A wonderful stay in a wonderful cottage
We never had a single problem because Ulrissa was always ready to help us when we had a question. My kids loved the separate (two different) beaches and the cottage -- which had laundry, a full kitchen, two baths and two great bedrooms. I liked the pace of the island and the feel of being a temporary part of their island community. I would recommend this stay for a leisurely home away from home and would have stayed longer if I had the time.
We came in by private boat and ran out of daylight, and Raymond was kind enough to come rescue us from Staniel Cay with his knowledge of the local waters. They even upgraded us from the property we booked to one with more bedrooms and bathrooms that was even closer to the beach! Black Point is an amazing change of pace from Staniel Cay (much less touristy and incredibly beautiful scenery/bay), and Raymond and Ulrisa have some of the best views on the whole island. I honestly cannot express how thankful we are for Raymond and Ulrisa's hospitality and generosity, and we absolutely will be booking a trip back here again. 10000/10 stay and 1000000000/10 hosts!

The best vacation ever!!
Believe every word you read about Black Point, the Exumas, these cottages and most importantly Ulrisa and Raymond (Bread Boy) the owners. As group of 8 (2 families of 4) we rented both cottages and two of Raymond's boats for a week. Raymond set us up with David (Fat Cat) as a guide for three days of of the best exploring, lobster fishing and snorkelling we have ever experienced. The cottages we fantastic and Ulrisa had the fridge stocked and read to go upon arrival. The community of Black Point is the most friendly place you will ever visit, it's just a very special place. We will be returning for sure and I would recommend this property to anyone... Thank you Ulrisa and Raymond for sharing your home and community with us.
The property was wonderful. We actually stayed at the the blue house. The views were amazing. The entire house has been upgraded with a modern kitchen and a tiled shower. There is a stone walkway to the water. We rented a boat and went to Pig Beach (Majors Cay) and Staniel Cay Yacht Club for a day. This is a must do activity. If one is not competent at navigation a guide is a must. We rented a golf cart for a few days and found a couple amazing beaches. Sunrise on the ocean is a five minute walk and sunset from the deck was spectacular on the bay side. Town is an easy walk or golf cart ride with excellent small restaurants. Nothing fancy but good food. Overall Black Point is a wonderfully quiet place for a low key vacation. Ulrisa and Bread Boy are wonderful hosts!
The surrounding beauty of this property can not be beat. Open ocean to one side and the Caribbean blue to the other. The hosts were very responsive to any needs and the boat tour from Breadboy was amazing. Keep in mind the Island is very remote, if you are going bring with you the necessities such as hand/dish soap paper towels, etc..There are a few small stores on the island and the host did do some shopping for us before hand. If you do this remember to add in the necessities. Having the Kayaks was a huge bonus as we were able to go out everyday at high tide and see the rays, sharks and turtles. You can even paddle over to the local restaurant and have a beverage! The patio furniture was rough and falling apart, but we made due. Something to sit on down by the water at sunset was a must!
The house has the bare minimum of what you need, not luxury but the surroundings more than make up for it. We had excellent service at the restaurants and rented the golf cart for a few days, that’s all you need to get around. Overall, just a beautiful place if you like low key and natural beauty. Just remember it is very remote and any resources are a flight away.
Thank you “Rissa” and Breadboy, we will be back one day..

Exceptional Family Vacation!
We recently stayed in Raymond and Risa's yellow cottage, and I can't say enough how wonderful our vacation was! We came with our 12 and 15 year old girls, and really had no idea what it would be like. We were speechless when we arrived and saw how beautiful the location of these cottages is. The girls spent every morning in the water and running around the sand of this magical harbor. Afternoons were spent with Raymond or David on the boat until we were confident enough to take one of the Boston Whalers out on our own (which we did for the remainder of our trip). Raymond and Risa took care of everything for us, and answered every question we had. We were happy we had ordered water, beer and gatorade through them, and also glad we took their advice to fill a cooler up with food in Nassau (things that the local grocery store wouldn't have, like fresh fruit/veg and meat). We loved eating out in the village, and purchasing bread daily from Lorraine's mother. Every person we met in town was so friendly and welcoming. The unbelievable natural beauty of this area and the warmth of the people here made this vacation one of a kind. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you Raymond and Risa!!

