About this property
Luxury Beachfront House w/Pool
Our incredible Beachfront Home with a Pool is located on Playa La Barqueta a pristine beach on the Pacific Coast of Panama near the bustling City of David. It is about 30 minutes from the airport and only an hour and a half from the world famous mountain town of Boquete.
The home is luxuriously appointed with everything you need to get away from it all. Walk the beach, enjoy incredible sunrises and sunsets, relax in a stunning pool, cook your favorite meals and forget your worries in this spacious and serene space. You may also select from a variety of personal services.
Entry into the Playa Barqueta subdivision is via a gated entry that is manned Monday through Saturday from 8AM to 5PM. On the short drive down the road to our tropical getaway you will pass beautiful homes along the beach - all well maintained and well landscaped. Our home is E4 and is located directly on the beach. It has two entry points with plenty of parking - some of which is covered.
Upon entering the home through the front door you will be greeted by a beautiful open space with the fully appointed kitchen and pantry to the left, a dining table for 8 and the an expansive living room. There is a big screen TV and a Amazon Echo sound system as well as comfortable seating with views of the patio and the beach.
The covered patio is huge and fronts a stunning pool complete with lush landscaping and a waterfall. There is plenty of seating and chairs for lounging by the pool as well as a covered outdoor dining area. You will a wet bar and two BBQ grills (one gas fired and one charcoal) on the patio below the guesthouse which also offers a full poolside bathroom. Three bedrooms including a luxurious master suite are on the first floor of the main house. All bedrooms have plenty of closet space and are appropriately decorated to make your stay the most enjoyable ever.
The incredible beach is accessed directly from the pool deck and you will find a Tiki Hut with seating and hammocks for your beachside enjoyment.
Walk the beach to find turtle nests and incredible pieces of driftwood as well as shells and more. The beach is perfect for boarding and swimming but guests must exercise caution as there are strong rip currents.
Sunrises are simply amazing when viewed from the beach and sunsets are incredibly dramatic over the distant Burrica Penninsula that separates Panama from Costa Rica.
You will have total access to the property and all it's amenities.
Interaction with the owner's representative is available as needed. Our caretaker lives in the Playa Barqueta area and our maid and gardener live close by in the town of Guarumal. The gardener comes on Fridays and the maid comes on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Additional maid service as well as any of our services is available by appointment. Please note that the guest house may be occupied by the owners when they are in residence or by our property manager. Owners and the manager will have access to the pool area, the outdoor kitchen and the Tiki Hut, but will not intrude on your stay. You are welcome to interact with them if you choose as they are a wealth of local knowledge..
Playa La Barqueta is the best beach on the Pacific Coast near the City of David. The neighborhood has strict rules and regulations to ensure all homes and properties are well maintained. Quiet time is from 10PM until 8AM.
We recommend that guests bring a car to the property so they can explore the beach area as well as take day trips to the Cities of David, Volcan, Puerta Armulles and the World Famous mountain town of Boquete.
Getting around is very easy by car - just remember that not all roads here are of the same quality as in first world countries. Be prepared for a few bumps in the road and to dodge a few potholes.
There are three restaurants nearby including a wonderful moderately upscale place (Restaurante Abigail) inside the Las Olas Resort. The other two restaurants are very casual beachfront operations that serve a limited menu featuring fresh fish and sometimes shrimp and ceviche. They may not look like much, but the food is incredible.
In the City of David you can find lots of restaurants, great shopping and gambling casinos. Boquete is a haven for Expats and the town has many fine dining options as well as a plethora of things to do. Our favorite restaurant in Boquete is "Tach". It is owned by world famous Panamanian chef Charlie Collins and is located in his historic hotel - The Panamonte. The bar there is also a must see with two fireplaces and both indoor and outdoor seating surrounded by incredible tropical plants.
If you have an interest in fishing the waters of the Pacific, charters are available out of Pedregal or Boca Chica for a variety of fish depending on the season. We have had great luck catching Mahi Mahi, multiple varieties of Snapper and Tuna along this coast. Sportfishing for Marlin is world class at the nearby Hanibal Bank.
The following Guest Services are available at a very reasonable cost by appointment:

About the host
Hosted by Walter Kawano

My principal home is in Northwest Florida and I have lived here ever since I graduated from university. I have been fortunate to surround myself with incredibly talented people who helped me achieve success in the restaurant business as well as a few other ventures.
My partner in the property is an amazing man who lives in Englewood, Florida whee I also own a vacation home. Mike is a very successful electrical contractor who shares my love of fishing and the tropical lifestyle.
That success and the fact that I have associates who I can trust has given me the opportunity to travel the world and find incredible places like Panama.
I bought my first property in Panama in 2002 and over the years have operated restaurants, bars, hostels and a variety of rental properties. I currently have properties in the provinces of Bocas del Toro, Chiriqui and Veraguas. Some are short term rentals while others are being held for future development.
My passions are cooking, growing orchids and other tropical plants and all things related to the water - fishing, diving, boating.
I was married to an amazing woman for 36 years and have been blessed with 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Patti and I traveled everywhere together and had many great adventures - I miss her dearly. Life goes on however and I cherish every moment, doing my best to put smiles on the faces of the people I meet.
I hope you enjoy your stay at what my partners and I call Playa del Fuego or Fire Beach. The home is amazing and the fiery sunrises and sunsets will astound you.

Why they chose this property
I have always been a beach person and when I bought my property in the mountains near Boquete I eventually found my way to a small up and coming resort on the Pacific Coast called Las Olas. The owners of the resort were selling beach front lots and I started thinking about investing in one. This didn't happen, but the dark sand beach and crystal clear water as well as the remote nature of the area kept me coming back for over 20 years. I started looking at beach houses in earnest in 2021 and focused my attention on the La Barqueta area because I love it and it is relatively close to my other properties on the Pacific side of Panama. The bottom line is that the beach here is stunning as are the sunrises and sunsets. Fishing is fantastic, there is a plethora of shopping opportunities in David (about 30 minutes away) and I have met some amazing people here. Combine this with finding a fantastic home in a well kept and safe neighborhood that is poised for further development and it is easy to see why I chose this area of Panama.
What makes this property unique
There are several things that set this property aside from others nearby.
First, it is a large property by comparison to others in the area and it is very well landscaped. The coconut palms, colorful bougainvillea and other tropical vegetation that surrounds the property ads a tranquil feel to the place. It is a perfect spot to get away from the stress of daily life.
Second, the beachfront pool and outdoor spaces are unrivaled. - the pool itself is big with built in seating and a beautiful waterfall feature. There is plenty of room to take in the sun and a lot of covered outdoor space. There is also a dedicated space for outdoor cooking area and a full bathroom that services the area. Lastly, there is a palm thatched Tiki Hut directly on the beach complete with seating, hammocks, a firepit and running water.
Third, I love the way the house is laid out and the Spanish design elements. The bright white walls, red barrel style roof and vibrant blue accents just scream understated luxury.
Fourth, the kitchen is truly amazing and well equipped for any cooking experience you wish to enjoy.
Fifth, you can enjoy both sunrises and sunsets from the property due to it's southern exposure.
