About this property
Little Fox Hill - a tiny house in the woods by a brook
Little Fox Hill is nestled in an enchanting forest right next to the state parks of Bradbury Mountain and Wolf's Neck, surrounded by three organic farms. It is a tiny house custom-built by local craftsmen, furnished with items made by small companies in Europe. In this nature paradise you can either read a book or write a book, be quiet by a little stream and listen, spend time on the rocky coast of Casco Bay, or explore hiking trails, play discgolf on the famous Pineland Farms about 5 minutes away, go shopping at LL Bean's Flagship Store or attend a show at the Chocolate Factory in Bath about 30 min away.
Freeport is about 15 minutes, Portland 30 minutes, the famous Maine Botanical Gardens are 1 hr away. From the organic farms around you can get your produce and hear the Highland Cows. The frogs in the pond will sing you good night in spring. We identified 40 kinds of birds on our property, which has been granted the designation "Natural Habitat".
Little FoxHill was built in 2022-2023 by local carpenter Mark Vachon with support from local excavator Andrew Williams, as well as plumbers, electricians, and other trades. The architect is Joshua Woodsman from the Czech Republic. The interior design was envisioned by us. Especially the staircase is an original design, modeled after Scandinavian designs for tiny house floor plans and staircases.
Building materials are local, the floor is hickory hardwood. Almost everything you touch is either wood, glas, fabric, or ceramic. The ingenious sleeper sofa was designed and handmade in Finland by Luonto. The wicker chair is from Kingsley Bate, Virginia. The mugs are hand-made by Anetta, each mug took 3 months to make. (Please leave them here. :-))
We also take great care in providing you with topnotch shower/shampoo/conditioners from Whole Foods, provide you with coffee from local roasters, oat meal, maple syrup and honey from Maine. We think: Buy local, or bye, bye local.
The interior and exterior original artworks honor artists (Bread&Circus, Glover, Vermont; Valeska Peschke, Berlin, Germany; Aileen McKay, Edinborough, Scotland.; Hellmund Studio, Vancouver, Canada) and family owned businesses (Richard Parks, Three Bluebirds, etc).
Wood, glass and ceramics are the materials, and a small library of books on nature, sustainable living and climate change invites you to explore and learn while you take a sip of our own delicious fresh water, from a well about 450 feet deep. Be inspired by the peace and harmony on your private balcony while overlooking the adjacent brook, pond, and park.
The outdoor sculptures, “Cubism Concerto” (materials cut, fabricated, varnished, 2021) and “In-N-Out” (metal and found materials, 2022), are from “The Hellmund Studio”, envisioned and forged by Andrew Hellmund, Vancouver, Canada.
There is also an outdoor space on the property whose only purpose is to provide a quiet room to read, think, and observe the forest. It was built 2024/2025.
