Take a quick shower cause hot water drains in about 5 min. Very disappointed for how much we spent. Owner only responds to one message at a time and not quickly. Owner should not rent if they are not willing to make guests more comfortable.

Great Place for a quiet hideaway

Pictures does not do this place justice. If you are looking to escape your every day life and go where no one can find you this is your place. Every time you walked inside the shack you seen something different and entertaining. Sunrises and sunsets was very relaxing. The owners made us very welcomed. I would definitely consider going back in the spring or fall.

Cabin in the woods

Beautiful and quiet location. Roomy living room area with comfy furniture. We loved the game room! It was overall a great place for us to spend time with our son who is attending SFA. Our main complaint is the cleanliness. There were many cobwebs throughout the cabin and the coffee pot had a used moldy coffee filter in it. Also, the bathroom could use better lighting for the shower. It was very dark in that corner. And the toilet was not properly anchored to the floor. It was very loose.

Great family getaway

We had a great experience in the hunters cabin. The Crisp's were excellent host even though we only gave them a days notice. We love seeing the family of deer that walked by the cabin every evening. Just a very relaxing experience.
