New Year’s Getaway

We spent a long weekend with some friends and their kids in this lovely cabin. The kids had a space of their own in the basement as us adults hung out upstairs. The beds were comfy and we were nice and cozy! Would recommend this place for future stays.

I’m Sam, your host, from the Oshkosh, WI area. My husband Dusty (who also hosts with me) and I love spending time outdoors with our two kids and two dogs, whether we’re hiking, UTVing, or relaxing by the fire. Our visits to the Smoky Mountains—where we’ve made great memories in the woods and mountain cabins—inspired us to create a similar experience at the Smoky Trail Cabin. We’re excited to share it with you and hope it feels like a place you’ll want to come back to again and again.

Why they chose this property

We chose this location for its access to outdoor adventures and family-friendly amenities year-round. In addition to UTV trails and segments of the Ice Age Trail, the area offers great options for both summer and winter fun. Families will enjoy nearby Summit Lake Park, which features a sandy beach for swimming, picnic areas, and playgrounds. In winter, the park becomes a peaceful spot for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing. Jack Lake, another great spot nearby, has a beach in warmer months and offers winter activities like ice fishing and hiking. For snowmobiling enthusiasts, the area is a popular destination when the snow flies, with trails that connect to a larger network in the region, making it a perfect spot for winter off-road adventures. Whether you’re hiking, UTVing, soaking up the sun at a local beach, or hitting the snowmobile trails, there’s something for everyone here.

What makes this property unique

What makes Smoky Trail Cabin special is its blend of rustic log cabin charm and modern convenience, creating a space that’s both comfortable and inviting. With its authentic log construction, exposed beams, and a cozy loft, the cabin feels like a classic “up north” retreat. Family-friendly features like board games, cards, and smart TVs ensure fun and relaxation for all ages, while the fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to share meals and create memories together.

Outside, the large fire pit is a favorite spot for unwinding and enjoying the peaceful surroundings, whether you’re roasting marshmallows or simply stargazing. Warm and welcoming in any season, Smoky Trail Cabin provides everything you need for a memorable getaway—whether you’re adventuring nearby or spending time together indoors.
