This is an amazing and truly unique place to stay. The surrounding beauty is breathtaking and the location divine. This is a perfect retreat. I look forward to more stays here. My thanks to the host.
Quick stay that went great. Easy check in, fairly easy to get things to and from the rental, beautiful sunsets out the door and beautiful sunrises around the corner.
Great place to stay! Small problem with not getting an email with the check in information but was helped by someone who lives there. Nice distance to Albuquerque!
Poor communication, check in instructions where hard to get. No internet service. Last evening there we lost electricity notified property manager never received a response. We went to bed without electricity woke up without electricity packed up and checked out in the dark. Never got a response.
Overall, the stay was comfortable with the addition of the fireplace. No wood is provided so bring your own. There is a medium-sized electric heater, but it takes a while to heat the large drafty TV room in these cold temperatures and bring extra blankets. There is no kitchen per se - there is the use of an electric hot plate with two burners, a Keurig for coffee, a microwave, and pots and pans with plates and cups provided with silverware. Bring a multiplug for 1500 watts with an 8ft. cord with you as the outlets are limited. The bedroom was warm and toasty. There are two bathrooms, but only one shower works. The water was hot, so it made up for the one not working. The place is great if you are there for a short getaway and bring the additional items. I have notified the owner of providing the extra multiplug and of the drafts, so perhaps he has made some needed changes since we were there at the beginning of January 2025. He was easy to contact and responded quickly. This was a good place for our animals since there were trails close by.

WORST VRBO EXPERIENCE EVER
There was NO heat. It was below zero outside. I had to leave space heaters on the whole time which is super unsafe and made me so nervous. I could hardly sit on the toilet it was so cold. The bed linens smelled awful! The shower head was so crusty and corroded that water barely dripped out! The kurig didn’t work, there was a microwave but the only 3 prong outlet was in the bathroom so I would have had to carry it into the bathroom to plug in to use. I asked for extra blankets because of the cold, one blanket was badly ripped and the other an electric blanket but they didn’t provide the plug in for it. When I complained, the host shamed me for wanting heat in zero degree weather. I asked for a refund for the 2nd night and he refused. Owner claims this is a historic property. ITS NOT. Maybe he doesn’t know the difference between historic and primitive. I wish I could post a picture of the corroded shower head-, just disgusting!