Amazing Holiday in Black Point
My Family (Father, Sister, and I) spent our Christmas Holiday in Black Point here in Raymond (aka Breadboy) and Ulrisa's green cottage, and it was absolutely perfect. Beautiful new cottage, with plenty of room for us and everything we needed to cook. Ulrisa made sure we had all the groceries (and Kaliks) we needed for the week there when we arrived. Although we did take our golf cart into town plenty to eat at Lorraine's cafe and pick up some bread from her Mom. Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Caribbean on the other. The bay is breathtaking and perfect for snorkelling and kayaking along the coast. Saw lots of fish and rays. Be sure to hop in your golf cart and explore (Aha beach is a must). A great place to getaway from the hustle and bustle of touristy spots and just relax with the most friendly Bohemian folks you could imagine. There was even a Christmas Day potluck with all the locals and visitors! Spent one day out on the boat with Raymond, which was amazing. Saw the swimming pigs and explored the grotto and aquarium. Be sure to visit Pike Creek, beyond words. The best part is how honest and truly enthusiastic Raymond is about his hometown. Only thing we missed was an outdoor grill, but Raymond said he will be getting a new one. Ulrisa was very easy to deal with and very thorough with receipts. She was in Nassau for the holidays, but hopefully we will get to meet her the next time we go :)
Thanks again for an amazing week.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in
Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
Not a relaxing vacation after all
We left two days early... The listing description and pictures did not show the reality in multiple ways. Pictures did not show the satellite dish just outside the kitchen door, the houses that blocked the water view, the accumulated garbage out front of the house which was there during our entire stay, nor the dryer that needed to be opened using a wooden spoon because it had no handle, nor the constantly barking dogs including one that was locked up in a cage outside all day and night, and another chained outside who could not be let off because it might bite. The owners are right next door and loud, especially the husband and there were two brand new puppies taken away from their mom too early who cried and barked non-stop. I could go on and on.
Also, the owners super-charge for every additional request for outings/activities--even for drinking water--or getting to another island for dinner, etc. at prices that are outrageous and abusive.
The island is beautiful and we had some lovely times at beaches we discovered. It's really better set up for boaters who can visit and stay on their boats. Groceries are extremely limited and forget about trying to get fresh fish and produce. We would like to return perhaps one day, but would never stay in one of Raymond and Risa's properties. Apparently there are much better run options nearby.

Awesome Exuma Adventure!
We had an unforgettable 5 day adventure staying in the two bedroom two bath cottage on Black Point Cay run by Raymond and Ulrissa. They are a wonderful couple that work hard to keep their first happy. Ulrissa was always quick to answer my text.
Out the back door just steps down the stone path and you are on the water. Kayaks, a paddle board and other toys are waiting. At low tide you have a cove of sand. Out the front door and across the road is the Atlantic Ocean. The small cove holds a beautiful beach and we spent hours playing in the surf. On our last night, Raymond (Breadboy) had a bonfire made for the guest.
The cottage has internet but it was spotty at best. It seemed to work best in the early morning. We also had satellite tv and air conditioning.
Order supplies and food about two weeks ahead of time as it comes by a boat delivering island provisions. Be sure to purchase charcoal, lighter fluid and a lighter if you want to grill out. The town has two stores that have limited supplies and food.
We rented a golf cart and boat from Breadboy for the stay. My plan was to have a guide on the first day and then go off on my own. I ended up using the same guide, Roger, the entire stay. He was worth every penny as he grew up in Black Point and is knowledgeable on all the best spots and islands to see. He also put up with us going to pig island every day!
If you are looking for crowds, night life and gift shops, touristy areas, lots of restaurants....This place is not for you. If you want to stay in a pleasant cottage with some of the most beautiful beaches and bluest water you will ever see, then this is the real deal. Not to mention the excitement of iguana island, pig island, Thunderball Grotto, Compass Cay, great snorkeling, deserted beaches.....and so on, then this is the place for you!!!
Tips: rent a golf cart and boat. Order food ahead of time. Only two to three cafes of which we only ate at the pizza place the first evening, while waiting for groceries to come by boat. Get a guide, they know where to go. Bring plenty of cash in smaller bills. Order toilet paper, you only get one roll per bathroom. Bring sundries, seasoning, bug spray. HAVE FUN!!!

