Best little goat farm in Texas!

We had an amazing stay at the Byrds Nest. James and Marty, the owners, were very gracious and excellent hosts. The property is beautiful and a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. They have goats, peacocks, guinea fowl, turkeys, chickens and even a pig to hang out with. The goats are very friendly as are all the critters on the place. The barndominium is beautifully decorated and very clean. Beds were comfortable and you have all the comforts of home. We plan on going back, it was an excellent experience and highly recommended!

A Piece of Heaven on Earth

We wanted a place that was private, quiet and peaceful, and this rental turned out to be the perfect choice! The view of the countryside from our patio went on for miles. Always had a nice breeze! The farm animals were fun to watch, and the dogs were sweet and friendly. Our apartment was fresh and clean, and had everything we needed. The kitchen is very well stocked, if you want to cook at home. The drive into Shiner is quick and easy. We highly recommend this vacation rental.

Pleasant country stay

Very nice place. Clean & well appointed. Only dislike was no tv in the bedroom (but there is one in the closet that just hasn’t been hung yet)! 😉 Thank you!

Love this place!

This is the second time we’ve stayed here, and we had the best time. James and Marty are wonderful, it feels like we’re visiting family. The decor is something out of a magazine yet the rooms are extremely comfortable and functional. My 5-year old just LOVES the outdoor shower, animals garden... and I do too! Can’t wait to go back.

Great Country Get-Away

We had a very quiet and relaxing stay at the Byrd’s Nest. The apartment was lovely and very spacious. We walked in and saw an anniversary cake awaiting us. What a thoughtful surprise! We also enjoyed a delicious jar of honey. The hospitality extended to us by Marty and James went above and beyond. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Weekend Getaway

We stayed for a long weekend at the Byrd’s Nest and had a wonderful time! The farm dogs will play as long as you would like and the other animals are very friendly. There is plenty of seating outside to enjoy meals and the tremendous views during the day and the stars at night! The owners were accommodating of every need and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our time. We will definitely return as soon as we get the chance!

Nature, comfortable and clean

We had a wonderful time! We fell in love with the 3 blue healers. Rocky, Shiner and Bebe. They were so sweet and we played with them a lot at night. The property is beautiful and out in nature. Loooved the outdoor shower. They have goats, chickens, roosters, it was so neat. James was so kind and he and helped us with directions to the local grocery store, Patek’s. It’s small but has everything you need. Also has great deli/butcher shop in the back. James also had a cheesecake waiting for us for our anniversary. We will definitely be back. We absolutely loved it!

Quiet, special comfort!

Marty and James’s Byrd’s Nest is a uniquely comfortable and welcoming countryside rental. Updated and attractive decor go hand in hand with charming anenities such as a private patio and wonderful outdoor shower. Wish we’d had more time to spend with resident animal and plant life and just enjoy the open, serene vistas. Owners are such nice owners/hosts!

Gracious country living

We are delighted to have found this wonderful property. The pictures accurately represent the level of quality, but can’t capture the excellent experience. From the kind and gracious hosts to the well appointed kitchen, the Barndominium seemed a home away from home for our three generation party of four. Highly recommended.

Loved our Stay

We loved our time at the Barndominium. It was a great place for me to hang out while my husband was working and he enjoyed it in the evenings. It was clean, beautifully decorated, had everything you could possibly need to cook or grill your own meals. We have stayed in many properties around the country and this one was the "Best". James and Marty were the perfect hosts, and I feel like we have made new life long friends. Bob and I look forward to our next visit.

I didn't want to leave!

This place was wonderful. It's so quiet and peaceful. Our barndominium was clean and very comfortable. Anything that you needed was there. It is a very short drive to Shiner. The best part of the trip were those puppies. Would love to come back in the spring! Thank you Marty and James.

What's not to love

We stayed in The Nest, a modern one bedroom apartment with the most impressive amount of pots, pans, casserole dishes, and quality tableware I think I have ever seen ! Tastefully decorated and comfortable. Only negative: absence of a reading lamp anywhere. The owners are friendly without being intrusive. Pastoral setting lovely.

Summer Country Weekend Getaway

The Byrd's nest was just what we were looking for a quick weekend summer getaway for family and friends. It was quiet, peaceful, and the Byrds' were very hospitable. Mrs. Byrd welcomed us the first day with a sign on the door (nice touch by the way). The décor on the inside of the barndominum matched the personality of Mrs. Byrd. Our favorite part was the nice patio slab where you can watch the sunset and sunrise and enjoy cool summer winds. We plan on coming back soon.

Visiting a second time should tell you...

We brought our kids here for some country getaway, fresher air, peace and quiet, engaging with farm animals, playing outside, going fishing. Checks all the boxes. The country dogs can get tiring with wanting to fetch all the time but are super nice and friendly. We love us some Shiner and appreciate the Bryd's hospitality.

A BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF HEAVEN!

5 ladies in our group stayed in the Barndominium for 1 night but it wasn’t nearly long enough for us to take in everything at this breathtaking property. Hosts have thought of everything for your memorable stay, and were so very kind gracious & accommodating. They have put ALOT of love & hard work in their place & it shows! All modern interior, incredible gardens and such a variety of well cared for animals! There is something here for everyone but for me it was the outdoor shower under the stars with the softest water! We absolutely loved it! Deb, Tomball, TX

Country haven

This place doesn’t only provide overnight accommodations, it’s an adventure. It’s peaceful, beautiful and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. The owners are wonderful and have established quite a farm - goats, turkeys, quail, rabbits, chickens and a gorgeous pond with fish. Extensive porches to watch the sunset and deer. And we loved the outside shower. My 4-year-old wanted to shower twice a day. 😀. And he literally cried when we left. He continues to ask when we’re going back to the farm, and I say with confidence: Soon!
