About this property
Private Lake Placid Island Oasis Retreat
Welcome to our exclusive, brand-new lakefront home on Moose Island! Accessible only by boat, this private retreat offers 4 spacious bedrooms, a cozy fire pit, & a detached 1900's cabin by the water. Enjoy panoramic lake views from the expansive deck & make use of the boat slip, paddle boards, canoe and paddle boat for easy lake access. This unique, serene setting, is the only rental on Moose Island, promising a truly unforgettable Lake Placid experience. Perfect for families or groups seeking privacy & nature.
Located on the southernmost point of Moose Island in Lake Placid, The Point House has been in our family for over 100 years. It now features a newly constructed log-sided home with 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, a spacious modern kitchen and dining area, and a great room with a fireplace and big-screen TV.
The 2000-square-foot main house is equipped with modern conveniences, including new LG appliances, a washer and dryer, Starlink satellite internet, and big-screen TVs in the great room and master suite. The master suite has a king-size bed, ample storage, and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower and soaking tub. The second bedroom has a queen bed, the third has twin beds, and the fourth offers bunk beds.
The property boasts 270-degree views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Positioned to the south, it enjoys sunshine all day, making it one of the premier locations on the lake. The main house has a full-length deck overlooking the lake, with a covered area for enjoying the view in any weather.
Right on the water, a lovingly restored 1880s cabin features a hand-quarried granite fireplace, a ‘lofa-sofa’ that converts to a queen-size bed, a camp kitchen, and a small bathroom with a composting toilet and washbasin. This cabin can function as either a fifth bedroom or a remote office.
The rental includes a four-slip boathouse (two inside and two outside) with a party deck on top, a lakeside fire pit, gas grill, canoe, paddle boat, two paddle-boards, kayak, and firewood. A caretaker is on-call for any needs during your stay.
Access to the mainland is via a dedicated boat slip and parking space at the beautiful Whiteface Club & Resort, where guests are just a short walk from the golf course, two on-site restaurants, a grill, and tennis facilities.
The Point House comfortably sleeps 10 (including the cabin) and, being accessible only by boat, it is the perfect island getaway for families or groups who enjoy boating, privacy, and a true Adirondack wilderness experience—all with the comforts of home.

Guests have exclusive access to the entire property. Enjoy all indoor and outdoor spaces, from the main house to the restored lakefront cabin. With complete privacy, you can fully immerse yourself in the lakeside experience.

About the host
Hosted by Paul Rose

My wife and I have made our home in the beautiful desert southwest, in Tucson, AZ. We met in Amsterdam while traveling and have loved building a life together. Summers are especially cherished at our Lake Placid retreat, where we gather with friends and family. Our two young boys constantly ask, “When are we going to Lake Placid?” – a place where we’ve created countless wonderful memories together.
What makes this property unique
The Point House has been cherished by the Rose family since 1923, with four generations enjoying summers in this exceptional location. As the only rental property on Lake Placid’s Moose Island, it offers a rare, special retreat for friends and family. Situated on the southern tip of Moose Island, the Point House is one of the few camps on the lake that enjoys sunlight throughout the day.