OUR BEST OUT ISLAND TRIP EVER!
If you’re reading this, you probably understand the realities of Out Island life: food stocks are hit & miss, restaurants & stores are sometimes open & often closed for no known reason, & you can’t equate spectacular natural beauty with luxury living at this price point. Nonetheless, we’re delighted to recommend Raymond & Ulrisa’s rentals in Black Point, Exuma. You can watch the sun rise from the hammock on your front porch – & see it set from your back porch. That alone makes this wonderful home worth the price of admission!
Though Raymond was very busy with his businesses, he was always accessible to answer questions & point us in the right direction. He got us a great guide, Ralph, though we would have enjoyed having Raymond’s hands-on touch as some of the other reviewers did. Ulrisa made us a lovely dinner one night & we ended our week with a visit to their home on our final evening in Black Point.
We had a boat for the week – a great idea if you like to explore. We brought a small GPS loaded with Bahamas charts, had an orientation trip with Ralph to mark key waypoints like the swimming pigs, Thunderball Grotto, & the Exuma Land & Sea Park, and afterward we had the confidence to push our limits & explore 3 hours north & enjoy some of the uninhabited beaches nearby.
The house was clean & well-appointed. Raymond & Ulrisa kept our golf cart charged & ready to go. Everything in the house was in good working order. The beach out back was a great place to float the hours away & there were several vantage points nearby to enjoy superb sunsets. The star shows were spectacular, with the Milky Way clearly visible overhead. The small bluff brought constant nighttime breezes, so bugs weren’t a problem.
The settlement of Black Point, 5 minutes away, was charming & welcoming, so long as you don’t expect air conditioned restaurants or stocked supermarkets. The government dock is a great place to just hang out.
There were a few things that we would be willing to pay more for on a subsequent visit: A decent night’s sleep was hard to come by on the hard bed, the dive ladder on the boat was a challenge, & access to the laundry facilities was limited to when the larger rental house was vacant. But NONE of that took away from one of the best vacations ever.
If you want a vacation where the occasional comprise yields priceless memories & spectacular scenery, rent from Raymond & Ulrisa and adopt Black Point, Exuma as your island home.

Peaceful, Tranquil, Beautiful, Adventurous, Fun filled Climate!
I knew I wanted to see the Grotto, swimming pigs, and swim with the nurse sharks. I got much more than that. A short 35 minute flight from Nassau on Flamingo Air you are at Black Point. If you planned ahead you ordered groceries and they will be waiting for you. Bread Boy and Ressa picked us up at the airport with golf carts and a truck for our luggage. It is a short 1.5 mile ride away. Now this is a small island. I saw maybe a dozen different vehicles on the island. Everyone walks, ride bikes or golf carts. That is a short commute to get on a plane. The planes are 9 or 15 seaters and depending on how many people are arriving, they may send 2 planes. On the property there are 4 rentals. The largest of the rentals has a lower floor that is an additional rental with a kitchenette. We stayed at the Green house or as it is called Ocean View. I spent many a mornings and evenings reading on the front porch and gazing at the ocean. The kids spent a lot of time in the lower gazebo and in the back bay. The bay empties out with the tide and is a great place to go on an excursion if you like to look for creatures or snorkel. We laid in the sun, kayaked, and went on the paddle boards. The boys fished in the bay also. They brought their own poles and reels. They got countless hours of entertainment of fishing. They fished at the government pier also. The locals at the pier are very helpful with what ever you want. When the fishermen come in the nurse sharks and the rays are very entertaining to watch. We meandered down to the pier each evening to fish and watch the life in the ocean. The Ocean was very accommodating for the 5 of us. We cooked in every evening except one. The kitchen is very adequate to make meals. WE ate one evening at DeShamon’s Restaurant one evening and the pizza was very good. Diane who runs the restaurant is more than helpful with everything. Her Mom has a little grocery store of a few things. Her Mom who lives next door makes bread and coconut bread. Well worth the 5 dollars for the loaf. DeShamon’s Restaurant also had the Packers football game on TV and has great wireless internet. Raymond and Reesa live on the property so they are there to help with whatever you need. Due to the fact that they live on an island it makes you realize what an effort they have to go through to get supplies etc.. for the property. This is what they do. Reesa manages the properties and Bread boy has boat rentals and excursions.
Great time with everyone in Black Point. Breadboy was great and the property was very clean, air conditioning was perfect and as I like o cook the cabin had all the cooking utensils required. The restaurants on the island were excellent and renting a boat from Breadboy made going to the tourist locations easy and fishing for Bonefish easy as well. Sorry for the shortness of this report but I don't usually write this much but this place was perfect for me. Will plan to come again. Thanks Breadboy and also need to mention our first boat trip was with Magic (Breadboy 's brother), he took us to all the tourists locations and gave us a good lay of the land , I highly recommend this to everyone. Thanks Magic!!!!
Had a wonderful time on Black Point! Ulrissa and Breadboy are awesome hosts and extremely knowledgeable about the islands. Renting a boat for several days is a must!
Words cannot describe the beauty of BlackPoint and this home. Our family had an amazing vacation at this home. We were so happy we decided to come to BlackPoint and escape the hustle and bustle of Nassau. We loved swimming in the harbour where we treated to seeing stingrays and a baby loggerhead turtle. Ulrisa and Breadboy were wonderful hosts. Ulrisa arranged for our groceries to be stocked in the house at our arrival. Our flight in was pre-check in and our flight out was post-check-in. In both instances Ulrisa kindly allowed us to stay in the home. We went out on boat trips with their son who was so knowledgable and patient with us, helping us find places that our two young children would love to visit around the exumas.
I really cannot say enough about this trip. I hope our paths lead us back to BlackPoint one day and we would definitely stay in this house again. Ulrisa and Breadboy are wonderful hosts and kind people.
Bread Boy and Ressa were wonderful hosts. They took care of everything for us. Highly recommend them & their properties. Great customer service. They made us feel like family.

