We really enjoyed our stay for the week. Having two different quarters to stay in was great for two families. The covered patio on the lower cabin was a nice place to hang out on our one rain day and in the evenings. We spent a lot of time at the lake and it was really nice having a private beach, dock and buoy available for use because we also brought our boat. Great views of the lake and Copper Island from the property
We love going to the Shuswap. We stayed at this property last year so already knew that we liked it. We love to golf, spend time on the dock and swim, which is all very accessible.
Had a great stay!!

awesome place to holiday
Always enjoyable and comfortable home. We have stayed a couple times and love the fact it has like to separate places in one house. It offers a chance to holiday with others but the privacy of two places, two kitchens and spacious bedrooms.
Had a great time at this property ! Very well kept and has all the amenities listed on the VRBO listing. Great boating, kayaking and Hiking! Managed to hike to 4 different waterfalls! Also some great wineries in the area!! Steve the owner very easy to deal with and prompt responces!
The cottage was clean, spacious and very well stocked, had everything we needed. We love the water/dock being so close, enjoyed our evenings on the large deck and the air conditioning guaranteed a great sleep. The hosts were very informative and we always received a quick response to any questions.
We look forward to renting this property in the future!!
This location was incredible for the wonderful Shuswap summer days. Proximity to the water. Access to the dock and moorage made for an excellent holiday for all ages. Having the 2 suites enabled our 2 families to enjoy a holiday together with enough privacy to have a bit more space. Will defiantly be back!
Our extended family had a lovely stay and really enjoyed the separate suits which allowed us lots of family time, but also the ability to have our own spaces. The kitchens were equipped with everything we needed and there was an abundance of items to enjoy/use at the beach and in the water.
We did notify the owner of some mice in the ceiling, understanding that this does happen as the weather gets cooler.
We definitely plan to be back again!
The cabin was everything we expected and more. The view from the deck was spectacular. It was a great place to have our morning coffee. Also, appreciated the gate at the end of deck as it kept our pets safe. The kitchen was very well equipped and made preparing our meals a snap. The beach was wonderful and we loved all the water toys that were made available for our use. We also appreciated the welcome gift from the owners. It was such a nice touch.
I stayed for a week with my parents and my brother’s family. This was the perfect place to stay for a family gathering. It was spacious for 5 adults and 3 kids. The deck is a highlight - perfect for watching sunsets and barbecuing. The lake access with a fire pit and dock was what sets this place apart. We spent days just swimming in the lake and the kids were in the water all day. There were life jackets and plenty of inflatable floating items. I would definitely come back.
This is our third stay at this property.
As usual, my family had a relaxing and fun time. Many wonderful memories were made. The cabin was immaculate, as it always is. There was everything we needed from cooking equipment to beach toys. The only thing we needed to bring was food and clothes. There were 7 of us and we all had plenty of room. We came with 2 trucks, 1 boat and 1 car and had plenty of room to park. The only thing different this year is that the owners have built a cabin in the front yard and are living there. At first, I was very disappointed of this news and was not sure what to expect. As it turned out, it was really no problem. The owners respected our privacy and I only saw them on occasion.
The host, Steve, always responded quickly to any questions. He generously provided an extra blowup mattress for our stay as well. We rented both the upper and lower suites. You do have to walk around the house to access the other suite. Both suites were well furnished, comfortable and clean.
The upstairs kitchen was very well stocked for cooking all meals. We didn't really use the lower kitchen. The only issue was that the oven did not work. It would have been nice to know that before we arrived, so that we could have planned out meals accordingly.
The location was great for us. You have access to your own slice of lakefront with a dock. We really enjoyed our stay at Shuswap Lake and will definitely return.

Disappointed
This was our third summer at this property. The cottage, as in the past, was clean, spacious and well stocked. We love the summers in the Shuswap and enjoyed the water/dock and evenings on the large deck.
There was one difference this year. We value our privacy and were surprised to learn a few days before our arrival, that the owner now lives in a smaller cottage at the front of the property. As a renter you no longer have exclusive use of the property. The owner does respect your privacy, but I feel this is something that should be clearly stated on the VRBO description for future guests, as the VRBO slogan is about renting "whole vacation properties".

