Well-maintained lake front property on Lake of Egypt. Watch the boats from the covered deck. Enjoy the lake with a two boat slip covered dock. Fish and swim right off your dock. In the evening, roast some marshmallows in the fire pit with an amazing view of the lake. Inside, enjoy a huge sun room with gas fireplace and open/eat in kitchen. The property boasts a whopping 155 feet of rip/rap shoreline. Experience lake life at its finest as you relax and enjoy the fantastic views from your deck or sun room. Three marinas service the lake, with live entertainment for you to drop anchor and enjoy. Located near the wine trails and several state parks, it truly is a vacationer's dream. Come see the view and experience the fishing, swimming, boating, and relaxing in this awesome home.

There are two bedrooms with queen-sized beds, one bedroom with twin/full bunk beds as well as a trundle, and a pullout couch with a full-size bed. Air mattresses are welcome (but please do not exceed 10 people).

Additionally, there is a blacktop, horseshoe driveway!

A Home away from Home

Our family visited the Lake of Egypt area for 2025 Spring Break. The property is well maintained, well managed, friendly, accessible (minus the 1,000 steps to the water jk), and well stocked. The downstairs is perfect for kids to play and sleep while allowing adults the ability to enjoy the wonder view of the lake at night.The property owners are approachable, friendly, and available. We were not from the area and weather hazards were in the area during our stay, they communicated and checked in on us to make sure we were comfortable. We recommend this property 10 out of 10.

House is so nice and clean, hosts are very responsive, and the view is great! Be sure to bring your own spices, condiments, and toiletries as they don’t supply them (which was not a problem….just wanted others to know) but the house is very well kept, comfortable, and has a perfect location!

Thanksgiving Reunion

We were thrilled with how clean and well labeled everything was. We found everything we needed to make our stay more comfortable. The view was awesome! Cabin Getaway

Had an amazing time exploring the parks and forests the region had to offer. That said, the cabin served as a wonderful launching point for our adventures and the property checked every box we could have asked for. Whether it was s'mores at sunset or watching the sunrise over the lake, the cabin helped make amazing memories for the kids and grown ups alike!

Winter get-away!

We loved this winter get-away; off-season is a great time to explore and hike. We also kayaked and did a polar plunge off the boat dock! (They have a ladder, which helps for chilled adventurers). The kitchen is well equipped, and we baked & cooked extensively. Huge fridge/freezer, so you can pack in all your meals (eat at Walt’s Pizza in Marion. Superb). Hosts we responsive, brought over firewood upon request; they have skewers, so bring hot dogs & S’Mores. We will return again!

Family fun for Thanksgiving

We enjoyed our stay and the place was clean and cozy. There are a lot of stair and not a lot to do in the fall and winter. I'd love to come back in the spring and summer months. Thanks for having us!

Couples Getaway

This was the 2nd time we stayed at a property owned by Heather and Jeff. 1st time was at Eagles Nest, and while names were familiar it was the business card that confirmed this. (I've now saved their 3rd property to my wish list.) Place was perfect for us, very clean and comfortable. No problem with anything. Loved the light switch labels. Beds were very comfortable. Even enjoyed some time outside on the cool November weekend.

House was clean and well stocked with towels, blankets, kitchen utensils, etc. very quiet and peaceful. As others have said a lot of stairs to dock. Would go back. Things to note : jetted tub doesn’t work/leaks so there’s only showers and horseshoe drive would hold several cars but you can’t get around each other.

Great Cabin with Beautiful views!

We stayed in this cabin on the lake hoping to fish, relax and enjoy southern Illinois fall colors, wine trail and Shawnee National Forest. The cabin was beautiful and everything we expected. The neighborhood was the only downfall as it was a maze to get to the property and had to do a lot of careful driving on short, curvy, bumpy and hilly roads to get to the cabin within the neighborhood. Only other forewarning is that there are many steps to get down to the dock and back up. Totally worth it though and great property, would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful. Nice centralized spot for climbers

We chose this place for it's awesome location between all the great climbing areas, the lake view, and room for all the kids. It's no more than 45 mins from all the great climbing spots: Gaint City, Ferne, Holy Boulders, and Jackson. Lake Egypt is very quite. Beautiful in the fall. Hoping to come back in the spring for our next family climbing trip.

Great fall break escape

Enjoyed the view of the lake from the cabin. Had all the amenities we needed inside plus we used the kayaks, fire pit & fished off the dock outside. Drove 1/2 hour to beautiful blue sky winery for an afternoon & visited ferne clyffe park 15mins away for a short hike before we headed home. Had an absolutely beautiful weekend.

Girls Weekend

What a fabulous place. This was our annual girl's weekend. Wanted to try new place, We were so lucky, everything was absolutely spotless. The property owners were amazing. Heather met me at check in friendly and helpful. We have already decided to go back next year and stay longer. If I could, I would give it 10 stars. Beautiful place,furniture and view.

After living in this beautiful home for 17 years, we decided to move down the lake to be closer to family but could not part with this beautiful lakeside retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here, and we wanted to give other people the experience of lake life and encourage their inner adventurer to explore all that beautiful Southern Illinois has to offer. Fishing, boating, swimming, camp fires, wineries, hiking and most importantly, relaxation await you.

Why they chose this property

I am originally from Minnesota and my husband is from Wisconsin. We grew up in the outdoors hiking, camping, fishing and spending time in wild areas.We met while we both were attending Southern Illinois University (SIU) and fell in love with the area. The friendly people, beautiful forests, lakes and unique outdoors opportunities made this an ideal environment to raise a family. Southern Illinois is truly a hidden gem and well worth spending some time exploring.

What makes this property unique

The views rock! Whether sitting on the lower deck, dock, by the fire pit or in the open living area, the relaxing views are worth it .

My favorite part beside the view is the great fishing! Large mouth bass, catfish, bluegill and especially crappie are found in Lake of Egypt. Crab Orchard, Cedar, and Little Grassy lakes hold the same species. Kincaid lake has muskies, and Devils Kitchen has rainbow trout. This area has a bit of everything for the fisherman in you.

I like to enjoy my morning coffee in the sun room and a local glass or two of wine or beer on the porch in the evenings. We love to take slow evening cruises in the pontoon to see music or get some food at one of the marinas.

Our 14-year-old loves to swim and look for clams and fish during the day and making s'mores on the campfire at night. Kayaking and swimming off the dock are also high on his list.