Perfect family trip to the Bahamas!
We were looking to avoid crowds and the big resorts and stumbled upon Black Point. Very peaceful and definitely what we wanted! Raymond (Bread Boy) and Ulrisa were wonderful hosts and their cottage was perfect for our family. With amazing access to the beach and paddle boards and kayaks we had plenty to do. We also hired a guide (JR is awesome!) and boat for two days (just ask Bread Boy and Ulrisa - they can hook you up with whatever you may need!) and swam with the pigs and sharks and turtles. JR also took us to several empty beaches where we could walk, swim, and relax. The locals on Black Point are warm and welcoming and definitely make you feel at home. The stores on the island are limited, which was not a problem for us but definitely do your homework so you know what to expect. We highly recommend the cottage and the whole area is incredibly beautiful. Thank you Bread Boy and Ulrisa!!!

Know what to expect before you go!
Exquisite water, view and privacy!!! There are no words for the natural beauty and blue water. Do your research - NOTHING is included and there are few resources on the island. We were only there four full days and I didn't have time to negotiate prices of boat, cleaning, etc. Plan your meals - there are two restaurants - both are mediocre. The island people are very friendly.

Family Time in the Family Islands
Our family of 7 stayed in the 4 bedroom purple house for two nights and then moved over to the 3 bedroom blue house for another two nights and we couldn't have been more pleased with either home. Ulrissa and Raymond were the perfect hosts, always available if needed but never intrusive. Both homes are well appointed and have views that will capture your heart and stay in your mind forever! We rented boats from Raymond on two days and made amazing family memories on both days. Iguana beach is a short 10 minute ride away from Black Point, and then its just another 10 minutes to Staniel Cay, (where we had a delicious lunch), from there Thunderball Grotto is a two minute trip and then on to swim with the pigs about 5 minutes from there and another 10 minutes to Compass Cay to swim with the nurse sharks. (remember to bring cash, Compass Cay charges $10 a head to land at their docks - worth every cent!) Our guide, "Magic" was perfect! He pointed out highlights along the way and was very courteous and accommodating - navigating the boat to ease our entry/exit and assisting in any way! We also rented a golf cart and would recommend exploring Black Point a bit more! This place is truly a paradise unspoiled by hustle and bustle and the Black Point locals are incredibly friendly and welcoming! Planning our next trip already!!!!

Amazing Cottage!
We spent 8 glorious days at Black Point in Bread Boy and Ulrissa's beautiful yellow 1 br cottage. The place is gorgeous and decorated so nicely! We had a view of the Atlantic from our front porch, and the Caribbean from the back deck. It was amazing! And if you needed anything at all, just ask and they're on it! We ran out of propane for the stove, and no sooner had we reported it to Bread Boy than someone was there to switch out the bottle! They make sure you feel like you're home during your stay. They also let us tour the other cottages (well, the empty ones) and ALL of their properties are just stunning! There is internet, but the connection can be spotty at times. Beaches are just a few minutes walk, both on the Atlantic and the Caribbean side. I'd advise to rent a golf cart and go exploring - we found the most gorgeous beach I've ever seen! I can't wait to go again. I would recommend them to anyone!
