A magical place does exist in South Haven and it’s one of our hidden gems full of local history and modern amenities, and it’s called Peach Mansion. This beautiful home was built by one of South Haven’s most historic figures - His name is found in several places here as a tribute to his contributions and vision for the growth of South Haven. A.S. Dyckman, originally from New York, settled in South Haven in 1838 and opened the first hotel and the first commercial orchard; which later became famous for growing varieties of South Haven's Peaches. Peach Mansion was built in 1860’s and has undergone many transformations, styles and motifs over the decades. However, the latest version of the Peach, is one of the most beautiful modern approaches that fills this house full of energy, warmth and love.
As soon as you step inside, the character and charm of the era surround you, yet each modern touch ensures you feel right at home. On the West Side, the cozy living room opens up to a spacious dining area, setting the stage for cherished gatherings. Here, you can almost feel the echoes of past generations sharing meals and laughter in this very room, surrounded by the same beautifully preserved woodwork that speaks to the home’s storied past.
The West Kitchen, a chef’s dream, offers updated appliances and spacious countertops, yet still radiates the warmth and timeless appeal of its 19th-century origins. This space seems made for family feasts, where stories and recipes are passed down as lovingly as the home itself.
Over on the East Side, another living room offers a unique charm of its own, filled with an array of seating options that invite you to relax and unwind. Whether you’re gathering for a movie, enjoying a quiet conversation, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, this side of the house feels as though it’s been hosting joyful moments for over a century. An adjacent inspiration space captures the spirit of quiet reflection and creativity that has long been woven into the home’s walls, reminding visitors that this is a place to recharge both mind and spirit.
Just beside this cozy haven, you’ll find a charming second kitchen with an inviting breakfast nook - A spot where the past and present blend seamlessly. For generations, guests have begun their mornings here, savoring coffee, sharing stories, and planning the day's adventures amidst the warm glow of early light. This nook, filled with nostalgic charm and carefully preserved details, invites you to linger, enjoy a quiet moment, or gather with loved ones, making it the perfect start to each day at Peach Mansion.
When you venture upstairs, the sense of history deepens, and each sleeping suite reveals its own unique charm, thoughtfully crafted with the same care that has preserved this home for over a hundred years. For added accessibility and ease, the East Side of the main level features a Queen Suite, offering comfortable accommodations without the need to navigate stairs.
Upstairs, the Peach Suite, a tribute to the mansion’s heritage, welcomes you with a plush queen bed and a warm, historic ambiance—perfect for restful dreams. Just down the hall, the Green Suite provides flexibility with both a queen and twin bed, ideal for families or friends. The spacious Blue Suite combines comfort and function with two queen beds and a private workspace that meets modern needs while preserving the mansion’s classic charm. Finally, the Pink Suite serves as a cozy retreat, complete with an inviting queen bed and tranquil decor, designed for restful, rejuvenating nights.
