About this property

FARINHA DE PAU - Eco B&b - Natural Meal

Farinha de Pau - Eco Project is a project developed based on the philosophy of permaculture, which seeks a sustainable and harmonious with the environment. We are a nonprofit organization, where we rented some rooms as a source of financing for our projects, included in the Rural Tourism model.

When you visit us, you can enjoy great family moments, experience the beauty of São Nicolau Island, and will be collaborating with this wonderful project that never stops evolving.

We are a green family and love to get people interested in knowing this integrated life model for the environment. I'm Sergio Machado, Brazilian, Yoga teacher and Chiropractor, and I live in Cape Verde since 2006, my mate Simone, daughter of the earth, São Nicolau is an exceptional cook, which seeks the best natural ingredients for meals; and our two sons, Leonel (6) and Naomi (1) giving special glow to the house.

We became permacultures about three years, and everything around us is seen as an opportunity to recycle and transform in order to avoid waste and make our planet a better place. Our desire is to show people that there can be sustainable development without causing negative impacts on nature and live in perfect harmony.
Today, we not only produce our house, through the Natural Building, as well as teaching people about how to do it in order to enable them and motivate them to build their own homes in this model.
We have training in Natural Construction area, and our apprentices can spend the morning in the formations, and take advantage of the afternoon to know the charms of São Nicolau Island.

RURAL TOURISM and ecological
Rural tourism or agritourism is a tourism modality that aims to allow everyone a more direct and genuine contact with nature, agriculture and local traditions by hosting home in rural, family atmosphere.

THE FOOD
Cape Verde is a volcanic archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic, and has different species of fish, plus the volcanic soil that produces delicious vegetables.
In Farinha de Pau we try to use only organic food of the island, to prepare a mix of local and Brazilian recipes, using creativity to offer our customers something special. Never use chemical flavors like Maggy or Knorr in our meals, only natural seasonings garden itself.

Yoga and massage (Nov 2016)
We are preparing a part of the house to the practice of Yoga and application of therapeutic massage with the use of Aloe Vera, clay and treatments with volcanic sand heated by the sun.