What a great home for a family vacation!
We had been looking for a home to rent for some of our family members so we could visit with other family who were staying at Carmel Beach Resort. We couldn't believe our good luck in finding this lovely home right across the road from the resort!
What a lovely surprise when we arrived - a welcome note and bottle of wine from the owners! The home had every amenity we needed from a kitchen which was fully stocked with dishes and cooking utensils to very comfortable beds and immaculate bathrooms. The home is separated into a 2-bedroom/2 bathroom upstairs unit and a 2-bedroom/1 bathroom unit below (with its own kitchen). So, there was lots of space for everyone.
With having decks on two sides of the house, we were able to be in the sun or shade as desired. When we could see clearly (due to forest fire smoke), the view out to Copper Island was spectacular - especially the sunset. We enjoyed the use of a great BBQ as well. The property has lots of parking space.
On our last night, we ordered and picked up pizza from Finz (about 2 minutes away) and everyone declared it delicious! A couple of our group also went to Finz for lunch and said it was excellent.
We would definitely recommend this property to anyone and hope to go back ourselves one day! Thanks to owners Karen and Steve for sharing their wonderful summer home!
This is the second time we’ve stayed at Steve and Karen’s property. It is a perfect layout for extended families. We had 5 adults and 3 kids ranging in age from 7 to 79. There was enough room for everyone to be comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped - no need to bring anything. The views of the lake and sunsets from the wrap around patio were amazing. There is a nicely upgraded fire pit and picnic area next to the lake. The dock was great for swimming, as well as securing our rented pontoon boat. The kids loved the beach area. Steve and Karen were easy to communicate with and they were flexible with us when our plans changed in the context of the pandemic. The only minor irritant we experienced was loud noise from a couple of inconsiderate guests staying at the resort next door who would come back in their boats at all hours of the night blasting music and partying loudly. Unfortunately they were there for the whole week. This was not the case the last time we stayed here so I think it was an isolated incident. In summary we had an exceptional experience overall and I would highly recommend this property for a family lakeside vacation.
Our family had a great week at this property! It was clean, spacious, is a great location and had everything we needed for cooking and enjoying the beach/water. The owners were easy to deal with and promptly replied to all of our messages. Would very much recommend for a relaxing time on the lake!

my summer holidays
the stove did not work, we had to go with out until Monday evening! when works here we had to be present to protect our stuff. the coffee maker upstairs did not work. the dock was a joke. we had to walk up to our knees in water jut to get to the rickety dock as a 70 year old person we found the dock useless. so we made deal with the neighbor and used theirs. very disappointed for what we paid!! to get upstairs to downstairs you had to walk outside??? I will give Vrbo 1 more try for next year at the Shuswap but at a different summer home. i do have a couple in mind if someone would like to let me know when the 2022 time slots become available??
Great place to stay, everything was as expected. The only thing is you have to go outside to go downstairs (not an issue for us) and the road you have to cross to get to the beach/dock is very busy which made me nervous with small kids. We will definitely be back!
This place was absolutely beautiful, it had everything that you could need and more!! The water is so close and has a beautiful dock and picnic area to have lunch at. It’s close to some nice wineries and restaurants, there’s always something to do! The hosts were great as well, answered promptly, gave lots of information and were very welcoming, thanks for letting us stay at your beautiful place!

About the host
Hosted by Karen Probert
We have been vacationing in BC's Okanagan area for years and have always had a wonderful time. We love the lake and all of the year-round recreational opportunities. In 2011 we were able to realize a dream and purchase our own vacation home.
Why they chose this property
We are an active family and enjoy the ability to hike, bike, ski, kayak and swim directly from our cabin. Blind Bay and nearby Sorrento are great communities offering many amenities including some great local restaurants, pubs, cafes, ice cream vendors, fantastic bakery and grocery, and medical clinic.
There are a number of local businesses nearby that we enjoy touring such as the wineries and cheese factory. And it is a tradition for my family to go to the Enderby drive-in movie theatre at least once each year!
Additionally, we are near the larger centres of Salmon Arm for any must haves or forgotten items!
