About this property

Large 4-Bedroom Riverfront Apartment in 1850 Barn. Close to Skiing, Hiking

This barn was built in 1850 and converted into apartments in 1985. This unit is large, about 1800sf, and is in one half of the barn on the 2nd and 3rd floors (the other two apartments are on the other side. There's also plenty of sound proofing throughout). Nice deck overlooking the Lamoille River with river access for fishing or snow tubing and 15 minutes from Smugglers Notch ski resort. 45 minutes from Burlington, 40 minutes from the Canadian border. It’s also on the VAST trail.

The main floor features a large master bedroom with full bath connected. Large kitchen with large dining table. Upstairs and to the left is large game room/living room with pool table, sectional sofa and Roku tv, half bath and small bedroom with a double bed. Up the stairs and to the right are two more bedrooms (one bunk bed and one queen) with a 3/4 bath at the end of the hall. Ground floor has space for skis and any other storage. Also includes a coin op washer dryer.

NOTE: In the Winter the Notch Rd is closed due to snow so a trip to Stowe would be about an hour trip. During the Summer the Notch Rd is open and is a beautiful and interesting trip to Stowe.

About the host

Host profile image
My name is Sean and my wife Maria and I have been married since 1998. We have two daughters in their early 20s. I'm originally from Massachusetts and Maria s is from Montreal (speaks French and Italian) and have been living in Vermont since we got married. We've been hosting on VRBO since 2017 with another property. We love helping people create memories. That's what we love most about hosting.

Why they chose this property

We love the fact this property is on the Lamoille River making it perfect for tubing, fishing or swimming in the warmer months. We also love that it's about 15 minutes from Smuggler's Notch ski area, on the VAST trail, and close to lots of hiking trails.

What makes this property unique

This property is super unique. It's a barn, built in 1850, that was converted into a triplex in 1985. The best part are the hand hewn barn beams throughout. When you look at the beams and realize they are hand hewn and put in place by hand (no saw mills, no cranes) and that they're 175 years old it's quite remarkable.
